What's new

India end Day 4 on 4/0 , needing 324 runs to win the 4th Test against Australia

Steve Smith this series
1 & 1*
0 & 8
131 & 81
36 & 55
Total 313 runs @ 44.71 in 8 Innings

He cashed big on flat Sydney pitch. That's what good batsmen do even if they are not among runs. Indians have worked on leg trap and Smith has fallen for it many times in this series.

Toss has given Aussies clear advantage. We have competed well even with fourth string bowling attack.

Manju didi discussing that game played at Gabba with Harsha at WC '92 which we lost to Australia by a solitary run.

Was such a heart breaking loss!

NOt with so much rain predicted

The track is getting worse and there is not so much rain prediction that Aus won't have time to bowl out India. India can still save it, but it won't be easy.

Looks like next 1 session will be gone. Even for tomorrow I see rain for at least 1 more session. AUS need to declare overnight and bowl us out in 2 sessions.

Possible but difficult unless we have another 36 kind of hour :|

McGrath is such a fun guy to listen to off the field totally unlike his on field persona. Such a great analyst of the game especially fast bowling.

If India needs to survive only 2 sessions then it's quite possible to block. If it's full 98 overs then the best way would be to keep scoring rather than block. That way Aus can't attack too much.

I think we may see some play today.

In that case, hope we have a go at the total with Rohit and Gill. If we lose one or both of them early, then look to shut up shop.

But he was one of the biggest obnoxious tool on the field in his playing days. Called Jayasuriya black monkey.. imagine if someone says something like this today.

Hope entire day washout . will Australia will declare overnight?? I

They should.
There isn’t a whole lot to lose if Tim Paine wants take a chance to win the game. A draw will let India keep the trophy. An Aussie loss, and India will still keep the trophy.

So why not take shot at victory and try to bowled India out tomorrow?
It will be very interesting to see India’s reply where they will most likely opt for a draw - so the entire Indian team will bat like Mr, Tuk Tuk.

I don't think Ind can chase even 275 in this pitch against this bowing unit.

World test championship.

275 is enough, they should declare and try to atleast two before close of play. Overcast conditions might help them as well. Lol Aus playing like subcontinental teams safe and reserved cricket.

ANyone know World Test Championship status? WHat do India/Australia need to do to qualify for finals?

Australia will gof for a win, Qualifying for the World Test Championship will be their prime focus.

Australia is sacred don't think they declared before 340

Tells you their mindset.. the old Australian team would have declared at this point & backed themselves up to bowl out the opposition. Aussies are lacking confidence atm.

Aus will have a higher chance to win if they get bowled out quickly.

More they play higher chance of India to draw the test as they know they can't win

I'm really surprised if they don't declared today considering rain might play it's part tomorrow

Rahane making the same mistake by bowling thakur to the tail enders instead of Nataranjan

A comment from somebody on Cricinfo that its pouring an hour away from the stadium (where the rain bands are coming from). Given that scenario, makes no sense that Aussies are not declaring here.

Aus lead by 320.

This score is out of reach and we shouldn't be going for it regardless of weather.

Australia know they're gonna lose this match.

What they're doing now looks pathetic but it's simply about delaying the inevitable :vk

This will be an interesting 4th innings chase. Pitch looks dodgy (source:espncricinfo) and no batsman will feel set at anytime during the chase.

There was one delivery by Siraj that hit a long crack and came back nearly 45 degrees.

But our boys have this covered :vk

Am glad this bowling attack was able to take 20 wickets and only let Aussies score over 300 once.
