Acceleration is overrated. In 2/3 completed games we haven’t batted 50 overs. There is no way we can afford a batsman as unreliable as Asif specially when Malik is also playing
 
Raining heavy in rochdale oldham shaw and light showers in bolton .... match defintely off guys go to bed ..

The thing with 20 20 match is, you know that you have 40 overs and how much time you need to bowl these. And you could fit that into current scenario to have 20 20 overs match whenever you get good dry period.

With current situation, you start with 50 overs. And if a team has batted to say 25 overs and starts consolidating after being 4-5 down, to play all 50 overs but just then, it started to rain and match has to be reduced, there is no chance for the team batting to continue and now it has to come on field and defend DLS score, which is unfair to them. And since the match has reduced, the team batting first may have batted 25 overs, but 2nd innings could be 20 overs, so it all gets complicated.

I think ICC should just convert such matches to t20 given the weather. instead of wasting time with dls

Match very likely to be abandoned as heavy rain with thunderstorms are coming to Manchester in next 4 to 5 hours and will continue all afternoon.

No 20 20 no nothing.

Very sad but there is nothing we can do.
 
If outfield is okay then game may start on time but biggest concern will be when rain comes during day even when it stops ground womt be dry to resume due to lack of full covers and also looking like it will continue to be cloudy and damp rather than sunny after rain breaks.
 
Need new format for todays game. Two set of 20 over innings. If rain in first set we have result. If no rain the. You get second innings and total score is used to determine win like a test. Only question would be do you get wickets back or they are lost and you resume.

Fans should start throwing out their jackets on the field if they don't come out with enough covers even today.
 
Not supporting anyone but at work there’s a south indian, I was winding up by saying am supporting Pakistan today against India.

India winning helps Bangladesh, as Both BD Pk chasing 4th. So it be better for India as they’ll be one of the top 3 anyway. AND am sure Pak fans will support India against BD because of the exact reasons I mentioned, chasing 4th spot.


But We ALL know who will win anyway. It will be...

One last thing. If bowling first we should bowl out Amir in first 20 to 25 overs and try to take more wickets as well that will help in dls score and after rain break we wont be able to use his full quota.
 
If the game is on.. pakistan's main obstacle to playing well is passion and team spirit. Of all teams in world cricket thats,what pak players are lacking most in. Thats why they are "unpredictable". Like only play well when they put the effort in. Most Other teams always put the effort in 100% .

Bro forget it. Hardly 15 to 20 overs will get bowled today.
 
It’s not over, till it’s actually abandoned. Pray to Allah, that the game goes ahead. For sure the ICC will be praying it goes ahead, big money loss, if it doesn’t go ahead and finishes.

Weather forecast can predict, guess, give you an idea but it’s not 100% always accurate. Only Allah truly knows the future !

The fans that want this game abandoned - why? We are basically out of SF contention anyway. 1 point does not bring us any closer. I'd rather watch a much awaited game of cricket than cling on to some foolish hope that rain outs will take us to the semis - they wont.

Yes it is. If the match is played it wont be a contest atall.I dont care about 1 point as i dont see Pak beating both NZ & SA in next matches.

its a sport anything can happen..id rather lose out flat then.. atleast it meant we didnt deserve to be in the semi rather than rain dictate terms

Indeed. In sports between two competitive sides, anyone can win. Sure there might be slight or more fav than another but it means nothing once you’re in the field.

As for rain. It’s cricket and rain always plays a part. It even confuses some, ask SA about 2003. That’s not going to go away unless there’s rooftop cricket stadiums built.

icc failed there we are in 2019 and imagine if it rains for two straight days there will be joint winners for a world cup final..thats laughable..what has icc done all these past years the sport has not expanded at all..for a world cup they should use astroturf with proper drainage systems especially for a country like england imo.interest seems to be dwindling outside the subcontinent..icc got lucky having a country with over a billion people going crazy about cricket or else sport might have been dead

If it's washed out we have played 5 matches, 2 NR, 2 losses and 1 win over 02 weeks ago and somehow we are supposed to churn out 4 wins on the trot.

I don't believe Pakistan can win 4 on the trot.
 
Regardless of the result of this match, Sarfraz's men will be playing atmost 4 more matches in this tour.

Pakistan should look to win the toss and bowl first. Heard Malik will stay, while Asif will be dropped. Will be a huge mistake if that happens. Malik looks completely out of sorts, while Asif will be instrumental if we need a quick cameo.
 
How big are the boundaries at this ground? Sick and tired of the mickey mouse grounds so far.

Yes thought of this and was gonna post it. If there is any chance of rain through the first innings, just bowl amir out innfirst 2 hours.

Hopefully the match gesmts reduced to 35 40 overs and he will already have bowled 10

Search under old Trafford and look under hourly to see for yourself.

Play will DEFINITELY start on time at 1030 and we should get 2 hours uninterrupted play until 1130 or 12.

After 12 rain will start with possible thunderstorms and this could stop play. It is currently scheduled to rain all day after this BUT if the clouds drift away from ground we could get play.

Most likely match will start. But the chance of rain will be gradually increasing over time from 60% to over 80% by the evening.
 
I think we will get a game but DRS will play a role. A rain-affected match is Pakistan’s best opportunity of fluking a win today.
 
It's most likely we'll see short game in terms of overs. So Imad Wasim should get back in the XI in place of Imam
 
I think we will have 40+ over games each innings. Bad signs for Pakistan as we generally dont do well in DLS games. At 01:00 pm, near lunch, we may get a shower.

India is not a great side under pressure these days . Pak has to eventually will at some point , so I would give them a decent chance even otherwise

India is a far better side. If they have their best game we don’t stand a chance, although the absence of Dhawan is a big positive for Pakistan.

Of course. When you play a vastly superior side, you not only need to play very well you also need a slice of luck.

If both India and Pakistan play their best cricket, India will win, simply because they are a much stronger team.

That is why, Pakistan has to play well and hope that India are below their best. That is how they managed to beat England as well. It wasn’t just because we played good cricket, but because Roy, Bairstow, Morgan, Stokes and Archer were all below par.
