How did Pakistan lost to this SRL side.. that too there first ODI win in past 9 matches against them.. Amazing
Bad days happen to everyone. India got all out for 36 and then won a test series in Australia. England lost to Ireland and then won the previous T20 world cup. Argentina lost to Saudi and then won the FIFA world cup final beating a heavyweight team like France.

Indian batsmen are poor vs left arm spin. Any team with good left arm spin can run through their batting.

Our bowlers were missing.

Naseem and Haris were a loss.

Not saying we would have them out for 50, but still.

Ishan Kishan is my favourite Indian cricketer right now. He has a power game but his inns vs PAK in tricky conditions shows he can knuckle down too.

He's already played 50 FC games and averages 39 so he's a proper batsman.

On the other hand, Khushdil and Asif were given extended runs for PAK because of their big hitting reputation. But both average mid-20s in FC cricket.

I'm not saying pick white-ball batsmen on FC averages - but they do give you a hint about whether a batsman has the fundamentals in place.

I still think SSA is a much better bowler than what he shows in Asia cup. Shadaab is defo much better than this tripe he has bowled. I still think
Fakhar Zaman is a match winner and on his day can win you a game.
Other than the India match, your boys lost on the last ball of the match to SL.
I defo think there is much better to come from Pak.

lol Please finish it in the powerplay itself.. 5 more to go.. utter domination.
Ishi Kishi.. hit a six please !!!1

all the advertisers are tying tthemselves in knots!!!! ...lol, if not for the break, match would have finished befor floodlighs took maximum effect

Random bad days in sports happen, but I really feel for the poor crowd who came cheering for SL. Putting up such a performance in front of packed home crowd must be disheartening for them

Bharat wins in 6.1 overs by 10 wickets

Total 21.3 overs bowled today only
One of the shortest ever ODIs

And this happened in a final!

8th Asia Cup trophy, in total 16 editions. India didn't defend its title in the 2nd edition in 1986 because of strained political relations with the then hosts, Sri Lanka. 8/15, not bad.

Looking at Ishan and Gill, we could potentially post 350-400 kind of a total today. Saw absolutely no demon in the pitch when we batted.

Better pick than Gill but mostly won't get. Impactwise he was immense but not reflected in stats column, like his bowling effort against Sri Lanka in the group stage.
or even KL could be in the mix, dude kept wickets for two consec days after getting a 100, brilliant catch today as well

Pakistan 2/16 is extremely bad.
Like they have consistently fell short off winning what is literally just a 3 team tournament historically.

Sri Lanka 6/16 trophies and 13 finals appearances is the ultimate overachiever of the cup

Pakistan 2/15. They pulled out of the 1990 edition.

Sri Lanka has punched above its weight, in fact has the best win % in Asia Cup history.

What a load of rubbish from Sri Lanka, bought there A game for Pakistan and rolled over for India and had there stomachs tickled, look for huge contracts for those Sri Lankan players in the next IPL!

You are looking at it in completely wrong way. To get contract from IPL teams first criteria is to perform well against india other teams. If you fail against India nobody is going to pick you. Keith Jamieson purely got picked for very high price for his good performance against India.

India have registered a very comprehensive Victory in the final of Asia Cup. 8th title for india and most successful team of this tournament. Now India is unstoppable and favorites for world cup. It will be not be easy to tackle india on their home pitches.

In terms of deliveries bowled, this is now the 3rd shortest ODI ever.

Keep in mind this is a final.
Crazy

Harsh to call Sri Lanka an overachiever, they were a brilliant limited overs team in the 90's and early 20's, they have only started to struggle once Sangakkara, Jaywardene, Vaas, Murali, Malinga retired

This Srilankan side is trying to replicate England by loading the side with batsmen, all rounders, bowlers who can bat well. Their idea is to keep attacking

Siraj’s brutal spell blows Sri Lanka away as India lift 8th Asia Cup title.

ndia were crowned Asia Cup 2023 champions at the back of a dazzling fast bowling performance. Leading the effort was Mohammed Siraj, who ran through the Sri Lanka top-order in the final.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for merely 50 runs in 15.2 overs. This was their lowest total against India and the second-lowest total of all time. This was the fifth-shortest completed innings in terms of number of overs where a team has been bowled out.

In response, India chased down the target in merely 37 balls by 10 wickets. This is the largest victory for India, by the number of balls remaining in the innings and also the biggest defeat for Sri Lanka.

With this, India became the Asia Cup champions for the eighth time and kept the tag of being the most successful team in the tournament.

Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka called it right at the toss and chose to bat first. However, little went Sri Lanka’s way after the two sides walked off the park.

India’s bowlers took advantage of the overcast conditions and got the ball to zip around both ways. Jasprit Bumrah drew first blood, getting rid of Kusal Perera for a duck.

However, it was his new-ball spell partner, Siraj, who turned the game on its head.

He picked up four wickets in the fourth over of the game. He had Pathum Nissanka caught at point off the very first ball of the over. He followed it up with the wickets of Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka off the third and fourth balls of the over respectively. Samarawickrama was trapped lbw, while Asalanka was caught in the covers.

Off the final delivery, he had Dhananjaya de Silva caught behind. He followed up this magical over with another wicket and cleaned up Shanaka in his very next over.

With this, he completed a five-for off merely 16 balls. This equals the world record for the quickest five-for (ever since ball-by-ball data became available). He shares this with Sri Lanka’s Chaminda Vaas, who had picked five wickets against Bangladesh off merely 16 balls in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2003.

Sri Lanka were 12/6 after Siraj’s effort and just when Kusal Mendis and Dunith Wellalage looked to stabilise, the fiery fast bowler struck again breaking the fledgling stand, taking his sixth wicket.

There was no coming back for Sri Lanka after that fiery spell and Hardik Pandya completed the formalities by bagging the final three wickets and finishing with figures of 3/3. All ten wickets in the Sri Lanka innings fell to the pacers.

Siraj finished with 6/21, the best figures for a fast bowler in the Asia Cup, with the previous best belonging to Aaqib Javed's 5/19 against India at Sharjah in 1995.

This is also the best performance by an Indian bowler in the event. The previous best was Arshad Ayub's 5/21 against Pakistan at Dhaka in 1988.

So Ravi, hayden, sanjay, dominic all said pitch gonna turn and turn big...but all 10 fell to the quicks...some things are so unpredictable, just blow up in your faces.
When Hitman lost the toss, i was sure kusal and co would make us run ragged....
what an anti climax!

Great bowlers take the pitch out of the equation and go about their job professionally and with discipline.
