What's new

India (231/4) defeat Bangladesh (228) by 6 wickets to make a triumphant start to their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign

Saim is a great talent in your team

Kamran Ghulab also but Saim is the best you have got now. He different
The potential might be there, just how it was there with babar, but that killer instinct of being a match winner and a responsible and dependable player will never be there

Comprehensive win at the last but our batting was tested.

Without gill century this match would have gone lot closer.

India was always in control from the starting

But some brainless shots by axar, iyer and Kl can't be ignored

:kp

Not Dhaka yet.

They now go to Pakistan for the remaining CT games. :inti

India should've played in Pakistan instead of staying in Dubai like Barbie Dolls. :inti

Yes. You won't get such a slow pitch in Pakistan. BD are going to get slaughtered by PAK and NZ on flat pitches.

Might as well go back to Dhaka now

They did whitewash Pak on flattish pitches. Who knows, their pacers might have a good game.

Had Jaker taken that catch, TEAM IPL could've been in big trouble.

It was a bad drop at a crucial stage. :inti
Had Rohit taken that catch of Jaker, Bangla wont be scoring even 100 runs. They were 35/6

Stop crying

Not good to demean a player's look. He is a good bowler and we should respect the players who are there representing their countries.
Agreed. That was below the belt. I'm glad that abusive mental midget Bangladeshi bowler was put in his place by our , significantly, more talented cricketers.

Good to see that racist mysoginist Tanzim been humiliated by Subhman Gill. Excellent day for me

:qdkcheeky

Where is @Dr_Bassim ? Legund Kohli out for 22 at a pathetic SR vs BD LOL
Oh bhai why are you watching Indian games and quoting me.

I didn't watch the match.

A washed up Rohit struck at a higher SR than Babar opening and India won.

Kohli is definitely finished.

You are comparing them to Babar who should be at peak of his game but has been in a free fall since 2021.

Not even gravity has a stronger force than the free fall of Babar so much so that yesterday on a flat pitch he batted for 60 odd runs oblivious to the run rate required and a score of 320 on the flattest pitch, and fixated in getting his 55 average maintained by striking at 70.

Moreover, his poor batting made sure that Pakistan lost the match in first 10 overs of the innings.

After this, you should hang your head in shame and NEVER quote me when mentioning Indian players or their sufferings when your own lovebirds are eating dung and making Pakistan lose matches.

Chalo abb Rizwan ki tareef shuru Karo.

Good day !

Babar is an absolute joke

So Gill and the so-called 'mental midget' bring India home.
I wonder who is the bigger mental midget, KL or his detractors who are better off watching Nach Baliye and Dance India Dance.

Gill nails century as India kickstart Champions Trophy campaign with win over Bangladesh

Having won the toss and opted to bat first, Bangladesh set a total of 229, powered by Tawhid Hridoy's maiden ODI ton.
Shubman Gill mauled an unbeaten century - his second successive in ODIs - to steer India's chase of 229 and inspire a six-wicket win in their Group A Champions Trophy fixture against India in Dubai.

The Indian opener continued his rich vein of form, amassing 101 runs off 129 deliveries. Having risen to the top of the ICC Men's Batting Rankings ahead of Thursday's fixture, Gill combined alongside Rohit Sharma to take the attack to Bangladesh bowlers from the get-go.

The Indian skipper looked in fine form with the bat as he blazed seven boundaries during his knock of 41. However, Rohit was undone by a short delivery from Taskin Ahmed at the end of the powerplay to break the deadlock.

Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain then struck twice to remove Virat Kohli and Axar Patel to spark a fightback from his side after India got off to a quickfire start.

Hossain provided Bangladesh with their second breakthrough, getting the better of Virat Kohli, who was unable to slice the ball past the fielder at gully.

Having lost four wickets, Gill then stitched a crucial partnership of 87 runs to see the game through with KL Rahul (41*).

Bowling first after Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first, seasoned pacer Mohammed Shami marked an impressive return on the big stage as he nabbed a five-wicket haul to - two in his opening burst to put India on the offensive in the first innings.

Wrapping up with bowling figures of 5/53 from his 10 overs quota, Shami crossed the 200 ODI wickets milestone, and surpassed Zaheer Khan to become India's leading wicket-taker at ICC ODI tournaments to headline the first innings.

Bowling from the other end, Harshit Rana - featuring in his first ICC tournament for India, removed Bangladesh skipper Nazmul Hossain Shanto to make it two wickets for India in as many overs.

Axar Patel then, joined the party, snapping the wickets off Tanzid Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim off successive deliveries, with KL Rahul grabbing catches behind the stumps.

The left-arm orthodox almost rounded up a hat-trick with Jaker Ali edging one behind but Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was unable to latch onto the ball behind the stumps.

With Indian bowlers tightening the screws, Jaker Ali combined alongside Towhid Hridoy to add 154 runs for the sixth wicket.

The partnership was the record highest for the sixth wicket in ICC Champions Trophy history and against India in the ODI format.

While Shami removed Jaker Ali for 68, Tawhid kept the scoreboard ticking from the other end, with Rishad Hossain also adding valuable runs lower down the order as Bangladesh marked a comeback to cross past the 200-run mark.

Shami was once again in the mix as he caught Tawhid Hridoy off Harshit Rana's delivery to close the innings for India.

You do realize at u19 level all of your talented players like Jaiwsal, Ravi Bishnoi, Dhruv Jurel, Tilak Varma were beaten by some of the BD players you saw today whom were also at u19 few years ago.

Its just that BCB is dud when it comes to grooming and bringing up players.

260-270 would have been good target on this wicket. With a left arm spinner in your side. Things could have been more interesting.

KL got 3 lives. 1 dropped catch. 2 run outs missed. Any top side (viz: Aus Nz Eng) would not make such mistake thrice in a matter of 30 mins on the field.

Jaker's drop was frustrating. It killed the game.

Anyway, hopefully they will do better against NZ.

they played better cricket after losing wickets early on.. now i m sure Pakistan will be on the bottom of the table from this group.

Yeah BD players seem to peak at U-19 level and then it's all downhill. Looks like we have already seen the best of these players

Pak have a far superior batting and bowling attack compared to BD. You just have to get Gill, as Rohit Kohli are not in their prime form. There is also no Bumrah threat who makes a significant different to Indian bowling.

Those who say Rahul won india this game, know nothing about cricket.

Any other country, apart from us would have dropped Rahul permanently from all forms of the game after WC final but not us.

Rahul is a panauti on all formats. Will be better for us if we get rid of him forever.

I know Pakistan has a chance. But Far superior bowling? 330/6, 352/5, 243/5(45.2), 320/5 these were runs they conceded in the last 4 innings

He might sit out.
Dubai is assisting spinners and with Harshit Rana they’re planning to load batters till #9. We have the deepest batting in this tournament arguably now.
Harshit Rama’s bowling is mediocre and his batting is as good as Shami’s.

If Arshdeep is not playing, Indian bowling will be extremely mediocre.

Jaker just gave back India the favour . You know Rohit Sharma put down a Dolly catch of Jaker Ali's fiirst delivery faced. :dhoni
