A British man became so fed up with his wife’s nagging that one day he just 'upped and left' to hide in the woods for 10 years.

Malcolm Applegate, a 62-year-old gardener, had been married to his wife for three years before her relentless pestering became “too much”, he told the Daily Mail.

“For three years it was alright, we got on with one another and the gardening got too much for her,” said Applegate.

"The more work I took on, the angrier my wife got — she didn't like me being out of the house for long periods of time.

"The controlling behaviour started to get out of hand and she demanded that I cut my hours."

Applegate said it was at this point he decided to pack up and leave for good, without a word to anyone, including his family.

"I went missing from them for ten years," he added.

It took Applegate three weeks to walk from Oxford to London before he camped out in “thick woodland” near Kingston, south west London, where he worked on gardens at a nearby community centre for the elderly.

He said three others were also camping in the same area and they would sometimes see each other at the community centre, where they went for a shower.

"No one knew we were there. It's not well known — nobody would go in there.”

Over his decade sleeping rough, Applegate also lost touch with his sister who went looking for him but feared he was dead.

However, he said the pair now had “a great relationship” after he wrote her a letter when he was settled into a new home.

He now lives at a homeless shelter in Greenwich, south London, where he does “odd jobs” and raises money for charities in the area.

"I have a lovely room, I am able to work and I can still lead an active social life — I love it here my life is officially back on track."

Moral: Don't irritate your wife to make her nag you all the time.

I mean look at his face , that smile says it all. That refreshed look , the positivity he exudes , the know-it-all twinkle in his eyes. Some experience he must have had by being away from the womenfolk or to quote Alex from a clockwork orange "Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures!

No I meant, I'd rather be water boarded than nagged. :)

That's why "<" should have been used instead of ">"

Water boarding > Nagging woman (means Water boarding is greater than Nagging woman)

Water boarding < Nagging woman =>> You'd rather be water boarded than nagged
