What's new

India beat New Zealand by 7 wickets in the 3rd ODI

So what? The team RR was in control. So he picked his bowlers to attack early on.Everyone does that.Rohit got out on 13 off 21

You make it seem like he always gets out on 60 SR.Apart from last match, here are his ODI scores this year:

21 off 24
34 off 42
23 off 9
11 of 10
18 off 13

Thats his ODI scores.T20s are even better SR wise

SR is not his issue.Converting to big scores and finishing is.We need a new finisher but Dhoni can do the job at 4

Even Pandey had horrible SR at the start.

So its not a big issue when it happens rarely.

Dhoni has been scratchy as a bat for long. I was watching him bat a bit and it was painful. Coming down the track and hitting Santner straight to the fielder when the balls could have easily been maneuvered.

Anyways, he got better and played very well as scorecard suggests (I just watched a small part of the game).

When you are over the hill, you mostly can't make up later on. Dhoni's garbage innings last game can be played off as "playing according to situation" but it wasn't that. Same thing happened here but he scored this time after his first 30 balls. As tracks get tougher, you will see Dhoni scratch around more.

No shame in it. He has lost his skills. Happens to all. In his peak, he was something else but don't think he will consistently do well.

When he doesn't convert, it will be.

In the first ODI against SA last year, Dhoni had a SR of 100.

But anyone who watched the game would know he screwed up a gettable chase BIG TIME.

So stats alone doesn't convey the picture.

I get today was a damn good innings later on but not gonna look too much into raw SR stats.

Those are meaningless.

Dhoni should continue @ 4. doesn't mind if he scratches first 30-40 balls but he can catch up when he sets. plus odi isn't T20, you don't need to hit to every ball.

But he should retire from T20.

I'm not saying hes the same or can be a finisher anymore. No

Yeah hes not been fluent in terms of rotating strike. But as I said hes been playing cameos at good SR before this series. So there isnt a question of making up in the first place.

Last match, everyone except Jadhav and Pandya was like that.Dhoni was too slow yes,but he was also only experienced one left after Kohli went.If not for that brilliant take by Southee,we would have won it surely.RRR wasnt even 6 IIRC

At 4 I think he can offer solidity and experience. What we need is good finisher/slogger.Not sure Pandya/Jadhav are the answer

Well done lads.

Dhoni, 6th fastest to 9000 runs.

The others ahead of him - Ganguly, Sachin, Ponting, Kallis, Lara were all openers/number 3, that is a pretty significant achievement.

That is a phenomenal achievement tbh.

AJ Styles is the WWE champion and we finally broke the most world consecutive wins record in rugby.

The Black Caps losing a JAMODI in India means very little in comparison.
