What's new

India (329) defeat England (322/9) by 7 runs to win 3rd ODI - Win series 2-1

I don't get it, 47th over bowled by Thakur... 3 overs to go, one from Bhuvi and two from Pandya, our two best bowlers. The obvious sequence to play your bowlers is Pandaya, Bhuvi, Pandya.

Instead Kohli gives the ball to Bhuvi, meaning that Pandya who has been averaging about 5.5 per over will bowl only 9 overs, while one of Prasidh (averaging 9 per over) or Natrajan (averaging 7.3 per over) will have to bowl the 50th over.

Brain fade by Kohli or some deep strategy?

I just saw this right now.

Wasn't Nattu there too?

Surely he had to be given the ball for one of the 3 overs.

Sometimes a bowler who has great eonomy can go for a lot of runs if given an extar over. Dhoni used to be a master at this. He would know exactly how much to bowl someone and not given them that extra over which will change the game.

Pandya was damn good but Bhuvi and Nattu had to bowl 2 overs cos you wanna maximize your chances that way.

If Pandya continues his form and becomes a reliable death bowler, the strategy will change.
