Nunez should be at Anfield in a few days. With Origi having left I expect to see some further departures with Taki, Ox and Mane heading for the exit door. I still want a midfielder like Jude Bellingham and possibly another forward too but not the injury prone Ousmane Dembele who has been heavily linked with us. I trust JK...he knows what he is doing.

Big coup for LFC securing Nunez, particularly because Man Utd tried to hijack the deal at the last minute and drew a comprehensive blank — a mini incident which demonstrates where the two clubs are at the moment.

We need two midfielders. Hendo is ageing, Ox will be sold where as Thiago and Keita are injury prone. Not sure if Curtis Jones and Elliot are the real deal. Hopefully Nunez is the start not the end off the shopping spree. I am intrigued to see how Nunez compares with Haaland once the season starts. Also very excited with the signing off Fabio Carvalho who at that price could be a steal.

Would be delighted if we could get Raphinha from Leeds and Jude Bellingham. I am not being greedy:bumrah

Not been confirmed at all. As far as I know Man Utd are still trying to get him. I will believe it once our gaffer speaks!:klopp

Let's just hope this Darwin nunez doesn't end up like the flop forlan was at united and the flop Andy Carroll turned out to be at Liverpool.

Only nunez money is eye watering for a young player 85m is a lot of money to sign someone just starting out and having 1 good season with benfica.

I can’t see Raphinha playing for another Premier League side. IMO it’s either going to be a club abroad or staying at Leeds.

Those signings are in the past.

Klopp has a good eye for a player.
His scouts are excellent as well.

Going by Klopp's record i trust him to get it right. He mostly gets it right as can be seen with the likes of VVD, Mane, Diaz, Robertson, Fabinho and Salah. There is never any guarantee when a new players comes but with Mane leaving we need to make a big singing and statement with Man City having bought in Haaland.

Nunez signing will be offset with the departure of Mane and others.

Liverpool close to signing Darwin Nunez from Benfica

Liverpool are close to signing Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez from Portuguese club Benfica.

The deal is expected to be worth an initial £64m with about £21m in add-ons.

Nunez, 22, scored 34 times in 41 appearances across all competitions for Benfica last season.

He also scored twice against Liverpool as Benfica were beaten 6-4 across two legs by the Reds in the Champions League quarter-finals.

After their second meeting, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp predicted Nunez had "a big career ahead of him", describing him as "physically strong, quick, [and] calm around his finish".

A medical has yet to take place but it is believed Liverpool sporting director Julian Ward was in Portugal over the weekend to hold talks.

Premier League rivals Manchester United were reportedly also interested in signing Nunez, who cost Benfica 24m euros (£20.5m) when he signed from Spanish side Almeria in 2020.

Liverpool's record transfer is the £75m paid for centre-back Virgil van Dijk following his transfer from Southampton in 2018 - and the deal for Nunez could surpass that depending on the amount of the add-ons.

The forward scored six times in 10 Champions League games for Benfica last term, while he managed 26 goals and four assists in 28 league matches.

Nunez's expected arrival could see him replace Sadio Mane, who is in the final year of his contract with Liverpool and is attracting the interest of Bayern Munich.

The Reds have rejected a deal worth £30m from the German champions for the 30-year-old Senegal forward.

The club's 27-year-old Japan international Takumi Minamino is also attracting the interest of a number of clubs.

Liverpool have reached a deal with Benfica to sign Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez, the Portuguese club have confirmed.

Benfica say a fee of 75m euros (£64m), rising to a potential 100m euros (£85m) with add-ons, has been agreed.

Nunez, 22, scored 34 times in 41 appearances across all competitions for Benfica last season.

Liverpool's record transfer is the £75m paid to sign centre-back Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in 2018.

Premier League rivals Manchester United were reportedly also interested in signing Nunez, who cost Benfica 24m euros (£20.5m) when he signed from Spanish side Almeria in 2020.

