Joe Root's 218 helps England reach 555/8 at Stumps on Day 2 in the 1st Test against India

I'd say impressive performance by Indian bowling.. Despite batting two full days plus Stokes counter attack they yet to cross 600 mark.. Full credit to bowling dept..

Your predictions about ind vs aus were wrong and i am damn sure that aus will beat this england side in england.
Your reactions are based on a one off series rather rather than prolonged periods, look out for ashes 2021, you will be proved wrong yet again.

So you were predicting Indian win after 36 AO? If yes that was very stupid prediction lol because it would have purely been based on emotion.

Also you being ‘sure’ that Aus will beat this England side in England doesn’t mean it will happen haha.

I don’t think current Australian team would beat England in England. But then again, Smith lifts up his game against poms so who knows?

I think game will be a draw. In last tour, England out-scored India in first inning in first game and it resulted in a draw.

Hope wickets aren’t this docile in other games.

Yeah, this is actually very strange to see. I thought, England should've easily been 620+ by now, and ready to declare.
I think Archer was their trump card to score some quick runs by hitting a few big shots. But since he is out, it kinda seems moving towards a draw with two days gone and only 555 on the board.

Don't think they will play in this test series. Both have fractures and chances of comeback for any of the test is lower. Jadeja is officially ruled out anyways.

Umesh and Siraj are the other two options India have apart from Bumrah and Ishant and there is no clear update on Umesh's injury either. I expect three of them to play for pink ball, so probably Bumrah will be rested for 2nd test and Siraj will get a go.

Starting to think that England have an outside chance in this series. If they can ambush India in the pink ball test, and somehow hang on with attritional batting elsewhere.

Slow outfield is reducing the scoring rate. But well done India for bowling tight on a flattie, Ishant in particular.

You said that this england side will beat Aus at home which is a bold call.
Aus rarely loses at home, and england neither has the fast bowlers and nor the spinners to beat aus in aus.

Excellent point.

Though presumably Shami and Jadeja are back soon....

Both injured, , for me bumrah is the main go to man , if England can derail him then Half the job is done unless Indian curators start preparing wickets which are hughly conducive to spin, even then Joe Root is as Good as anyone I've seen in the last 20 years at playing spin and it's a shame bairstow is not playing who also is a quality player of spin.

More than a good chance of England succeeding down under, wood and Archer need to stay fit and stokes for Aggressive fast bowling, Anderson and Broad rotated for their guile, and either leach or Bess as the spinner.

As for the batting the top order now looks settled I really fancy England getting very competitive totals in Australia.

Conclusion, a close series which could go either way and definitely not one sided!

I would want spin tracks, were I BCCI.

Have a look out for Foakes who got a century against SL away with Herath bowling.

England desperately missed pace options last Australian Ashes. No Stokes either.

Add in Sibley and Crawley for Denly and Vince, plus a rejuvenated Root and the side looks more robust.

England are in a good position here. They need Bess and Leach to step up now.

don't think England have the bowling.. and has stuart broad retired?

This could very well be a draw the way it is going as I don't think England could be bowling out India twice in 3 days.

England should look to bowl India out under 400. There will be some more turn and reverse swing for the bowlers as the day progresses.

Indian batting is pretty strong based on potential. But Gill and Pant have hardly played any game at home. Rohit will be key here. He is Bradman at home, averages 88 in India.
