What's new

India end Day 4 on 98/2, needing 309 runs to win the 3rd Test against Australia

Almost played all games outside india and expecting him to score hundreds is bit harsh on him. Test cricket is not that easy to score runs especially in SENA.

Even if India plays till lunch without losing a wicket, India is done in this test.

Yep. Seen so many of these games where the batting team does really well for 50-60% of the innings and then one wicket falls and it just opens the flood gates

Yes, that's what I was thinking. Also, the Indian tail is weak here and I won't bank on them to survive even 10-15 overs.

Yes and even Jadeja is injured. Team has said he will bat if required but I don't know how long he will survive with a broken thumb

Pujara is solely responsible for this defeat. India were top after the start openers gave in 1st innings. There was absolutely no need for him to go into blockathon mode which played into Australian hands. I understand a batsman need to grind it out on a lively surface if a team loses early wickets but what was the reason of batting so slowly when openers gave a dream start. His batting put pressure on likes of Rahane, Vihari etc who all got out trying to be adventurous. I dont want to see Pujara from next series anymore. This batting approach will never work.

Pujara has similarities with Azhar Ali and Rahane has similarities with Asad Shafiq. :inti

He was very young when he first played for Australia i.e. 19 years old, a fast bowler's body, bones and muscles mature when they enter their mid 20's.

Yet Amir has been crying about growing old destroying his body.

Forget hundreds when last did he cross 40?

Vihari is a specialist batsman and after playing 11 matches he averages just 33 which is less than Pant's and Jaddu's batting averages. This is a good enough reason to drop him after this series. :inti

This is his second tour to Australia and he doesn't have a 50 yet. Both Vihari and Pant play only in SENA, debuted in same series and one of the two also keeps gloves and you see their results and decide who deserves more criticism.

Losing 2nd wicket just before close was a blow for india but they can still salvage a drawn series here.

He will play the next match due to lack of resources, but this is one of the final few opportunities for Vihari (and maybe even for Pujara) to save his career.

The way we keep coming back , I have hopes we have it to fight out a draw tomorrow. Our tail including Ashwin MUST support better.
