What's new

Jos Buttler (83*) takes England [158/2] to an 8-wicket win over India [156/6] in the 3rd T20I

Last two matches been quite boring to watch one sided affairs. The only highlight was Kohli fighting spectacle.

India utterly thrashed.

Shame there wasn't a capacity crowd of 162k people to see it!

Buttler dropped on 75, now78 (45). Overtakes Kohli score 76(46).

Bumrah chose such a great time to great married. Why couldn't he get married during IPL? Answer is so obvious.

Who is India’s fielding coach?

They are one of the worst in the world

Chahal has always been an awful fielder and he is still the same.

and decent lower order hitter

so overall package is okay

He won’t ever make it into anything substantial for India

They will go with Bumrah, Bhuvaneshwar and Natarajan for the T20i World Cup

So many pedestrians in today's Indian XI. Rahul, Chahal, Thakur, Pandya, Shreyas.

Not sure how Natarajan is any better

Thakur has done well before this game in his career

Batting can be needed too

Someone like Rahul despite not playing a single international game since LoI leg of Australian tour till this series hasn't played a single FC game! So much so for these guys taking their cricket seriously and it is showing in the results he is getting.

Kohli innings is impressive considering batting was tough in the 1st half. Considering, Kohli's luck with the tosses, we need to learn to counter the dew conditions, if we are to win the wt20. That's what costed us in 2016.

Villains of this match are both Pant and Pandya. Indian team management have showed a lot of confidence in them but these two needs to take responsibility now. I won't put all the blame on young shoulders of Pant because he was run out but still he was playing there at a strike rate of 125 which is quite unacceptable from him. And Pandya ji's 17 from 15 was equally bad and the difference between India getting 156 and 180 here. :inti

Natarajan is a very reliable death bowler. His Yorkers are very good. Thakur is alright but as a captain, I would go with the specialist Yorker executor rather than a slower delivery specialist.

You must be high on something.. what are you smoking? you are terming Pant as the villain in this? LOLOL...

Agreed. That was my pick too before the start of the series. I will have Shardul too in my scheme of things though because he is more useful with bat than Sundar at the position where both comes.

India will take 4th one and we will have a good old exciting decider in the 5th game!

And the SMAT was going on all the while too.

Talk about complacency!

Bumrah is that specialist yorker executor.Bhuvi can also do it.Thats enough

Thakur also bowls cutters which can be helpful on Indian pitches

Butler is just something else man. What a player!

Surely the MVP for the T20 WC.

When you have leagues of batsman available to you like India does, you shouldn’t be picking your fast bowlers on the basis of how good they are with the bat also

Rahul?

From the little I have seen of the series so far, India's fielding has been immense.

If Buttler continues his fine form, he will have a good chance of winning England the T20 WC.

True. Well said. Thakur is as mediocre as they come. Just having a good Gabba test doesn't make him a good LoI cricketer.

Can't believe Kohli dropped SKY without him facing a single ball in the last game. And demoted Kishan to 3 just after he scored a 50 as an opener. Just shows how clueless he is when it comes to player management and selection. Great player, awful awful captain....

I hope he plays this XI in the 4th. If we bat first , we're losing anyway as there's just not enough fire power in our batting to get a "match winning" total against this English lineup...

Kishan
Rohit
SKY
Kohli
Pandya
Pant
Sundar
Axar
R Chahar
Bhuvi
Shardul

It always helps. You never know when its needed

Already got specialist bowlers in Bumrah and Chahal

Look at England. They bat till 10

Next Match should be.

Rahul Out - SKY In
Chahal Out - Axar/ Rahul Chahar In
Thankur Out - Deepak Chahar /Saini In

Virat Kohli - "KL Rahul is a champion player, he will continue as our main player along with Rohit in the top order".

Imagine final of WT20 here in this stadium. I am pretty sure all eyes will be on the toss on that day. :inti

I think this is going to be the problem with having the tournament in India in October. Isn't it monsoon season at that point? I don't think anyone likes the toss having a major bearing on who wins a match.

Jos Buttler’s unbeaten innings of 83 guides England to an eight-wicket win in the third T20I and a 2-1 seires lead, on Tuesday, 16 March.

Earlier, England won the toss and asked India asked to bat first. The hosts got off to a shaky start as they lost KL Rahul to Mark Woods’ searing delivery that knocked the stumps off the ground.

Rohit Sharma, who was brought back in the playing XI in place of Suryakumar Yadav, also fell early as he managed only 15 off 17 balls off Wood.

India have tested three different opening compositions in the three T20Is. The experimentation on top is yet to yield results as the highest partnership has been of just 7 runs in the series.

After a dream debut for Ishan Kishan in the second match, he lost his wicket to Chris Jordan trying to pull but top-edged it to the 'keeper for 4, leaving India stuttering at 24/3 in just 5.3 overs.

Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant (25) joined hands to steady the innings but Pant was run out trying to steal a third run off an overthrow falling short of the crease by a long margin.

Virat Kohli played a sensational 77* off 46 balls, registering his highest score against England in T20Is. After Pant's dismissal, Hardik Pandya (17) joined his captain in the middle in a 70-run-partnership to steer India’s total to 156/6 in their quota of 20 overs. Mark Wood was the pick of the bowlers who finished with the figures of 3/31.

England commenced their chase with caution against Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s swinging deliveries. Following Jason Roy’s wicket in the fourth over, Jos Buttler began his onslaught against India – hitting Chahal for two sixes in the same over.

Buttler and Dawid Malan (18) stitched together a second-wicket partnership of 58 runs. Buttler scored a Player-of-the-Match-winning 83 not out from 52 balls and batted with a strike rate of 159.6.

It was the third-wicket partnership of 77* runs between Buttler and Jonny Bairstow that saw England through to a comprehensive eight-wicket victory. Bairstow found his rhythm and scored a 28-ball 40*.

This match was also Eoin Morgan’s 100th T20I match. He became only the fourth player after Shoaib Malik, Rohit Sharma and Ross Taylor to achieve the feat in men's T20Is.

England now lead the series 2-1. In this pendulum of a series, India now cannot afford to lose the next match as it would effectively result in a series loss.
