Sri Lanka doesn't have any promising young batsman. Chandimal, Thirimanne etc have average of around 30 which is good in this form but nothing special.

The way the ball was turning and the unpredictable bounce theirs no way sanga and co thought this was 300 run pitch otherwise they would not have shown vinay kumar that much respect.

For a game to go in Lankans way either of the two quality batsman (Jaya and Sanga) has to play most of the 50 over along with a brilliant knock from one or two players.

Else Indians will generally outscore Lankan... Sanga has played us so many time and he knows this equation very clearly

You are being to harsh on Tharanga. He has a penchant for scoring hundreds you have to give him that.

Yes, on flat tracks against mediocre bowling when he gets a ton of luck. Otherwise massive fail whale. Always has been and always will be. The guy is a lazy fella not one to work on his flaws. Relies solely on natural ability. That's why he's still at square one going fishin every time he gets the chance. Somehow always finds a way to get back into the team. Scores a few runs then nothing for the next few innings. Then somehow comes up with another decent knock when his place in the side is under threat. And so on it goes :facepalm:

Loves fishing outside the off stump that's for sure. Seems an improved version of Salman Butt.
 
Tharanga always baffles me! That guy can play one of the most exquisite strokes one ball and can get out like a tailender the next ball. Footwork and temperament, more so, is the problem.

The guy never looks set even when he's been there for 30 odd overs lol. That 170 odd knock was an absolute fluke. No footwork at all as I said the guy is a lazy bum. Not a hard worker.

But boy! Wasn't he a revelation when he started out? He already has 15-16 centuries I believe. Many predicted he'd be smashing few one day records. He is not doing justice to his talent! Always has the penchant for big opening partnerships too..

Talent can only get you so far. Bowlers have him sorted out now. Bowl just outside off and he'll get himself out. Decent player of spin though uses his feet and crease well. Worth a good run in the middle order I reckon. Should do a much better job than thirimanna the blockaholic. Definitely not as an opener.
 
Mr. Blockaholic looked pretty good in the tri series in Australia last year.
 
Angelo Mathews should give up bowling completely and become a number 3 for SL.

Pretty sure Marvan has put an end to that. His SR was actually around 80s and 90s. Now it's in the 60s. Similar story with Chandimal. Ever since Marvan took over batting has been very negative. It's like everyone is out to anchor the innings lol
 
Getting to see Dhawan's batting first time after CT. Always missed it because of travelling

Well Marvan wasn't the most thrilling batsman himself so that's what you can expect from him.
 
Sri Lanka bowling well, looks like it won't be all that easy afterall!

BTW Tharanga is fine, much better option than Kusal for sure, among all srilankan younger players I find Thrimanne to be the one to watch out for, definitely has a lot of potential, have seen him play some very good knocks.

Mathews is one such player whom you want in the team.. bats decent, bowls really well, fields excellent, provides that x-factor everywhere
 
Such a good bowling pitch. Dumb move playing 9 overs of part timers from dhoni.
 
Watch now, Lankans are smart enough not to take the pressure off by bowling part timers.
 
Matthews is a rubbish captain imo though. Doesn't look much of a leader to me. Like today should have tried to at least play out the 50 overs but tried to hit out. Same thing in that first WI game. Also quick to hang his head down when things don't go right.

Bowling has been really good. Eranga was exceptional. Herath is also a dangerman that can cause damage..
 
Karthik is another rubbish finding a spot in the eleven as a pure batsmen. He should never be in the team as pure batsman.

all the hiding ? when was that. every hiding we received those days, we gave it back right away. 99 world cup, 2003 world cup and other matches those days. thats why head to head is something like 50-75.
