"It’s too soon to write me off as a bowler" : Mohammad Abbas

what would he have achieved? nz figured him out in the UAE, walk down the track and he's tootheless, theres no way 125kph dibbly dobblers would have any impact on this pitch.

yeh, maybe hed have conceded 20 less runs, but in the context of the game it wouldn't have made a differnece.

Probably more than what Mohammad Ali is likely to achieve in this match.

What would Abbass do on such a dead wicket with his 120-125 km/hr dibbly dobblers. He was ineffective on the England and NZ wickets which historically have always supported pacers.

Time for Abbas to make a return to the Pakistan Test XI

Abbas is absolutely essential at this point. He brings control and can do well on the slow pitches we will most likely prepare for NZ. With no Shaheen and Naseem and very little chances that Pakistan will prepare fast or seaming pitches the mandate of the pacers will be to bowl tight overs with the spinners doing the bulk of the work. Abbas can do this job well.

Mohammad Abbas in an interview:

“I played in our local domestic season while also performing in County Cricket which is why it is obvious that I’m disappointed over my non-selection"

“But I will continue to put in the hard yards because that’s the only thing I can do since selection is out of my hands"

“During 2022 season for Hampshire, I took 50 wickets in 12 matches. I also claimed two fifers during six matches of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy despite the fact that two to three matches were affected due to rain"

“I think our fast-bowlers should play domestic cricket to improve their fitness. They play Test matches directly after featuring in T20 cricket which leads to fitness issues. As long as pacers don’t play the longer formats, they will continue to face such issues"

President's Trophy: State Bank of Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas produced another masterclass with the ball on day two, claiming 6 for 27 in 22 overs to register his 54th first-class five-wicket haul and 850th wicket in the format, as he ripped through Ghani Glass’s batting after the visitors resumed at 31-4, setting up a 28-run first-innings lead that paved the way for SBP to surge 222 runs ahead by stumps.

hes still a good bowler, if rizzis willing to stand up to the stumps for him, he could do a better job than pacers going out of their way to get wickets. hopefully pak can find a taller quicker version of him in the near future. only bowler to take 100 FC wickets last year.

Abbas has been sidelined for other over-hyped bowlers.. He is still better than Shaheen trundler in Tests. Or Naseem or any other guy in the current setup.
