Good partnership actually, but a thoroughly pedestrian dismissal for Trott.

Clearly India's average cricketers are only going to get wickets on this from a batsmen's mistake, an umpiring error, or a run-out.

Let's grind out 300 and see what our superior bowlers can do.

Pietersen is a class apart, so often looks like he is playing on a different pitch.

Bell really needs to chip in with a decent knock.

Ishant getting the ball to move in, looks like pitch offers more assistance to seamers than spinners :))

IPL fan ?

Age 14 ??

NO

and

NO

I love test cricket. That was just a statement. The slower the play goes the better bcz this is test and a batsmen should take his time.

Saved man peterson is lucky. The golden rule never run on a misfield was disobeyed and he got himself dangered.

Just tuned in.....3 wickets, 3 gifts.....

Still dont see any positives from Indian Bowlers viewpoint. The turn is the big surprise, or rather the lack of it. Apparently, we will get to know if there is really any turn only after Monty and Swann get in.

Ishant Sharma, one over into his spell, has just wandered off the pitch - if he's injured that will be a problem for Dhoni. Piyush Chawla into the attack

lets hope he's not pregnant...

Out tossed up and Bell played too early. Way to go bell you just keep on being a disappointing.

1 from 27. after playing 27 balls you would think he would see through the deceptive flight of the ball.

why india playing with 3/4 spinners and only 1 fast bowler....
Pitch is looking more fast bowler friendly....

Bell is so pathetically poor.

Bell is moronically pathetically poor. He should have seen through the deception flight and then he chips it.

Joe root on lets see if he does something on his debut.

lulled is right....it was a lulloo ball.

But I was guessing something like this would happen seeing Bell get stuck for 1/28.

Joe root Arrives...real test for him in these conditions..attacking field from dhoni

Even 200 AO would have us in the game tbqh.

Our bowlers are that good and India are that poor.

Can we take 3 more wickets today ? we are being saved by senselessly defensive batting with a rr of 1.92 .

Agnew on tms : "At the moment, England are making slow progress towards being horribly bowled out for not enough. How do you know what's a good score here?"

Lovely off-drive from Root for 3.

Has already surpassed Bell with that shot lol.

Agnew's pretty senile, I wouldn't hold up his opinion as anything authoritative.

Apparently Root is more in the mold of Trott and Compton. At No 6 in though, he may not be that used to an old ball and slow pitch. If only India could take advantage of that.....

@James: Sure you are yourself today? :) Usually you don't lean that far over the edge

Well well just shows how weak bell is mentally. He either goes over the top or blocks everything. Just stool there and blokes hell of a lot. Very poor.

These are very attritional conditions. I'm not concerned.

Beautiful work from Root so far, my word. Yorkshire!!!! :)

its a crazy mindset .... were they scoring at 3 per over,it would be around 185/4 right now .

I think its a draw mindset. Only wickets started falling due to their own stupidity and bad decisions.

you know how English are .... Stewart was ranting on tms that if we win this series,it would be the biggest thing since last 25 years -even bigger than Ashes .
This kind of hype produces such dull defensive cricket as we have seen today by visitors.

That was a runout but the throw was bad chawala was nowhere. cant explain but very wrong.

Dhoni's the one being defensive with his single seamer and conservative field placings.

I am going to hate saying this....but please bring back Jadeja....at least he was blocking one end up and turning over one maiden after another.

KP 68 (178), very uncharacteristic and also very pleasing because of that.

I'd take 220/5.

India would have had about 3 run outs today if they could field.

LOL the Indian commentary is horrendous, I didn't realise quite how bad it was.

They haven't even mentioned the Cook shocker, and Manjrekar is still chuntering on about the Trott call.

Totally engineered. And I bet over there they swallow every word of it and every little fabricated history.
Dravid praising KP at tea .... more engineering & manipulation by BCCI :akhtar

England somehow have to scrape to 300 and then depend big time on Bressielad to put in a hard slog with the ball bowling wikut to wikut.
