PM's Tamil push in 'veshti' to Katchatheevu: BJP's carpet-bomb campaign
PM Modi has already visited Tamil Nadu six times, launched a handle to promote his speeches in Tamil, and harped on his love for Tamil language. With just days left for Lok Sabha polls, Tamil Nadu has emerged as a key battleground for the BJP.
"I believe that, much like idli and dosa, the Tamil language should reach worldwide," Narendra Modi said in an interview with Thanthi TV, the first time a sitting Prime Minister appeared on a Tamil channel. The traditional 'veshti' look was unmissable as PM Modi attempted to connect with the voters of Tamil Nadu.
With just days to go before the Lok Sabha polls, Tamil Nadu has emerged as a focal point for the BJP as it looks to achieve PM Modi's '400 paar' call. His personal interest in the key southern state is proof that the BJP - traditionally viewed as a "north India" party - is determined to gain a foothold in the Dravidian state where the party drew a blank in 2019.
