What's new

India v New Zealand | 1st Test | Kanpur | Sep 22-26, 2016 | Day 3

Holy crap!
DRS strikes again, it's like traveling on carts because "cars are not 100% safe" what a disgraceful and foolish stance india have on this. Now wait untill this farce create some big mess, such a clowns

How did you manage to come to the conclusion that no one in India wants DRS?

Santner is turning out to be quite a package as a player. Very handy with the ball and a competent batsman in the lower order.

Come on New Zealand, don't want to lose number 1 ranking so soon and when were not playing.

This pitch is a solid one for batting.

Its day 3.

If you are good enough to get through some tough periods (where the ball plays up), you can score.

Everyone thought the pitch would turn rogue after the first 30 mins today.

Haha...its trolling everyone.

Great test match.

This is ridiculous, a spinner like Jadeja is averaging 23 with the ball in Test cricket, just because of these turning pitches, inflated average. Same goes for Ashwin, he should be averaging 30, ideally.

That didn't look out live, and unsurprisingly, it wasn't out either...

Any Indians here still want to complain about KW's decision yesterday?

3 decision have gone against us today.

Awful umpiring.

It's turning like crazy and the umpire is giving it like the deliveries are all straightening.

The Indians have broken the umpires down with their endless over appealing.

Straightening is called turning (due to angles). :))

Aman you got all confused.

If its straightening, that's out.

The question was whether the deliver straightened enough. lol.

That's the point! The umpires are seeing it as straightening when the ball is turning back in sharply and easily missing the stumps.

Oh my God.....

You are referring to Mark Craig dismissal?

I was referring to the other dismissal.

I felt Mark Craig was out. Let me see.

Open with Boult and Santner.

Indians are going to struggle out there too.

First time I've seen Ashwin and Jadeja, both very ordinary when there isn't anything in the wicket for them.

Pitches have definitely padded their stats.

Umpires need to really take the amount of spin and stride into account.

They haven't taken anything into account, hope they ignore it for the Indians as well... We need to roll India if we're any chance.

You have got it all backwards Aman.

That Sodhi dismissal..umpires thought it spun more than it did.

If anything, umpires shouldn't overestimate the spin.

Good decisions by the umpire today, I think If India scores another 150, it will be enough :Kohli

Missed the match but as soon as i saw so many lbws i knew there would be wrong decisions  ,BCCI really needs to think of this.

And as expected India took a good lead.

They just need to post 300 on the board and match is in their pockets.

Which spinner today is good when there isnt anything in the wicket?

Rahul needs to focus longer he defn has the ability to play test cricket unlike some other talented wannabe.

Rahul is just too aggressive and increases his odds of something going wrong.

I feel he can reduce his aggressiveness a bit and become way more solid.

Thoroughly impressed by Rahul's transformation from a fidgety, nerve-wracking of a batsmen at the crease to a bold and confident stroke maker. If only he could improve on his catching abilities (or regress on catch dropping streak) that would be super awesome for the team.

Spoiled a perfect session.

And this is EXACTLY why we are messed up as a test team.

We throw away too many wickets.

Jinxed Rahul

Nah dude. He had it coming.

Aman - Same new ball dude.....where was the vicious turn you were talking about? I am talking about the lunch to tea session when we batted.

Even the wicket was thrown away as usual.

I like the positive approach.Makes me miss Sehwag a little lesser ;-)

I think he will be worse if he starts prodding. Will find a balance soon

There is positivity and there is borderline risky.

He was risky. It was his talent that made it look positive.

Too many shots.

Seems a strategy to go big from one end while Vijay digs in case there's a collapse

There was a ball where his defended loosely and could have been bowled.

There was one where he hit it to short leg but it was a bit too quick so was dropped.

There was a sweep and a drive that was risky.

With such a talent, a small reduction in aggressiveness could increase his run output like 3X.

Scoring fast is great when you focus on being solid.

Increases your odds of success. Cos wickets can change momentum fast.

Fours are flying in.

We can't allow the spinners to settle in on a line.Correct approach this

Scoring fast is not a crime.

But not being solid is.

We went from 150/1 to 300 all out due to mistakes. If we had 500 runs, NZ would be staring down the barrel now.

Well there is always that risk you take when you try to score fast.

The mistake in first innings was that we did not consolidate even after we lost Pujara and Kohli.Have to adjust accordingly

Man i hate that word.

Not necessarily bro.

You can score fast by punishing the loose and marginally bad balls along with solid defense.

Think of it this way. A solid defense to a good ball reduces chances of your dismissal by 95%.

You lose a few boundaries with that approach but you can score a lot more over time.

Last 2 overs...Vijay cut 2 balls that were close to the body and this over Pujara rocked back on a good length ball that could lbw him.

Small hinges swing big doors.

Pujara cut another one too close to the body.

Could have got out easily.

Whats the point in being solid if you can lose it any moment.

Need to CUT OUT these shots and runs will come.
