Looks dry pitch. But there seems to be some moisture with all the rain Benguluru had.

Some help for seamers on Day-1 and 2. After that, it will be spinners pitch.

Are you serious? Looks like India want to gift wrap a win to SA

It has been raining in bangalore for the past few days.
There is moisture in the pitch and it's not hot as well so moisture might not dry up that fast.

Bugs Bunny with the new ball :)))

I have seen everything.

^and I thought opening the bowling with Anwar Ali was bad

Not much carry on Day 1 morning, there can be few shooters on Day 5. IND must have to make 1st innings count.

Don't know if we're watching the same game. The ball's carrying through nicely compared to other Indian pitches.

You have a 140 k pacer waiting on a green track when the pitch is at it's freshest and you give the ball to a 120 k trundler
This is Comedy GOLD!

Probably because of control. India's missing Shami, where is he btw?

I am watching a match where a Captain has put opponents in 1st time in 43 years - my expectation is along with that line, not with Indian wickets.

By the way, Indian Test wickets are at least thrice better than what PCB farmers prepare at home. I give you a clue - CT 2008, SAF V PAK, Mohali KO...............

Good to see Kohli trusting his pace attack.

Don't know what's that go to do with my comment, but okay. :srt

Binny's bowling a nice line still. 3 more tight overs and Aaron should cash in on the pressure built.

Ridiculous team selection, should have played 3 spinners and a quick instead of 4 bowlers and a part timer

India playing three pacemen in india.. has that happened before?

You said Indian wickets - some of the best Test wickets were prepared by IND in olden days. Old Chennai wicket in 70s was one of the fastest in world, Eden wicket as well. Bombay always swings & if you water that red caly, it will be one of the best Test wickets. Bangaluru was one of few sub continent wickets were both pacers & spinners won Test. It was first Gavasker's time that Indian wickets started to feed his stats - win the 1st Test & next 4/5 'll be high scoring draws & then, it was Azhar's time that Indian wickets were prepared for Anil Kumble. That indeed helped batsmen to pile up cheap stats, but Indian bowling never developed.

Indian wickets were fantastic for Test, it had everything for every type of player. If you go through stats of old Test matches, you 'll see some of the best pacers - Fazal, Hall, Mackenzi, Kapil, Lever, Botham, Willis, Roberts, Marshall, Holding ... & some of the best spinners - Benaud, Gibbs, Underwood had great Indian tours, not to mention batsmen.

I mentioned Mohali, because the recent Test doesn't represent old Mohali wicket.

Mate, I'm aware of the variety in Indian pitches. I was comparing to the recent pitches that were served in the last few series.

if its not broken, why fix it?

this is not a time to experiment..

Ishant has been bowling too short for this pitch/condition + leg stump line.

Gotta bowl full on middle and off/Outside off to have some purchase.

Fair enough. I think, it's an extremely poor decision; Virat might get away with because of the weather forecast; but if 400+ overs are played in this Test, IND is going to lose without the 2 premier bowlers of SAF. Last days' prediction is bright sunshine after 2 days of wet weather - you 'll see what is called double paced uneven wicket.

Ashwin introduced much earlier into the bowling, starts with a bang

Staan zyl gone plumb LBW

As expected. Indian pacers are useless.

Its spinners that always get wickets for India in India.

We have not even seen Varun Aaron here.

Ashwin is in form of his life. Day 1 pitch, helpful for pacers and he picks up a wicket 2nd ball !! :out

They bowled pretty well, kept the pressure. But 3 quicks were not needed, given our frail batting.

Ashwin missed OD series India lost . If Ashwin was injured in Test series India would have lost also.

I don't think it's out. His fingers were spread - ball must have got touch of the surface.

In before pitch whining brigade comes in and whinges on how spin friendly this pitch is, it isn't. In fact, both the wickets that fell so far was more due to Ash's flight and drift (+ pujaara's superb effort) and wrong judgement on the batsmen rather than spin.

I knew it would be given out cos these days they give it out.

20 years back, the fingers need to be fully underneath.

Now if you are in control, they give you out.

That looked not out , i think the bowl touched the ground .
What is Binny doing in the team , Kohli bowling first and unleashing Binny on Southafrica, but why ?

I have doubts too. But the soft signal from Kettleborough made the 3rd umpire give that.

No issues with the decision - a batsman is out when Umpire thinks he is, not necessarily he has to be & that's true other ways as well.

Technically, Pujara's right hand was blocked by his boot, only his left hand can be below the ball, which wasn't & it's not possible either to cover whole piece with one hand; but K'bouror thought it's out - fair enough.
