Vs England we were under the pressure in game 1 and 2 after a collapse. In Mumbai we had a collapse around 300 too chasing 450 first innings.

This match is a mega screw up that is very hard to recover. you need an iconic knock to win this.
 
I don't care what the scorecard says, Starc has been the MOTM so far.
 
This small partnership has killed the game, India will have mentally checked out.

He looked absolutely superb and never in trouble to only throw it away.

Rahane was so poor that he doesnt know where he will get any run against spin.

This 5 batsman theory will back fire with rahane and saha who u cannot depend in indian conditions.

Jayant was very poor with the ball. He is having a nightmare of a match. Taken to the cleaners, warned twice for running on the pitch and foolish batting

Rahane needs to be backed for what he has done previously.Its not like others did better or he threw it away atleast.Was a good delivery.

Maybe bring in Nair for Ishant.Don't need 5 bowlers here

What good delivery man? It was a leg side ball which took a leading edge as he closed the bat too early.

He will be dropped for ever if he continues to be a deer in headlights against spin. He survived so many tense moments in that stay and he has no shots against spin

A sitting duck against spin.There is always some help for spinners everywhere in India.So dropping him in India makes some sense.But I wouldn't though.

Rahane can't play spin bro, backing him won't change that, he is my first guy on teamsheet if we are playing in eng, nz or sa but in india i would rather have someone else.

Besides Kohli, I believe Ashwin, Jadeja and Rahane also have million dollar contracts.

So Nair might get a look in the next match.. would depend on the pitch I guess.. if it's the same like this, Then he should replace jayant yadav

Batsmen cant be changed based on tracks.Have to be backed

Kohli struggles vs outswing,Pujara against swing and bounce.But we do play them everywhere.Dont forget this is extreme spin pitch.

Nair can only come in as extra batsman

Rahane should open the innings if he has any chance to play in India (can do the same overseas as well). Actually Pujara by now should have given us the assurance (at least 60%) of Dravid! He has had enough exposure and experience (Also not involved in LOI & IPL to affect his game). Should have got matured by now. Murali Vijay also is not consistent. Actually there are many places for grab in this Indian Test team (batting), the bowlers (especially seamers) have in fact done much better (We have some hopes overseas). But I would rather want the management and players to sort this out (Team selection, strategies, mental toughness, etc). Replacements won't work overnight!

honestly i dont get how the ball misses the top of the stumps so much!

I have seen it often with the spinners, i dnt think the ball really bounces so much. I think there is slight issue with the projected projectile motion of the ball. Just my 2 cents. Obviously it looked high to me but it missed the bails by some 15 cm.
 
Smith is a fighter. Needs to ensure Australia get another 80 or 90 runs at least.
 
Would give Yadav and over and take Jadeja off. Bowling the ball into Smith is probably going to be more effective.

It will definitely not be like this. But Australia can gain confidence if they win this match (especially with big margin).
 
Rahane is inconsistent but not clueless v spin.His highest score is in a match where Ashwin got 13.Scored 2 tons in Delhi vs SA too

And how do we know Nair is any better?That 300 was on a patta

Ashwin got 7 wickets that game.

SA spinners averaged 70 in that game after averaging 20 in other games. In the pother games, Rahane averaged 10.

First innings Kyle got a 5fer.

First innings was a decent knock second innings pitch was eased up.

Not saying Nair will play well today. But Rahane has been poor against spin for a long long time.

I just woke up, matching is progressing fast, 300 runs would be huge, Australia also has Strac, who can reverse at high pace as well. He can clean tail, plus Bounce is some what variable as well, not every ball the bouncing, but I have not watched enough yet.

India would be really under pressure in second innings.

True, we're pretty good in close as well (mostly Azhar Ali), but dropped catches are dropped catches.

We are a good fielding side in Test cricket when it comes to close in catches apart from our keeper
