Manchester City win the Premier League 2023/24 season - 1st ever team to win 4 PL titles in a row

Likely to be the start of Spurs decline after this match.

However it has to be said, Spurs are playing much better without Harry Kane, their build up is very quick compared to last few seasons.

Jackson has the flimsiest hat trick in history. 1-4. Welcome back, Poch.

And he's just blazed a fourth over the bat. That guy

Jackson would be incredible at 5 a side.!

Nice to see Spurs being humiliated at home with such a scoreline.

Chelsea beat nine-man Tottenham in a frantic, chaotic Premier League match full of drama and controversy.

Nicolas Jackson scored a late second-half hat-trick after Spurs had Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie sent off either side of half-time.

Dejan Kulusevski had put the home side ahead in the fifth minute with a strike which deflected in off Levi Colwill.

Cole Palmer equalised from the penalty spot immediately after Romero's red card for fouling Enzo Fernandez.

A total of five potential goals were ruled out for either offside or handball, with a plethora of decisions being reviewed by the video assistant referee.

Second-placed Tottenham would have gone top with a win but instead suffered their first league loss of the season.

Still can't get over how poor Chelsea were....
Thankfully they managed to win this and damage spur's goal difference...

Didn't catch the game but watched the highlights, seemed like a fun and crazy game. Was laughing my head off at Spurs' suicidal high lines :ROFLMAO:

Spurs should be down to 9 men.

Incompetence and corruption at its finest.

@Geordie Ahmed anothet game and more horrendous refereeing.

This is exactly why clubs should call out PGMOL
Difference being Chelsea would have legitimate claim to raise something as that was 2 poor decisions against them

As it happens Spurs didn't take advantage of that leeway they benefited from

Arteta calling out the officials for a legitimate goal is still stupid, especially as he couldn't even articulate what his issue with the goal was.

Good weekend for man city in end with all rivals dropping points

Spurs lose at Wolves in the 97th minute!

GOAL - Wolves 2-1 Tottenham

Mario Lemina

THEY'VE WON IT!

Wolves have spent 80-odd minutes spurning chances, but it is the two they've taken late in the game that are the story!

Pablo Sarabia is involved again, sending a neat pass into the box for Mario Lemina to steer into the far side of the net.

Tottenham were top of the Premier League 10 minutes ago. They're not now.

Two goals in stoppage time sealed a dramatic victory for Wolves over Tottenham in the Premier League.

Mario Lemina scored in the seventh minute of additional time at Molineux, sliding the ball into the far side of the net after an expertly timed pass by Pablo Sarabia.

Sarabia had levelled six minutes earlier with a sublime finish, volleying home after flicking the ball to himself in the air.

Spurs' 10-game unbeaten start to the season was cut short by their chaotic 4-1 defeat by Chelsea on Monday, but they issued an immediate response on Saturday as Brennan Johnson tapped home after latching on to a Pedro Porro pass.

Tottenham's impression was momentary, however, and Wolves quickly grew into the game with energetic pressing in the final third, albeit lacking any real cutting edge in front of goal.

Wolves failed to convert numerous chances, with Hwang Hee-chan and Sasa Kaladjzic missing the target from close range, but remained persistent in their attacking intent.

Tottenham failed to come away unscathed after Wolves' late heroics as they succumbed to back-to-back defeats, missing out on a chance to go to the top of the table.

Arsenal moved level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City courtesy of a hard-fought victory over beleaguered Burnley.

The Gunners had struggled to break down a disciplined Clarets side for much of the first half but broke the visitors' resistance on the stroke of half-time when Leandro Trossard bravely nodded in at the far post for Arsenal's 1,000th goal at Emirates Stadium.

Burnley equalised eight minutes into the second half when Josh Brownhill's low shot was deflected into the net by Gabriel, but the visitors were level for only three minutes before William Saliba headed in Trossard's corner from point-blank range.

Oleksandr Zinchenko completed the scoring with an acrobatic finish into the top corner after Dara O'Shea had inadvertently steered another Trossard corner onto the crossbar.

Arsenal finished the game with 10 men after second-half substitute Fabio Vieira was shown a straight red card for a studs-up challenge on Brownhill, but the Gunners held on comfortably.

Burnley stay in the relegation zone while Arsenal trail league leaders City on goal difference - although Pep Guardiola's team can restore their three-point lead with victory at Chelsea on Sunday.

Victor Lindelof scored from close range as Manchester United secured a narrow Premier League win against Luton Town.

Luton failed to deal with a Marcus Rashford cross, leaving Lindelof to thump home into the roof of the net.

Rasmus Hojlund, still searching for his first Premier League goal, was denied from close range as goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski made a great save to deny the Danish striker.

