A rampant Mumbai Indians rode on Rohit Sharma's (70) second consecutive fifty to pulverise a hapless Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets in their Indian Premier League match on Wednesday

Mumbai Indians' fourth win on the trot, which took them to the third spot from the earlier sixth on the points table, came after SRH posted a below-par 143/8 and Rohit making the most of the perfect batting conditions to score 70 off 46 balls (8x4s, 3x6s). MI scored 146/3 in 15.4 overs to win the match with 26 balls to spare, with Suryakumar Yadav hitting a 19-ball 40 not out (5x4s, 2x6s).

Gujarat Titan' Sai Sudharshan continues to lead the run-charts, and holds the Orange Cup with a tally of 417. GT's Prasidh Krishna holds the Purple Cap, as his 16 wickets are the most by anyone so far.

Mumbai is too good a side to be at the bottom. I think they are winning 6th title. They know how to go on a run.

I don't think so.they have beaten the crap out of hopeless srh , kkr, csk for 4 wins.they won against delhi in miraculous fashion.they will have to play against the strong teams now in next 5 matches at the business end . If mi are really strong they will get in to semis otherwise remains a mid table team.

RCB is once again doing an ok job in the group stage, just to reach the playoffs and throw all that away.

GT for the title or DC

MI's next games are against RR & LSG which are rather easy... They are surely making it to playoffs. The ones in the table at the moment are likely to make the playoffs (and probably in the same order - GT, DC, MI & RCB). MI may go all the way to win it...

mi will play against lsg at wankhade on sunday afternoon. So i think its not going to be easy against as lsg is full of ftbs like marsh, pooran, markram , miller etc. Who ever loose it will have severe implications and may find very tough to get back in.most probably mayank will be playing to make it tough for mi .rr match is in Jaipur and it's slow/tricky pitch is complete anti thesis for MI batsman. They need to grind their runs.if mi won the ipl, this will be one of their toughest wins and proud achievements.

It will be either GT or MI.

Other two would be DC and one of either RCB or PBKS.

Last two games Rajasthan could not chase 9 from final over , it will be interesting today what they need of final over.

Stunning over by Hazelwood so far , Rajasthan need a boundary here , very very crucial ball coming.

There we go , Dubey to face last over , 17 to win , 16 for super over !

They need a six of within first two balls.

Yash Dayal against a left-handed finisher. Can Dubey pull a Rinku? He needs fewer runs of course !!

What a poor hitter Shivam Dubey is.. got a juicy fulltosses but cant able to clear the boundary.. missed one in Hazlewood over too.. also did Hetmyer finish any game for RR?

Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Rajasthan Royals by 11 runs at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday to end their home ground jinx in IPL 2025

This was the first match that RCB won in Bengaluru this season, having lost the previous three games at the venue. Coming to the game, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal scored fifties as RCB posted 205 for 5 after getting an invitation to bat first. Kohli scored 70 runs off 42 balls while Devdutt Padikkal hit 50 off 27 balls. The duo stitched a solid 95-run stand for the second wicket. For RR, Sandeep Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 45. In the chase, RR were in command at several points but Josh Hazlewood's 4 for 33 and Krunal Pandya's 2 for 31 eventually sealed the game for RCB.

Btw if you are looking for Shivam Dubey who played for India in the last T20 WC & plays for CSK, this ain’t him. This RR guy is Shubham Dubey, a Domestic player who has & will never play for India. Easy mistake to make :)

I mean Shubham.. he also cost RR couple of matches by dropping catches..

Wins required to reach 16 Points - a probable cut-off for playoffs:

GT - 2 in 6 matches.
DC - 2 in 6 matches.
RCB - 2 in 5 matches.
PBKS - 3 in 6 matches.
MI - 3 in 5 matches.
LSG - 3 in 5 matches.
KKR - 5 in 6 matches.
SRH - 6 in 6 matches.
CSK - 6 in 6 matches.
RR - CANNOT

Number of wide runs conceded by each team in IPL 2025:
81 - RR
64 - MI
63 - LSG
50 - GT
45 - CSK
45 - DC
44 - SRH
43 - PBKS
32 - RCB
29 - KKR

This is humiliation to someone's legacy! Dhoni after winning title couple of years back should have called end to it... Too much commercialization of something doesn't look good...

GT , DC and RCB are likely to be through.

MI and Lucknow and Punjab will fight for the last spot.

CSK are all but out of the edition after losing to SRH by 5 wickets in their IPL 2025 match at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Friday

Harshal Patel bagged a four-wicket haul as SRH bundled out CSK for 154 after opting to bowl first. Dewald Brevis top-scored for CSK with a 25-ball 42, while Ayush Mhatre continued his impressive start to IPL with another cameo at the top. He hit 30 off 18 balls. SRH stumbled in the chase but an unbeaten 49-run stand between Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Reddy eventually sealed the game for them. A loss for CSK meant that they stayed at the bottom spot in the points table with just two wins in nine matches. The MS Dhoni-led side has lost seven matches and stands on the brink of elimination.

