Former Afghan national cricket hero and left-arm fast bowler Shapoor Zadran is facing health problems, according to family members and cricket board sources.

Zadran’s brother, Ghamai Zadran, said in a Facebook post on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, that Shapoor Zadran is dealing with health-related complications.

Meanwhile, sources within the Afghanistan Cricket Board said Zadran’s white blood cell count has dropped, describing the situation as concerning. No further medical details were provided.

Shapoor Zadran was among Afghanistan’s key players during the early years of the national cricket team. He played a decisive role in Afghanistan’s first-ever Cricket World Cup victory in 2015, helping secure a win against Scotland.

Zadran retired from international cricket in 2025, ending a career that spanned more than a decade and left a lasting impact on Afghan cricket.
