Actually these type of pitches give SA the best chance. On a Bangalore type wicket SA would have been wiped out.
Ab's innings in Bangalore would have been virtually useless if the match had gone on as India would have piled up the runs and SA would have crumbled under 2nd innings pressure.
If Ab can play Bangalore type knock here it would give SA a great chance.

Yah, but need to get you guys at some reasonable total otherwise not much can happen.

Faf is poor against spin. Bhai and AB are the only hopes for SA. This is a very difficult pitch to bat on. Jadeja's darts will be deadly. Don't see anyone surviving them. :P

If Ab can play a Bangalore type innings here, SA would be in with a great chance.

True. Its like Indian bowlers being benefited by super green tracks abroad. Tracks will make sure that no matter who you are, if you can spin the ball, batsmen will be in trouble.

so no roads, instead the entire test series is a straight shootout. whoever wins the toss, wins the game.

Rain pretty much saved them against Bangladesh from major embarrasment , AB is literally carrying this side. Smith is a major loss as a captain and gutsy opening batsman.how does DeCock not get a game against his favourite opponents ??
When going 1 nil down or needing a win against Pakistan and Srilanka , Southafrica have resorted to ball tempering , they have been happy to concede 5 runs to get an advantage in the game , not sure if they are going to resort to that with the increased vigilance over here though .

If we score 300+ here, i think SA are screwed anyway. Need a big daddy hundred from one of our bats and shut SA out of this series for good.

If Tahir bowls these kind of overs then it's better to go back to Dean.

He is trying to bowl his leggies, should just concentrate on his googlies.
Pitch is good enough to do the rest if he lands them on the correct spot.

Missing Dale badly here. With rough, ball is reversing so quickly.

We're already 70/2.

If this match was being played in Australia we would have got 375 before the fall of the second wicket.

We'd be lucky to get 375 in total now.

Bangalore. SA 215 all out and India 80/0.

Both sides expected pitch to swing and seam but it didn't.

Didn't see any straight shoot out there. ;-)

I am still hopeful to see some fight despite losing toss. I will be hugely disappointed if we bat poorly again in both innings.

I lost hope when this bunch capitulated on a surface that was true in the 2nd test.
I agree with you above, I prefer an inform Amla to an inform AB. He is too much of a tease, cameos of 60/80's ain't gonna win you games.
AB is due a bad game this series, and Amla a good one. But who will support Amla? Everyone has looked at sea.
And how is the pitch playing so far?

It's turning quite big, Sa spinners have to utilize this pitch, anything above 300 posted by India on this pitch and Sa will be virtually out of this game.

No steyn or philander...
Wonder when they'll heal up

Philander out for the entire series. Doubtful for the first two tests against Engurland. Steyn still doubtful for the next test. This series has been a nightmare

Well, if we've learned one thing this series it's that Indian spinners >> SA spinners. Can't see this ending well for us.

250 will be a mammoth first innings total here.

Mishra + Ashwin + Jaddu will be too hot to handle for SA.

Wow ths pitch is amazing for spin.

As usual Indians making it look a touch better.

300 here would be amazing.

Not an easy pitch to bat at all. Some of the balls are tough.

My God. That advertisement about this "Jaya Travel" company was so cringe-worthy. I am sure that this is an example of negative-advertising; people are going to make sure that they never associate with such a company. At least pick some actors who don't speak with such a heavy accent, if you're targeting communities in the West.

Another rank-turner, don't see South Africa winning this. This series has been a let-down for me, I expected a much more even contest.

Rahane's biggest problem is that he FREAKING DOES NOT get to the pitch of the ball to smother the spin.

He gets forward but not enough.

Use your legs Rahane. Use it.

Bilal bhai, what's your prediction for this match?

Lol, the Indian commies showing their lack of knowledge about bowling once again. This guy arguing that pacers would love to bowl on such tracks is talking nonsense. Rightly put in his place by the Saffer.

I think rank turners make the contest more even considering Indian batting against spin these days.

In Bangalore, it was more of a no contest than in Mohali or here in Nagpur.

But yeah....I can see that from a neutral point of view, this series may not be that exciting cos SA are always under pressure. But you never know. That's the beauty of rank turners and green tops. It reduces the gap between sides on a surface.

Kohli looking good. He should try and be more patient in test cricket if he wants to join the likes of Williamson, Root and Smith as the next generation's batting stars.

This is that kind of pitch where you are not sure whether to attack all out while batting as Indians are doing here or bide your time and try to bat long. Attack when not sure I guess.

Congrats India on winning this game, really don't see SA doing anything other than crumbling under pressure :))

I predicted 4:0 for India. Unfortunately, looks like it's going to be 3:0 instead. My username is Bilal7, FYI, refer to me using that if you must.

Sorry bilal7, thought it would be okay since you're a fan of :amla bhai.

Anyway the series is panning out the way you predicted thanks to your blessings. Keep the predictions coming bilal7.

But i know technique somewhat overrated but he really don't have technique as good as KW or Root may be on par with smith even though you may say smith has too big a trigger movement but at point of contact he is really stable. technically speaking he is not best bat in his team let alone in the world rahane and murli vijay has better technique.

I hope your posts cease coming.

Just have to play properly samplepiece.

Punish the loose balls and get to the pitch of the ball otherwise.

For me...the best exhibition of how to play spin in India (by Indians in the last 4-5 years) was

1. Pujara of Delhi 2013 - no words to describe this knock
2. Pujara of Mumbai 2012
3. Ashwin of Kolkata 2012

The biggest factor was their feet movement and how they smothered the spin. That's something none of them are doing well these days (barring Vijay).

As I am speaking, Rahane out.

Do you agree with me Bilal7 bro?

Good ball by Morkel but Rahane underestimated him, I think. This happens frequently on such pitches, the batsmen forget that they have to give respect to the pace bowlers too.

Rohit Sharma is going to be crucial here, he can take the game away from South Africa or can give them the advantage by getting out early.

Completely. Kohli has some obvious technical defects and is inferior to batsmen like Rahane, Williamson, Root, etc. Still a quality batsman that any side would love to have.

Taaaalent looked at sea against spin in freaking Australia, gonna be fun here watching him bat.