Shastri earmarks four uncapped IPL youngsters headed for higher honours

Former India coach Ravi Shastri has shared high praise for the new generation of young batters lighting up the Indian Premier League and has earmarked four players set for an international career in the future.

Shastri discussed the new breed of youngsters on show at the ongoing IPL with host Sanjana Ganesan on the latest episode of The ICC Review and the India legend admitted he has been taken aback by the fearless approach by some of the teenage sensations who have taken the tournament by storm.

The former India coach made mention of the audacity and talent he has seen on display from youngsters such as Chennai Super Kings’ Ayush Mhatre and Rajasthan Royals’ Vaibhav Suryavanshi, as well as Punjab Kings’ aggressive opening pair of Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh - and he believes the quartet could well replicate this form at international level in the future.

“The two Punjab openers (Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh) as well, they give it a smack," Shastri began.

"It's as if these youngsters who have come in now, they're 14 years, 17 years of age and it's see it, hit it in the first six overs.“

Arya has been in sublime form since the start of the tournament, with the 23-year-old smashing 254 runs from eight innings at a monstrous strike rate of 201.58, including a rollicking hundred against CSK.

Mhatre, just 17, was roped in as a replacement for the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad, and struck 32 off just 15 balls, including four boundaries and two maximums, leaving the fans and experts stunned alike with his bold strokeplay against a star-studded Mumbai Indians line-up.

“The shots, the three shots this Ayush Mhatre played against the Mumbai Indians the other night in Mumbai…" Shastri marvelled at.

“The way he took off, unbelievable shots for a 17-year-old, against a star-studded Mumbai Indians line-up to come out and express himself in that fashion caught everyone's eye.

“I think Ayush Mhatre has got a future. When I look at him, some of the shots he played, I think this guy, if he's handled properly and is with the right kind of people, he is someone who can go a long way."

The emotion and intensity on display from another young prodigy, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, also struck a chord with Shastri.

The batter opened the innings against Lucknow Super Giants and struck a whirlwind 34 off 20, including tonking Shardul Thakur for a six off his very first ball in the IPL.

“I think the first shot he played, that would have taken everyone's breath away," Shastri said.

"But, he's young, so I would say just let him play a bit because it's at that age, there's bound to be failure as well. It's how he handles failure."

Shastri also pointed out how the IPL has become a launching pad for untapped potential across India, with youngsters fearlessly stepping onto the big stage. But on the other hand, he also issued a word of caution.

“People will come up with new things. There'll be lots of short stuff thrown at him. When you tonk someone's first ball for six, then you show no mercy. Then you don't care whether he's 14 years old or 12 years old or 20 years old," he added.

“The menu is the same that you dish out. So, he'll have to get used to that and once we see him handling that then you can make a proper judgment.”

India’s white-ball talent pool keeps growing deeper every season, with the likes of Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Abhishek Sharma and others proving their mettle season in and out for a spot in the national team.

Shastri acknowledged the selection headache for India selectors, but urged them to back players when they’re in form.

“This just shows in white-ball cricket, the abundance of talent that's floating around, in India. It's a big headache for the selectors," Shastri noted.

“But when you think someone is hot, give him the run because you know it's very important not just to just watch him and we'll see him next season after he has one good season but if he's hot and confident and you think you know he’s ticked most boxes even to raise the bar at a higher level, pick him.”

This IPL is already a very long tournament. There should be no reason to play just 1 game on a Saturday.

Even during football world cup we see triple headers but IPL keep forcing these single game on viewers. Shame!

Triple headers won't get viewers as unlike football cricket is watched mainly by Indians..

Thanks bcci for ruining another speedster.

Making him a line length bowler
Dolts

What a spell from Bumrah. 4/22. mumbai is going to win this IPL. They are back to the best . :kp

Royal Challengers Bengaluru's bowlers have bowled only one no-ball this entire season, and that came today from Yash Dayal.

With addition of Corbin today MI looks formidable. If they reach the playoffs, they will be favorites to lift the trophy unless they encounter a spin friendly pitch.

Ohhhh revenge game... Can Kohli lead RCB to a win today and take revenge on Rahul...

Rahul's celebration went quite rival when he won the last game

In the beginnning Krunal looked like a tailender, but he has managed to hang on and score a 50 now...

Perseverance!

Mukesh is the worst bowler to bowl for India! even Dinda was better than this fellow

RCB would prefer to encounter DC or Punjab in the finals. They have mental block against SRH & CSK (Glad these two teams may not make the playoffs). KKR & RR are other two smart teams (in playoffs, but this time they won't be in playoffs).

I remember RCB winning against MI in a playoff but that was perhaps long back. Current MI is a beast in playoffs, so it will be tough for RCB to beat them (like how they struggle against SRH & CSK).

Against GT they have 50-50 chance. Best bet for RCB would be (if they are in Top 2 of the table), hope GT/DC/Punjab to eliminate MI (catch them off-guard early), once MI wins 1st eliminator they can rampage their way and win next 2 games!
