Replayed that ball 100 times. Feels so GREAT to see Yasir storming off with the whole team chasing after him! :14::14::14:

You need to have a lot of luck as a batsman and as a bowler to out do each other in that situation.

If Gabriel made decent enough contact with the bat, it would have been a draw. With fielders that close in, they are not going to catch it. He took a gamble and failed miserably.

He could have even left the ball alone. Could've/Should've are all history.

The pressure of the situation gets to players especially for tailenders who have done crazy things before and will continue to do in the future too.

It might have been his last ever delivery as skipper, but nice to see Misbah finally set an attacking field for Yasir with more fielders on the off-side!

I guess he was expecting it to come in and with the field up he felt hitting it hard over the top is a good option.

Pressure makes you do such things at times. For the bowler such moments are gold.

You won the test, series and send 2 legends out with a win.

Yasir is a champ!

I think it was exactly which caused the seemingly inexplicable shot by Gabriel.

With so many close in fielders and the amount of turn yasir was getting, it would not have been easy to play a defensive shot as there is far more chance of it ballooning into the hand of one of the ten close in fielders. If instead he hits it hard, there are literally no fielders to catch it in the outfield, plus the close in fielders would be more concerned with self preservation even if he mishits it.

For those reasons, his mind was already made up before the ball was delivered.

Being a tailender, he then was unable to spot the wider delivery and leave it alone as he should have.

The situation warranted the field.

You play by situation and conditions.

You dont just decide to go all guns blazing just because you feel like it.

This whole test showed how you captain a side. If the situation requires you to be defesnive(first innings batting) you do that, nothing wrong in that. And when aggressivness is needed you do that aswell.

All the time i have seen you applying that anperson should be 24/7 aggressive irrespect to the situation or conditions

Not aggressive ? Who ?

Rspect for Azhar.

Azhar started celebrating when Pakistan reviewed Gabriel early on in his innings. He was pretty confident it was out, and my have been left rather embarrased had Yasir not taken the wicket at the end. Relief more than anything.

Yep, the video is readily available where YK is showing Yasir (while YK is in slips and he is gesturing to Yasir)

Here at 2:55 you can how YK is gesturing to Yasir where and how to land the ball!
