India v Australia | 1st Test | Pune | Feb 23-27, 2017 | Day 2

Even if Australia fold, I don't know how India will fair against mystery spinner O'Keefe on day 3 :ashwin

lol warner just wants to go crazy before the inevitable dismissal

good strategy this i always think on pitches like these

whats the point of grit and sticking it out and scoring 20 (55) if you can do sth like 30-35 run a ball

Either way youll get out soon enough

I just watched the fall of wickets.

Not even one magic delivery.

This is hard man. Hard.......

How can you collapse like this fellas?

the small variations are harder to face than big turners - which you can normally just leave.

This is not how it works here. You have to spend some time here just like you did in the first innings warner

Kohli got the team selection wrong. You shouldn't be one dimensional. Should pick team based on pitch. If it's a flat one, should pick 5 bowlers and 4 bowlers if it's a turner to strengthen India's batting.

Good point! Jayant Yadav was more or less not needed with the ball! On these pitches even a part-time spinner can be useful if needed (even Kohli knows bit of leg-break!)

Australia already have enough runs on the board. I don't see us scoring over 150 in the 2nd innings.

We r really screwed. :(

India batted and bowled really poorly.

Should have never conceded 260 in the first place, but then that amateur hour of batting :ashwin

Harbhajan Singh must be loving this. The chucking troll tried his best to jinx India, and it worked.

He got excited and got confused if he was playing in Australia and the team is in dominating position! Indian spinners should up their game like anything now and give a chance to chase to chase under 300 and then its up to the batsmen!

India missed the trick by not playing Amit Mishra, he would have been a demon on this pitch. Heck, they could have brought it Chahal. Perfect debut for him.

Nah.

More like he knows he has no chance of surviving if he bats for time so may as well slog.

True but look at how Kohli, Rahul, Jaddu got out. Just threw it away. Then the irresponsible batting by Jayant.

Good bowling and poor batting.

Neither! We needed an extra batsman! Otherwise if still needed, then in place of seamer (Ishanth?) Just poor poor team management by supposed professionals (should have read the situation prior to match)

What happened to Renshaw folks? The kid can bat

Probably trying to attack early on. They're going for a boundary an over. The kid is a terrific bat but maybe not what they need at this stage of the game. Will try to dominate India atm.

Ok......so I randomly popped open cricinfo..... :O :O :O

What in heavens name happened here :)) :))

Nope. He didn't field today. He'll have to wait for another 40/45 minutes. Only then he'll be allowed to bat.

He's no O'Keefe

The odd matches! Jadeja has proved in much tougher flat pitches. I remember the T20 match against NZ on similar pitch. And these so-called dangerous bowlers vanish later on after people start to expect from them (Panesar was never a threatening bowler apart from that tour!) The match conditions has an impact on the players!

There was no need of playing Jayant here. Honestly, he doesn't look to be the devil to me and hasn't really done a lot with the ball despite bowling on rank turners. Heaven for spinners. He'll be taken apart in foreign conditions.

Anyway, yeah, Karun Nair should've been the extra batsman. Or brought in for Rahane. Pretty unfair to the bloke who just scored a century.

Let the match get over completely before making fun! I expected Australia to come prepared for this tour. Rank Turner straight away was not a good ploy.

These collapses were characteristic of Bangladesh in the recent years. Looks like our Indian brothers are following suit :shakib

Think Ashwin can take out Renshaw pretty quickly too. He is on a roll. Smith and Handscomb will be the key wickets.

Rest will fold. Marsh and Wade looked pretty clueless in the first innings.

Would be a great game if the Aussies ended up 100 all out. Still think it would be too much for India in the second innings.

Personally though, want to see Smith score a hundred, and game over by tomorrow.

Well get to see how Kohli responds to this test,g ood challenge for him when he and team haven't performed well.

We'll lose this match mate. They already have enough runs on the board.

That's OK, let's at least get closer! A marginal defeat (30 to 50 runs) after fighting hard will be better. Indian batsmen have to apply themselves in the 2nd innings though its going to be tough. You can't expect these conditions in next matches for sure (certainly not in Dharmashala and Bangalore)

Yeah likely.

But atleast let's fight and who knows something may happen.

Indian bowlers bowled port on this wicket, didn't they? I expected them to perform better than this. Kohli also made a mistake by taking on the new ball in the first innings.

And what is Yadav doing in the team. Can't bowl, can't bat

Quick question, is India's collapse worse than England's in Chennai.

Or even England's collapse in the T20?

Yeh, that's right. We shouldn't go doen without a fight.

Anyway, we made quite a few tactical blunders in this match. Hopefully we'll rectify those in the next match.

Kohli will win it for India in the second innings.:aag
:kohli
But for that Australia needs to get out cheaply now.

Reckon we can chase 250 here but for that Australia has to get out to 100 which is very very very very hard.

Starc's innings very useful now.

Bowling Aus out for 100 isn't too hard though. Only really Renshaw left to come.

I think this is the first time under Kohli Indians are put under any sort of pressure on their home turf. Let's see how the lad manages his troops when he's under the pump !!
