India will look to wrap the Australian innings quickly and have a bat while Australia will rely on Steve Smith to rally the lower order into adding crucial runs. Crucial Day 3 action coming up :sachin :warne

^Alright. I'm usually on and off on PP. My activity usually increases when there is an India series. It used to be all India matches but now I'm leaning more towards tests.

It makes sense, since you are going towards adulthood :asif

I have been an adult for a while now :yk I have been test-centric since 1998. When I said Im leaning towards tests, Im talking about my appearances in PP.

Aussie tail is doing a fantastic job here. Lack of out n out pace bowler to skittle the lower order batter once again hurts India(besides MSD's laidback captaincy).

If OZs score anything over 350 then we will be in for big trouble when batting.

India will lose against any decent team away from home as long as Dhoni is captain and tried and tested failures like Ishant are playing.. without Zaheer and spinners being ineffective away from home, they will continue to get thrashed overseas. Bring on Umesh yadav and Sreesanth. Sreesanth>> Ishant sharma.

Lucky escape for Smith.

Aleem Darr has been surprisingly poor with his umpiring for nearly a year now.

come on now..that was a 50-50..:afridi

Agreed, It does look 50-50 in slo-mo replay. But it is one of those decisions if ump has given it out and batsmen had asked for a review will still find him been given out due to clipping of leg stump.

Match is a guaranteed draw unless India collapse or Australia improve on their craptastic bowling performances in this series.

benefit of the doubt should be given to batsmen especially when there's no DRS..

real thing is we miss umesh,if he was here...two yorkers and tail ended within 290.....but ryt now only aggressive batting can help us....that shower changed the pitch to a totally nonresponsive pitch, even a 3-0 will be disastrous for india in this series....pathetic stuff really.....

Same feelings here. Aussies can't lose this game from this position and already they have scored a decent enough 1st inning total. We have got just under 280 overs remaining. So if our batting collapses then there is a sure chance of a result and possibly in favor of Aussies.

Agreed completely. This is exactly what i posted few mins back. We badly miss a quality out n out pacer to bowl out oppositions. This is once again getting exposed here.

Edit: Meanwhile, Ojha comes and picks up the wicket of Smith

Very well played for a man making a comeback into th OZ side (and was widely panned by his detractors, according to them he is not a test material)

I thought this Starc guy was a specialist bowler wth, he averages 32.5 with bat in tests

Good knock by Smiffy, grabbed his chance. If the bunnies can lash to 400 it will have been a reasonable return. Time is now our enemy if we want to win this match.

Excellent innings by Smith unlucky to fall just short of a Century.
Very good innings by Starc too.

Come on Starc! Go get that century!

Smart Cricket by Aussies, making sure Lyon is exposed to strike as little as possible

so the 2 players who replaced the 2 axed players get 90+

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............................

Not to jinx this, but Starc could become the 16th man to score a century from No. 9

So Starc is 1 short of a ton at the same wicket where Hughes scored 2.

starc has now scored 50 times more than Clarke, Henriques, and Hughes combined.

Awesome lower order resistance from Ozs and in particular from Starc :14:

Starc = World class all rounder in making

Big knock though and badly needed

Guess I am doing a handstand, 400 is brilliant. I dont care if India make 700, at least our batters showed some spine this time. Well done to Meerkat Smith and Starc. Clarke first ball duck, should be dropped.

On the serious side, Phillip Hughes has sucked an enourmous amount this series. He cant play spin at all.

but he does his homework well:p

OZs 408 all out

India will have to bat smartly to overcome this big total.

1st goal = Avoiding follow on

@RA- Sorry 4 being noob. What is handstand?

Trickiest period to bat.

I hope we successfully negotiate this short 1 over before lunch.

Whoa! How casual this Dhawan dude is? He could have been gone for all the money without facing a delivery (mankaded)

Lol you're not getting out under 400 with Lyon bowling. Aussies are probably calling for Warne to come out of retirement

Seeing how fragile our batsmen are these days, you may never know what will happen to our 1st inning total against even a half decent pace bowling on a track like this (there is some assistance for pacers with reverse swing, Ishant was doing a decent enough job with old ball last evening)

Murali Vijay's technique is questionable. Noticeable gap between bat and pad.

Dhawan looks a bit more compact from the few balls he's faced.

Not just his technique but also his temperament too. IMHO, He does not seems to be putting any value to his wicket. Bit too casual for my liking as a Test opener.

I hope that both Vijay and Dhawan do well. Dont ever want that fugly ftb sewage to be brought back into the team.

So a remarkable performance by the OZ. I liked the way Smith approached his inning. Starc has made Mitch's way back into the team even more difficult with today's effort IMO.
