India v England | India win 3rd Test against England by 8 wickets in Mohali

Funny old world when Indian fast bowlers bounce English batsmen out.....

Funny old world when Indian fast bowlers bounce English batsmen out.....

Tbh, I would back some club cricketers to bounce English batsmen out. The way they have handled bounce in the last few years has been atrocious. It is almost as if they have a mental block.

This is the effect of a bad WK.

Both innings Parthiv missed a chance, England capitalized.

Excellent batting by Hameed I would say.

So annoyed to see the lead of 100 more than 40 put on by last wicket  below 100 would had been a psychological point, lets see how we chase this

Now India need to wrap up this Test without further ado. A 2-0 series win will get them to 117 pts, whereas a 3-0 win will get them to 119 pts, leaving the number 2 ranked team (likely Australia) far far behind. This team is becoming a #1 team for the ages, not one that just edges out the #2 team, but demolishes the competition.

Which chance did Parthiv missed this time? :(

Missed the caught behind of Hameed when he was on 6.

Simply wasn't low to get his gloves in line. Got his pad in the way or else it may have got the slip involved atleast.

More than these chances, its the prospect of him being dodgy in future games which is risky.

Vijay is slowly fading away from future Indian Test reckoning!

Nice to see Pujara in full flow. Kohli was right, he was going into his shell before

Whats wrong with Murali Vijay?

I hope Kohli and Kunble put some sense in Vj's head, he either bats too slow or throws it away early hence averages only 40 even after scoring runs in all countries. I agree if it's a green mamba but he plays the same even on placid tracks when we are trying to catch up with the game.

Vijay was leaving short balls very well in the past. Don't know why he's fending at them now. India should draft Mukund, Herwadkar and Pant into the squad.

Pant should be the reserve wk batsman while Rahul, Vijay, Mukund and Herwadkar should be our pool of openers from which we select the two in best form at that moment.

Patel showing some class out there. He always plays good strokes but throws it away. He did well away against England in the ODIs against Anderson and co. facing early morning swing in 2011.

Clearly, he has talent and needs some backing. Good to see him cash in on this opportunity.

Well played India. England honestly gave it away despite getting the luck of the coin and even the conditions.

So the pitch has been read wrong by the experts yet again? A good batting track in the final sessions of the 4th day.

England fought very well.

In all fairness, they couldn't have asked for more from this tour....

Super easy pitches mitigating Indian strength
Winning the toss
Indians playing with just 2-3 bats while rest are out of form (led to some super scary moments)
Weird Indian obsession to gift Rashid wickets out of nowhere (he bowled very well this series and I am impressed but a lot of dismissals were just baffling)

As I predicted India chased a target around 100 losing a bit lesser wickets than I expected (thanks to Parthiv who made the runs quickly! Had they taken some more overs to reach the target there was a possibility of some more wickets falling!)

Have to praise our pacers...they have stepped up big time...

And who can forget Jayant Yadav.....what a guy to have in your team in Asian conditions

Jaddu will get MOM (which is fair enough) but personally I would go with Ash as MOM.

Even though his bowling figures got ugly due to an off day today (or maybe some issue?), he was the one who turned the game on its head with both bat and ball.

Played India - particularly impressed with the fast bowling!

I think changes have to be made by England, who have lost four of their last six tests, including one to Bangladesh. The batting is the weakest it has been in in two decades. I would make Root skipper and drop him down the order. Bairstow's run-making power should be maximised by giving someone else the gloves and pushing him up the order. There is no natural number three at present and I don't know where Moeen should bat. Though with the advancement of Rashid this series, Moeen's place is less secure as he is no longer the #1 spinner.

I would call this game "The Revenge of the Teletubbies". India going from 204/6 to 417/10 really took the game out of England's reach. The batting of the Indian bowlers made the English attack look quite toothless.

This test also showed that Broad is a big part of English success. His performance in the 2nd test on a broken foot was outstanding. He could have made a difference here and not let India get 400+.

Some posters were saying win toss, win match in India. Wonder what they have to say now.

The always have the old line left, that India doesn't get any credit for winning in India. And that the only thing that has any value is winning in England.

They won't say anything now.
BTW, Kohli said this in post match presentation: "We lost the toss, bowled them out for 280. It was amazing to see the lower order contribute. I was surprised to hear the cheer when they won the toss. You still have to go out and win the game. We got motivated by that actually."

Vijay seems to be going through some personal issues. Clearly his mind is not in the game. Better to take a break from the cricket and sort it out.
India can have Rahul and Parthiv open.

Nair deserves another chance.

He also said "None of the pitches have been turners" hopefully he is not involved in making that decision.

Except Anderson everyone is a decent batsman in this English lineup. .

MMHS and Junaids. .had there been a more deeper batting lineup than this one fielded by England in this match in recent Test history?

I think, in 1st Test Jimmi & Batty wasn't there, instead Berbi & Ansari played; therefore ENG had a line-up with Ham, Cook, Root, Lefti (Ducket?), Moeen, Stokes, Jhony, Woakes, Adil, Ansari, Berbi in their line-up. Adil probably has 5/6 FC hundreds, Berbi has a Test 168 & Ansari has FC average over 30 (not sure how many hundreds).

Statistically, don't think ever a side had that depth - may be WI of 1954-57 had something similar & PAK in mid 70s had Wasim Bari at 11. However, "Statistics" is one thing & playing Ash/Jad on a turner is another thing.

Said it before the start of this match that England's batting is weak. Their batting depth is massively overrated. They are clearly missing a couple of good middle order batsmen capable of scoring 100s.

Would be better for Cricket for England to win the next the match to keep the series alive..

Ashwin averages 41 with the ball and 49 with the bat against England

Not sure if one should laugh or weep

Chrish that crap record with the ball is mostly to do with his horrible series in 2012. if Mumbai and Chennai play to form he will rout England in the last two Tests

I also thought so when they failed to beat Pakistan at home and Bangladesh away. Then Rajkot happened with a 500+ total and lullos like Ali and Stokes scoring centuries. Normal service has now been restored with India comprehensively winning the next two tests by 246 runs and 8 wickets. Hope we don't let up and make it a proper 4-0 thrashing.

Lovely thing about the Indian team is that their batting is never beaten. Even if you get the first 6 wickets for 206 runs, the next 4 will score 211 :)

IF England cant win, then I don't expect any other team to win against India in India.

Aus are going to get hammered.

Glad england went with Buttler/Bairstow, but a bit too late.

England should go with 8 batsmen for the next test. There is no need for sixth bowler.

Cook
Duckett
Root
Ballance
Bairstow
Stokes
Buttler
Moeen
Woakes
Rashid
Anderson.

What England needs is more penetrative bowling if they want to win a match. When the last 4 wickets score 217 runs against you, you are facing an all-time great batting lineup. Of course, the best they can hope for at this point, given India's batting strength is to draw games, so better bowlers may be redundant.
