Been saying it for nearly 10 days now.

Ashwin hasn't been getting it right against lefties. Was frustrating to watch the ball drift to middle where wickets won't come unless the pitch really turns.

Was just now telling my dad that he needs to pitch at the off stump line (but drag it a little bit around good length and use the pressure built up) and wicket will come and it came. Haha.

Hopefull Ash gets atleast 4 out of 6 balls to lefties on this area. Something which he hasn't been doing this series.

SA need some poor batting and bowling by India to win the game , otherwise , India should win this easily.

AB seems to have lost confidence in his team mates ability to survive. So he is making runs quickly and trying to maximize the team score before he runs out of partners.

So India can't take down AB? I smell one really big innings from AB on this tour, given his form. Of course, he will need support from the other end.

Should use spin from both end now, Ishant's bowling looks toothless against ABD.

Another superb session for India.

Jaddu and Ashwin keeps the tight grip on SA and the game.

What a catch from Saha. Brilliant knock from AB. After that dismissal, he'll be even hungrier in the 2nd innings.

Why can't ABD get out ???

Cos our lejund captain dropped Mishra.

And that Ashwin is sticking to his annoying around the wicket line.

And we have to go for pacer-spinner combo cos we are playing with just 4 bowlers.

And last but not the least....ABD is one of the greatest ever to hold a bat.

Funny how they aren't even showing whether he gloved it or not

Because the on field umpire was convinced it was out, just wasn't sure whether Saha collected properly. Ridiculous, but that is the way this, or DRS for that matter, works

Kohli should e jailed for dropping Mishra for Binny. How ridiculous can a captain get? Mother of all bad team selections

We are doing well NOT BECAUSE of Kohli.

We are doing well INSPITE of Kohli this game.

Cmon. Just cos you are new and allowed to make bad decisions doesn't mean you can make 10,000 wrong decisions and correct it.

Amla really needs to stand up in the 2nd innings. He's been under-performing for far too long now.

India's catching has been brilliant.

Gotta finish off the tail quickly, can't let SA score in excess of 220.

ABD is such a dream player.

Needs to stop dancing when it spins and work on rock solid calm defense with occasional jumping down the track. Will go a long way in helping him notch big scores.

Looking at the cut Ishant is getting from the pitch, I am a touch concerned. Saffers have pacers who can exploit it far better than us.

You have a 140 k pacer waiting on a green track when the pitch is at it's freshest and you give the ball to a 120 k trundler
This is Comedy GOLD!
either over confidence or no difference in the captaincy approach for Azhar and Kohli.

How would folks say the wicket is?

SA won't be happy with this score, their third successive batting failure on this tour. Now India's turn to pile on 400 and put pressure.

the southafrican batting with all these newbies is seriously ordinary , England should beat these guys later this year .
India if they bat well can win by an innings here .

flat wicket, normal for day 1,negligible turn.

How come Saffer batsmen got out so quick?

You really have to wonder how good this Saffer lineup really is. They are coasting on the reputation built due to performances by Kallis, Smith and in form Du Plessis. Now the personnel has changed a lot but somehow they went into this series with the same strong team reputation

You could call it a sporting wicket.

Pacers were getting cut off the pitch.

Not much for spinners on day 1 (by Indian standards). Even the pitch report said it will turn from Day 3. Jaddu himself before the match said it would turn only later on.

Kohli dropped Mishra for Binny.

It turned in patches.

Kohli keeps getting abused but he keeps getting vindicated by his decisions

A very shaky start from Dhawan once again. Lucky, he didn't nick one to the keeper/slip cordon in that over.

Yes battler, another riveting day of cricket!

Not easy to get runs. But 214 was poor effort. Looks like a 300-350 wicket. But for that quick AB innings Saffers may have struggled to get 150, shows they are really struggling. Amla and Faf aren't adjusting to these pitches.

Made a bet with a mate that India will win this series. Need them to win this game to feel comfortable. No chance SA come back from 2-0.

India need to pile on the score though. Now's the time to put in a stellar batting performance. Wouldn't be confident chasing anything above 170.

Kinda agree with this.

Too much whining/whinging made on pitch rather the poor quality of batsmenship in display from both the sides. IMHO, Bengaluru wicket is nowhere near as bad as the SA's score made it look like.

lol at vindicated.

Binny bowled 3 overs.

Ash, Jaddu and poor SA batting hid his mistakes of dropping Mishra for Binny.

Nothing wrong in pointing out actual flaws in his captaincy.

Tbh there wasn't much in the pitch, a bit of seam movement initially and a bit of turn ocassionaly.
Don't be fooled by the scorecard SA should have atleast got 350 today even with their current line up.
Very poor batting even more so than Mohali I would say.

India will chase upto 250 easily . 275 onwards would challenge India

Yes battler, I've been writing for several months that South Africa is in steep decline.

This could end up being an inning's thrashing for South Africa. They need a special effort to get back in the game.

He still got the opposition out for 214 after winning the toss and fielding and in the end that is what counts. He took a gamble of seam over spin which didn't work but it was not a bad gamble, was an agressive move

Maybe wait until the game finishes? He obviously thought Jadeja and Ashwin would be enough to restrict the Saffers to a reasonable total - which they did.

The management probably wanted to strengthen the lower-order and if Binny plays valuable cameos in both innings then his selection will be vindicated.

End result is important but not everything as it doesn't indicate how things are in reality.

If we had 3 quality pacers who can be relied upon, I don't mind that move. I would praise it too.

But we have to understand our limitation.

If Ishant and Aaron can't get through in pitch, Binny won't make that big a difference. And unlike overseas spinners can keep it tight and come into play the moment pitch spins.

I love Kohli's attitude and approach but I would like him to make better decisions. He did the same with Rohit over Pujara in SL decision. If not for some injuries in SL, Pujara would be warming bench now.