The striker, who has 11 caps for Uruguay, scored 26 goals in 28 league games in 2021-22 - with 25 of those goals coming in the 24 league matches in which he started.

He also scored six times in 10 Champions League games last season, including against Liverpool in both legs of their quarter-final in April.

Liverpool won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup last season - along with finishing as Premier League runners-up and losing in the Champions League final.

Portuguese 19-year-old Fabio Carvalho became Liverpool's first signing of the summer transfer window in May, with the forward set to officially join from Fulham on 1 July.

The Reds have rejected a deal worth £30m from Bayern Munich for Senegal forward Sadio Mane who, like the club's Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, is set to become a free agent next summer if an agreement over a new contract cannot be reached.

Brazil forward Roberto Firmino, another key part of Liverpool's attack during Klopp's tenure, has also entered the final 12 months of his current deal, while Japan international Takumi Minamino is attracting interest from a number of clubs.

Liverpool’s determination to hold out for their Sadio Mane transfer price appears to have paid off with a third Bayern Munich offer reportedly set to be accepted.

The Senegal forward has been a massive part of Liverpool’s success over the Jurgen Klopp era. Arriving in a £34m deal in summer 2016, he has scored 120 goals in 269 appearances over his six seasons at Anfield. Not only that, Mane is also a tireless worker and won everything there is to be won while on Merseyside.

However, a parting of ways now looks inevitable this summer with the player keen to experience one final career challenge. Indeed, a strongly-worded interview at the start of the month first laid the groundwork over his potential exit.

And with Bayern Munich also making clear their desire to land the player, an Anfield goodbye for Mane appears certain.

With just a year left on his deal, Liverpool are not standing in his way over his sale. Indeed, the Reds are quickly moving on themselves with a club-record deal for Darwin Nunez all-but officially announced.

Although his contract expires in a year, Liverpool are seeking around £40m for the 30-year-old.

Since then, Bayern have made two bids for the player. Their opening gambit did not exactly go down well, with it falling well short of Liverpool’s asking price.

Days later, a second bid arrived, though the Reds once again rejected it amid claims they found the offer comical.

Now it seems Liverpool’s no-nonsense approach over his asking price is about to bear fruit.

Having secured Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is now putting all his focus on Mane.

As per Bild, the Bavarians are not readying a third approach for Mane. This will include a downpayment of £30.2m (€35m), with a further £5.1m (€6m) in add-ons. That will take Bayern’s investment to £35.3m – earning Liverpool a small profit on their initial investment all those years ago.

The offer has been approved by Bayern’s money men with the club then turning their focus to the signing of Konrad Laimer.

Following that, Bayern then expect to finalise a number of potential sales, with Marc Roca to Leeds among them.

Bild now expects the offer for Mane to ‘quickly’ win approval among Liverpool’s board. Their owners FSG were always adamant about Mane’s valuation and it seems their determination has pay off.

Mane has already reportedly agreed terms on a three-year deal with Bayern. Now a quick resolution to the saga is likely.

The Sadio Mane transfer to Bayern will see him depart Liverpool FC as a hero.

He will now move to the Allianz Arena and a Bayern Munich side likely to lose talismanic striker Robert Lewandowski. As such, Mane could revert to the central attacking role he fulfiled with such aplomb for Liverpool over the closing weeks of the season.

Liverpool have completed the signing of Uruguay striker Darwin Nunez from Portuguese side Benfica on a six-year-deal for an initial £64m.

The 22-year-old could become the club's record signing, with the fee rising to a potential £85m with add-ons.

Nunez scored 34 times in 41 appearances for Benfica last season.

Liverpool's current record transfer is the £75m paid to sign centre-back Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in 2018.

It is likely the fee for Nunez should hit the £85m mark if he plays regularly. The add-ons range from how many goals he scores to whether the Reds win the Champions League.

The signing is subject to international clearance and work permit approval.

Liverpool won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup last season, but were runners-up in the Premier League and lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid.
