IPL | Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians | Mohali | 25/04/08

Irfan Pathan comes on and his second ball is hit by Ronchi for 6666666666666666666

Why is Krapich being shown on TV??

... and a run out by Lee.

I haven't seen Brett Lee this pumped up before!!

Brett Lee does brilliant in follow through and runs out Ronchi
Mumbai 14-2

Did Lee get replaced after bowling 2 overs? Bad move if he did as he was bowling good and there were two new batsmen

commentator gets shown drinking from a can of soda. Is that once a match or once per innings

Bravo bowled by Chawla
61-3 after 8.4 overs

Wow AMAZING catch by Yuvraj, jumping one-handed grab over his head to send Pollock on his way. Catch of the tournament so far.

Geez Lee is bowling a very inspired spell here. He's conceded 9 runs in just under 4 overs and has bowled 4 dots in a row.

And he finishes with figures of 4-0-9-1 at an ER of 2.25.

Sreesanth comes back and the 4444444s from Mumbai begin again. :)))

And Sreesanth takes a wicket as the unknown tailender backs away from his stumps to cut him again. Sree gives the unknown tailender a parting spray as well lol.

Strange.

Sreesanth's crying on the field for some reason. He's bawling in fact. VRV and Karan Goel are consoling him. Now Sangakkara also goes up to him. I wonder what that is about.

I was saying this is one of the problems with naming your team after a country. It's like leverage - when it's positive it's really good but when it's negative it's really bad.

I'm afraid it does luck pretty bad for the Indians, I can see the Chargers turning it around with the quality in their squad, not so the Indians they look doomed. Only hope is the arrival of Tendu may change their fortunes.....

The names are just so stupid, lacking creativity, as if the teams were waiting for each other to come up with them;

Kings XI and Super Kings
Royals and Royal Challengers
and then ***!?!? Mumbai Indians = just plain idiotic

So the Indians could come last in the competition then? You have to admit, the Men In Blue looked pretty hapless today.

Certainly would be a good result for most PP'ers, what with the name and the exclusion of any Pak players in their squad......

Brett Lee not MOM?

Brett Lee's figures yesterday: 4-0-9-2

Also, batsmen were all at sea when facing him and that too on a batsman friendly pitch. I would be interested to know if this is not a T20 record already for the most economical spell. On a normalized scale, I would say this is as good as Mcullum's 158. If that was not a MOM winning performance in a high scoring game, then I wonder what a bowler has to do to qualify for one? From the new generation, who would like to become a bowler when such greate performances are not rewarded?

This is pathetic and demoralizing.

Forget about MOM - there is not one award for bowlers in the whole tournament. There is a whole gamut for batsmen - DLF super sixes , highest number of sixes, longest sixes, orange caps and what nots - but theres absolutely nothing for the bowlers in the name of motivation... If this format becomes really popular then I have no doubt that the future of Cricket is 11 batsmen and a bowling machine in the middle.

Hafeez had a spell of 4 over for 8 runs.

If that's so, that has to be the best T20 figures ever? And was it in Kolkata vs. DC game? Anyways, the point is that such figures are once in a bluemoon and IPL should realize that bowlers should be equally rewarded as batsmen, else....

if only the clowns who support the IPL (and there are plenty on this forum too) shared your good sense...

He took only one wicket not two. But i still agree with your point. T20 is really treating bowlers like a bowling machine. Though all the sixes and fours look fun the most important aspect of cricket which makes it so exciting is missing. The competition between the bat and ball.

The cushion of batting for only 20 overs is making the batsman throw the fear of losing their wicket out of the window. Now thats a massive advantage to a batsman in this already pro-batsman game. Inspite of this Lee came up with a splendid spell by bowling his heart out. I am sure they looked at only his wickets column and ignored the fact that it takes greater skill to have such an economy in this format of the game than to score a little over run a ball. Any bowling performance with an economy below 3 should be looked at when deciding the MoM award in this format of the game.

For me Lee was the man of the match.

It's funny how 3-23 would probably win you MOM but 1-9 (both off 4 overs) would probably not

when actually those dot balls are killing your chance of winning the match as much as those wickets.
