Afridi talking some sense here.

True. Its the Indian government that won't allow BCCI permission to play against us. I read a thread that said they have again asked for permission. Let's hope they are given permission this time.

KARACHI: Pakistan’s former captain Shahid Afridi, ICC and PCB officials along with the ICC Champions Trophy reached Edhi Home on Thursday as the trophy’s tour of Karachi of kicked off.

Faisal Edhi, son of the famous philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi, welcomed the star allrounder and the officials accompanying the prestigious ICC Champions Trophy at the Edhi Home.

Shahid Afridi was happy to meet children at Edhi Home and called it a great initiative.

“Abdul Sattar Edhi practically defined the true meaning of humanity,” said Afridi while talking to media. “It is a great initiative of PCB and ICC,” he added.

Talking about the ICC event, the veteran allrounder emphasized that teams cannot afford to make any mistakes in such global events and Pakistan need to perform well in all three aspects of the game for positive results.

Shahid Afridi also talked about the crunch game between Pakistan and India which is scheduled to be played on June 4 at Edgbaston.

“Pakistan versus India game is always crucial, it is always entertaining and the ongoing form does not matter as the pressure of that game is very different,” he told.

“The key for success in such games is how good you can handle the pressure, the team that will not panic will stand victorious at the end,” he continued.

“We could not win against India in big tournaments like World Cup because we panic very quickly,” he concluded.

The star allrounder announced that he may not be playing for Pakistan this time, but he will surely travel to England to witness the live action between the two arch-rivals.

Shahid Afridi also denied the claim of Pakistan’s current limited-over formats’ captain Sarfraz Ahmed that India is afraid of playing against Pakistan.

“I don’t think that India is afraid of us, they have a very good side, I think BCCI has very little problem in playing against Pakistan, it is their government that creates issues,” he told.

The trophy will travel to University of Karachi and National Stadium later in the day.

The global cricketing event will commence from 1 June with a contest between the hosts England against Bangladesh

Afridi finally talking some sense now that he is no longer part of the team.

As much as the PCB wants the extremely vast amounts of $$$$$ they will benefit from a series with India, in the current climate it is just not probable and rightly so.

Afridi talking sense..

Umar ka takaza hai, ya team se bahar honay ka jhatka..?

nonsense statement from Afridi

Sarfraz was right- India is afraid to play Pakistan, may not necessarily be out of a fear of losing the match, but perhaps just the fear of the political pressure that comes along with it

I agree, in South Asian countries Cricket and Politics go hand in hand and this is not the time at all. There is no point make the countries play against the popular sentiment in the public. Most likely in the ICC games the teams will face each other

Indian players want to play Pakistan and so do most of our fans. Its the government that is causing all sort of problem.

Afridi has no way to determine this.
He is just assuming that Indian team is not afraid.

So when Afridi makes comments against India and plays on emotional tunes he makes complete sense.
His views which aren't compatible with yours and isn't bashing India are nonsense ? Perfectly logical :yk

If you dont be that dumb, you'd realize that the whole Indian cricket establishment wants to avoid us so that they can reap out more wins on their home-grounds. They saw what happened when we toured on 2012. They can afford same again in their decorated drama series.

Ofc its the Indian government not allowing it to happen. They are allowing the HIndu extremists to dictate terms and are too afraid to stand up to them...so...India is still afraid.

Karachi: Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq and senior player Shahid Afridi on Thursday contradicted limited-overs skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed's claims that the Indian team was scared of playing against Pakistan and that was why the Indo-Pak bilateral series was not happening.

The two stalwarts said they don't believe that the Indian team was not prepared or was afraid of playing against Pakistan.

"I think the Indian team players also would like to play against us but it is politics which is not allowing a bilateral series. It is the Indian government which is not allowing it," he said.

Misbah said it was a pity that India and Pakistan were not playing bilateral series as he knew people from both countries wanted to see the two teams play against each other regularly.

"It is a great loss to cricket that we are not playing against each other like we should. We are achieving nothing by not playing against each other."

He noted that even the Champions Trophy 4 June clash in England between the two teams was already sold out.

Afridi also minced no words in stating that the Indian government would have to change its stance if bilateral cricket has to resume between Pakistan and India.

"If there is no bilateral cricket being played it is because of the Indian government. I don't think the Indian players do not want to play against us," said Arfidi who announced retirement from international cricket last month.

Afridi, who led Pakistan in the last World T20 in India last year, said he felt sad that people of both the countries were being deprived of a high-profile series.

"When we went there last year the Indian people were happy to see us play there," he said.

Misbah also felt that Pakistan had a very good chance of beating India in the Champions Trophy under the captaincy of Sarfaraz as he had been taking the right decisions and utilising the players well.

"He (Sarfaraz) has done a good job and I think our team is a blend of experience and youth. We are now best placed to win the June 4 encounter against India and also do well in the Champions Trophy," Misbah said.
