India (150 & 487/6d) beat Australia (104 & 238) by 295 runs in the 1st Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

Literally only travis head can save them now, the likes of labu and Smith are too slow to chase anything here.
Firstly they need to bowl out India, secondly there are still a lot of time left in this match, 3 full days after today so they can play as slow as they want, but the question is will they survive good bowling from Bumrah especially.

I would send Pant next as ball is old and soft now and pitch also good for batting.

Next 40 overs, India can try score fast and add 150 more.

The real nightmare is when Rohit and Gill back. Totally disturbed the team combination...Rohit and Gill are sitting duck.

Indians Involved in most 100+ opening partnerships in SENA countries since 2000
3 - KL Rahul and Virender Sehwag
2 - Akash Chopra, Wasim Jaffer & Dinesh Karthik

It’s time to stop the KL Rahul hate.

aussies trying to cheat again by using new balls lel.
sand paper genes never go away huh

almost dropped. sorry dropped.
but it fell right in front of him

tired legs
fatigue.

trust me on this. i know rahul very well
he has one good game per series. i would niggle him out if india were smart.
next game.

he is still untrustworthy.

sarfraz brother is a better batsman. hoping to see musheer khan play in the future.

still something in the pitch for all bowlers. and its moderatly batting friendly too

The Australian pace attack is also am ageing one and its a 5 match series. Though the runs may not come its crucial to tire them.

these are the replacements. not as good but solid. but yes drop in quality though

dont get why morris cant play.
he bowls 135 to 145. he should be selected

jhye too short

fergus a bit raw

Very un-Australia-like performance from the Aussies in this Test.

But, they can still bounce back. I think they can chase down 300-350.
Yes very un-Australia like performance by Aussie from last two test series at home .

Maybe its due to IPL Auctions which is happening tomorrow? :kp :dw

You can sense Jaiswal is getting edgy. This is where KL need to talk to him.

Absolutely nothing happening off the wicket.

Only way forward is to pile on humongous lead and let the scoreboard pressure get to Aussie batters in the 4th innings.

I definitely believe IPL is a factor at subconscious level.

It reduces intensity in international cricket.
If anything I would assume IPL is an incentive to perform against India.
Million $ contracts are in the bag if you perform against India

Wow this is some stamina shown by these two. Kash humare dangar bhi kuch seekh lein.

Why should we score fast, just bat like this until the end so that Aus gets to bat when cracks start developing on the pitch.

Before the series , you were claiming that Australia was well settled and will, therefore, crush India. Now that an Australian victory is not guaranteed , you are blaming IPL

Even chameleons don't change colour as fast as you do, brother :inti

great bowling by starc and equally good batting by jaissu

also consistent pace 138 to 144 amazing stuff starcy

If we score slow then after 80 overs, we have to survive second new ball and that will be a challenge. I don’t back our batters to survive the second new ball especially if the pitch starts assisting their pacers.

Credit to India - Aussies have played like absolute cowards. They are frightened of India.

India have totally owned Starc since 2018.
The only left armer India like facing.
they dont like wagner away from home and boult away from home.
they are fine vs other bowlers. seems like only kiwis hurt indian batsmen.
and jansen did initally away but now got figured out.
so weird whyu indian batsmen strugglevs kiwi trundlers who get spanked by everyone else.

Why what is the hurry?

Its just day 2
Second new ball will be challenge. Remember how we collapsed against second new ball after Sarfaraz and Pant flayed the old ball against New Zealand in first test.

Bharat effectively 182/0

Will be a shame if we at all lose from this position.

We will have to bat against the new ball, one way or the other, no point in bashing it and losing wickets here.
I'd prefer if our top order gets to face the new ball instead of Pant, Sundar and Reddy.

We should maximize these 30 overs. Even 3-3.5 rr will be sufficient considering the current lead

Both Indian opening batters scoring 50+ in a Test in Australia

Sunil Gavaskar (70) & Chetan Chauhan (85) Melbourne 1981
Sunil Gavaskar (166*) & Kris Srikkanth (51) Adelaide 1985
Sunil Gavaskar (172) & Kris Srikkanth (116) Sydney 1986
Yashasvi Jaiswal (68*) & KL Rahul (50*) Perth 2024

Too much gap between a couple of these Tests. Nice scheduling by CA. They know their bowlers won't be able to take the workload otherwise.

It's how India beat them last 2 times. Forcing them to bowl again and again and again with little rest in between.

Not saying needless bashing.

But since the ball is soft, we must try bat smartly and with positive approach. I am not liking KL approach, he was stuck at 40 for long.

If we lose one wicket, Pant is perfect batsman to come next because his style of play is to score fast and he can take that lead well above till the 80 overs mark.

odi bowlers run an average of 3.5 to 4 km per game
t20 its 2 km per game
in tests bowlers and fielders run an average distance of 7 km per game.

crazy.
