India (150 & 487/6d) beat Australia (104 & 238) by 295 runs in the 1st Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

pitch has eased out. india need to score 300 here. get a 300 to 350 lead. then get them in to bat. it will take some bowling effort to get them out. as pitch has flattened a bit.

spinners will come handy. we only have sundar.
 
mitchell starc 35 years old. still bowling 137 to 145 kmph

cummins 133 to 142.
hazlewood 132 to 140

marsh is ridiculously slow 119 to 124

india

bumrah 134 to 144
harshit 135 to 145
siraj 134 to 142

nitish 120 to 132
 
Surely the trio of Starc, Cummins, Hazlewood cannot bowl for all 5 tests.
Starc is old and more prone to fatigue. He has also been totally owned by India in the last 2 BGTS in Australia.
Aus have to blood in FergusO Neil.

The Australians are playing the same bowling attack who have failed against India for three series in Australia in a row ie Starc, Hazelwood, Cummins, Lyon.

Regardless of the reputation of these bowlers and their overall records and records against other teams, under performing against a specific team in your own home conditions three series in a row in the last 6 years is going to have a severe mental scarring.

Australia might be better served playing 1-2 fresh new quick bowlers. Give the Indian batting line up something different to deal with.

Good session for India. THey have to press home the advantage. This is a long series. So they have to make Australia on the ground as much as possible if not for anything else.

So you are saying Australia has no bench strength or ready replacements? What happened to the best domestic cricket structure in the world?
 
if india draw or win this series then it clearly means they preserved themselves vs nz. yes players were missing but intensity definitely was lower.
 
After getting dismissed within 2 sessions yesterday, its amazing feeling to see us losing no wicket in this session.

World no.2 ranked bowler Hazlewwood
World no.4 ranked bowler Cummins
World no.7 ranked bowler Lyon
World no.11 ranked bowler Starc

There is no way they will play someone else other than this. India has played all kind of bowlers. Siraj, Thakur, Natrajan, Saini, Rana, Nitish, Shami, Bumrah, ishant in the last 3 series mostly because of injuries.

This game is done and dusted cause there's no way India is messing this up.

I think a 350+ lead is coming up at a minimum.

Yea Starc in particular has been hammered by India, averaging almost 40 in the last 12 tests vs them.

He will turn 35 soon and his form and fitness will decline, Aus have to bring in a new young seamer.

Their batting is overrated. Smith is past prime. Labu is overrated and minnow basher and same goes for Khawaja. The only X factor they have is Head, who is obviously not gonna click 10/10 innings.

However, they still have deadly bowling attack despite Starc being in the final years of his test Career

seam movement has reduced by significant margins compared to yesterday so Australia can chase any total

Hazelwood to bowl Post tea break and he can be very dangerous because of his accuracy .
 
Last Test at Perth, Pakistan got bowled out for 89 in the 4th innings.

Going by that Test , the pitch should be tough to bat on from around 4th day 2nd session maybe.

2nd day is best time for batting on this deck according to experts .

And please don't give Pakistan team example because they can fold against any teams even on a flat pitch .

Its not a one off game. It's over a 2 year period since the last WTC FINAL. Best two teams in that period will compete in the final

I think lost series to SA in 2016-17. Only SA and IND were good in Australia.
