When: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings, Match 44, October 25, 14:00 Local, 15:30 IST

Where: Dubai International Stadium

What to expect: There has been an inversion to the bat-first doctrine so prevalent in the first half of the tournament despite the pitches getting tired. The last four games in Dubai have seen chasing teams succeed. David Warner revealed that dew was setting in the second innings allowing the ball to skid on better. Despite this being an afternoon fixture, teams wouldn't mind fielding first given the slight dip in temperatures in late October. There is forecast for a comforting breeze that'll blow across the ground in the afternoon.

Squads:

Royal Challengers Bangalore Squad: Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli(c), AB de Villiers(w), Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Chris Morris, Washington Sundar, Isuru Udana, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shahbaz Ahmed, Moeen Ali, Pawan Negi, Umesh Yadav, Josh Philippe, Pavan Deshpande, Adam Zampa, Parthiv Patel, Dale Steyn, Shivam Dube

Chennai Super Kings Squad: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, N Jagadeesan, MS Dhoni(w/c), Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir, Josh Hazlewood, Shane Watson, Kedar Jadhav, Piyush Chawla, Murali Vijay, Karn Sharma, Lungi Ngidi, Monu Kumar, Mitchell Santner, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, KM Asif

A dead rubber for CSK. It's about finding out who we are keeping and who we aren't. Also questions need to be asked about Dhoni as captain and Fleming as coach.

Worlds greatest cricket standard

Opening bowlers: Chahar and Monu

CSK needs to be dissolved completely if IPL wishes to hold leverage over other Franchise tournaments

What a pathetic unit of cricketers

The entire franchise CSK held its prestige in IPL due to Dhoni’s iconic status as India’s legendary captain. That reputation has been dented or is as good as over.

As soon as he goes, how else will CSK market it’s franchise? You have oldies like Watson who are doing themselves no favour by clinging on. Jadeja is as good a cricketer as Dhoni can make him play.

They are practically the AC Milan of franchise cricket. About to extinct into irrelevance

Mitchell Santner is a very good cricketer but if you have Jadeja, I don't see why you need Santner as well. Would have been better to have a specialist batter in the squad.

AB in.

Maybe time to bring Tahir on as AB and Kohli have struggled at times against leg spin in the IPL.

Santner gets his first wicket, another brilliant Faf effort at the boundary.

Weird foreign policy league this is..

A full on Pakistani got South African nationality due to his spouse has played years of IPL. Azhar Mahmood played the very season he got his British passport.

Most catches in 2019 IPL: Faf Du Plessis

Most catches in 2020 IPL: Faf Du Plessis

AB will probably enjoy playing the pacers . He is set. Need to get him out asap.

Anything less than 160 will be easy for CSK as they will be very aggressive today.
And chasing teams are winning.

AC Milan is top of the ladder right now. AC Milan haven't lost a game in 18 matches.

Most sixes in IPL:

336 - Chris Gayle
231* - AB de Villiers
216* - MS Dhoni
209 - Rohit Sharma
200* - VIRAT KOHLI

Moen Ali is a good player of spin. He could be an important player for RCB for the rest of the tournament.

Tough chase for CSK may be? Dubai wicket had been notorious this year.

Plenty of runs on the board

Sundar and Chahal will choke CSK to death

Faf is definitely going to be retained. If Dhoni isn't going to remain as captain, I wouldn't be upset to see Faf as captain . He was an excellent captain for South Africa.

If you take top ten highest paid players in current CSK squad Faf Du Plessis doesn't even feature in the list but he has been one of the most valuable player in this season.

A wicket but sloppy performance in the field by RCB up to now

Why RCB bowlers trying hard with pace?
They missing trick here on slow track.

This is where positive cricket can get you. Big lesson for CSK management for next season.

Pitch was not bad...RCB couldn't capitalize in Death Overs and didn't bat properly in Middle Overs.

Had to look it up which state Gaikwad plays for after hearing Sunny G drooling over him. No wonder he plays for Maharashtra.

The real difference is that CSK are playing trundlers and RCB are playing fast bowlers.

On some pitches and on some day, you win matches by trundlers not fast bowlers. This was one of them.

Lol Siraj and Morris are as quick as Chahar and Monu :)) :)) :))

RCB aren't guaranteed a play off place. They are known to choke and have Mumbai and Delhi to play. Let's see how they react in the coming games.

Gaikwad has shown lot of spark today. Hopefully he smashes one or two now as well if MS missed out on that :))

I think we already qualified.
14 points enough for 4th place with +ve NRR.

You never know with RCB. They are capable of imploding against Mumbai and Delhi.

I do hope RCB win the tournament with CSK now out anyway.

CSK may or may not make it to the playoffs but they sure have put a dent in RCB's hopes of finishing in the top two. Tough for RCB now!

Here is your spark old man!

3 matches, and just 2 matches at the preferred position to spark to reveal itself.
