Its like arguing with a wall.

You need skill to swing or seam a ball.

Pray tell the skill required to bowl and pray that it hits a crack.

yet...wicket on a bouncing ball due to the pitch is alright ...or swinging ball due to grass is okay !!!! dont you see bowlers who do not do as well in normal conditions..do well in swinging bounce conditions..even likes of Seesanth had field days !!! the thing is....any extra help is luck !!

this is as much a challenge to english batsmans as it is for desi batsmans away!!

Even cricindia is getting in on the Indians appealing everything.

15.3

Ojha to Pietersen, no run, huge appeal for bat before wicket. Inside-edged, big inside edge

by Monga lol.

Next tour, England should arrange every warm up again against India playing their B team spinners for practice on rank turners.

Then prepare 5 Trent Bridge-esque tracks playing our best quicks.

I wouldn't want to see us stoop to their level to be honest.

I like the healthy variety of pitches we have in England and wouldn't want to see the ECB or team captain leaning on curators in the style of the BCCI or MS Dhoni.

2 wickets and people start whining....preparing pitches to home team strengths is also against "spirit of cricket " I guess...spirit which English is famous for..and use to their convenience !!!

people will stop whining when KP plays well now..

So much drivel in this post.

When the hell was swing caused by grass. If you think this please go clear your head.

You havent answered my question. Tell me the skill required to bowl and hopefully hit a crack.

No, pitches in England don't help the bowlers unless it is cloudy. Have you not seen SA at Lord's, or Oval? Or England?

And it isn't luck. Why did Praveen "King of Swing Mk2" not get as many wickets as Jimmy or Broad?

Because you control swing, seam and bounce. You don't control low bounce.

And if it goes low bounce late, that's because the pitch deteriorates. Most pitches don't start this bad.

Err..because it was your home..and your batsmans are used to it..and we had a deteriorating side !! but I agree....we need skills...but even a normal ball can become deadly due to conditions too....in bouncy /swinging conditons !!

Ofcourse I'm furious. Cook was denied a first innings chance at another century by a howler, and the wicket is atrocious.

No wonder we see an Aussie whinging here. Ponting did the same after the monumental collapse in Mumbai.

It is a habit to criticize pitches in subcontinent whenever non desi touring side collapses..in this case..2 wickets fall !!

I don't think he's whinging. He's making valid criticisms. It's not as if it's his team that's been on the receiving end of unsportsmanlike behaviour from the BCCI is it?

Well not yet, anyway...

lol as if Indians don't whinge about decisions.

If your best batsman in the team was given out wrongly that too an opener at the start of the match is as cruel as it gets.

Throuhgout this series Indian fans have been busy bagging their own team rather than decisions. Dont know what series you hav been watching. Some England fans on the other hand :rondu

it isnt a dustbowl guys, why the whining?havent seen a pitch with low bounce in SC before?

Ha, no it can't.

The ball doesn't swing if you don't have the ability to do it. How well did Sharma bowl in England? You best pacer was a bowler who knew how to swing the ball.

11 wickets at 58.18. Yeah, he used our conditions well didn't he?

Sreesanth, 8 at 62.

His deliveries were deadly in bouncy/swinging conditions eh? How come all three of our main bowlers had more wickets at a lower average than your pacers if their bowling became deadly?

Swing is a skill that takes control to actually be good.

Praveen got lots of swing. Probably swung it more than Jimmy. But was too slow, and got too much of it so that he could comfortably miss the bat every time. Ours knew how to control it so it swung enough for edges or lbws but didn't overshoot it.

Did you also get furious when cook was given not out twice or thrice..and was main reason for your win..or when trott was given not out earlier...please do not tell me that was umpire's call..it was plumb...

wicket is atrocious coz yous batsmans are out???

let us decide if the pitch is atrocious after a while??KP looks comfortable there..

Umpire's call. Plenty of people above saying it too. If the ball is on edge of the line of hawkeye, it's umpire's call. Even cricindia hasn't called it plumb.

I think the third umpire is S Ravi (former Ranji player) not Ravi Shastri (former Indian captain).

Peterson usually scores big once in a series, so I dont expect him to stay for too long. The only threat batting wise will come from Prior.

In spite of all the ramblings in this thread, the pitch isn't hard to score as much as a slow scoring pitch. Someone like Broad or Finn might have found this pitch more favorable than any of the spinners, Ishant would also like this pitch due to his height.

Holy this is boring. I'm of to sleep. Hope I wake up with India batting.

I dont understand why some fans are getting so emotional in this thread. Take a chill pill guys, enjoy the match instead of crying about it or defending the pitch as if you life depend on it. Just chill and watch the match in peace.

Chillax guys (directed at Both English n Indian PPers here in this thread) :)
KP and Trott looks well settled now, anything over 300 from England in 1st Innings then we are gone for sure.