Luton's best chance came when Carlton Morris got on the end of an Issa Kabore cross but his fierce header was kept out by a flying save from Andre Onana.

A late goal from substitute Idrissa Gueye helped Everton beat Crystal Palace in a thrilling Premier League game at Selhurst Park.

The away side took the lead in the first minute. A long ball was played forward and not properly cleared and Jack Harrison chipped an inviting cross into the box and Vitaliy Mykolenko headed in from close range.

Palace were level just four minutes later when Ebere Eze went on a surging run into the Everton box before being brought down by Jarrad Branthwaite. The England midfielder picked himself up and slotted the penalty confidently past Jordan Pickford.

Everton retook the lead in the 49th minute. Mykolenko hit a volley from the edge of the penalty area that struck Sam Johnstone's post and Abdoulaye Doucoure was on hand to tap into an empty net from close range.

Palace thought they had done enough to draw the match when Odsonne Edouard took advantage of a mix-up between James Tarkowski and Pickford, but that was before substitute Gueye scored late on to take all three points.

The result means Everton are now unbeaten in four games in all competitions and eight points clear of the relegation zone.

Aston Villa maintained their winning start to the season at home with a routine Premier League victory over a lacklustre Fulham side.

Antonee Robinson's own goal and John McGinn's placed finish into the bottom right corner put Unai Emery's side firmly in control at the break.

And Ollie Watkins' tapped in substitute Leon Bailey's cross, with McGinn again involved, just after the hour mark as Villa claimed a 13th consecutive win at home in the top flight for the first time since 1983.

The result also means Villa have opened a season in England's top division with six successive home wins for the first time since 1932-33.

Raul Jimenez hit the post before rolling in from Robinson's pass to give Fulham a consolation goal in a much improved second-half display.

However, the visitors rarely looked capable of clawing their way back into the contest despite a noticeable drop in intensity from the hosts after the interval.

Villa remain fifth with the Cottagers in 16th, six points clear of the bottom three.

Sheffield United moved off the foot of the Premier League table by coming from behind to claim a point at 10-man Brighton.

The Seagulls led for much of the game through Simon Adringa's wonderful early opener but were left to rue a failure to convert their dominance into further goals.

The match turned on Brighton midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud's senseless 69th-minute red card for a raking challenge down the back of Ben Osborn's leg.

Brighton defender Adam Webster turned Jayden Bogle's cross into his own net to bring the Blades level only five minutes later.

And Bogle wasted a great chance to earn Paul Heckingbottom's visitors back-to-back victories by firing wide with only Brighton keeper Jason Steele to beat.

Roberto de Zerbi's side remain eighth as the Blades move above Burnley, and off bottom spot for the first time since their 8-0 thumping by Newcastle on 24 September, but are still four points from safety.

Mohamed Salah scored twice as Liverpool maintained their 100% record at Anfield this season with victory against Brentford to move up to second in the Premier League.

Salah opened the scoring just before the break, latching onto a pass from Darwin Nunez before placing a finish beyond Mark Flekken.

That was Salah's ninth Premier League goal of the season and his 10th arrived midway through the second half when he nodded in from Kostas Tsimikas' cross.

Salah - once again excellent on home soil - really should have had a hat-trick, having also volleyed over from a superb Trent Alexander-Arnold cross just before half-time.

Diogo Jota then rounded off another dominant home display with a thumping strike.

Brentford's best chance had come in the first half, when Bryan Mbeumo raced through on goal but his chipped effort was tame and cleared off the line by Alexander-Arnold.

The victory means Liverpool have 27 points and move ahead of Arsenal on goal difference, while Brentford are 10th.

Tomas Soucek grabbed a late winner as West Ham came from behind to secure an entertaining Premier League win against Nottingham Forest.

Soucek headed home from a James Ward-Prowse corner to give the Hammers a much-needed win after three defeats.

Jarrod Bowen struck a second-half equaliser for the hosts before Soucek's late winner at London Stadium.

Bowen also scored from a Ward-Prowse corner, rising highest to head home as the Hammers came back into the match soon after falling behind.

The home side went ahead early in the first half through Lucas Paqueta's driven finish.

The Brazil midfielder scored after just three minutes when Forest defender Nicolas Dominguez gave the ball away and it bounced perfectly for Paqueta to power into the bottom corner.

Taiwo Awoniyi equalised just before the break, following up from close range after Morgan Gibbs-White's initial shot was parried into his path by goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

Forest were in front for the first time in the contest when Ola Aina's cutback into the box was pounced on by Anthony Elanga, who fired into the bottom corner, but Bowen equalised for the Hammers almost immediately before Soucek took the points.

The result sees West Ham climb up to ninth in the table, while Forest remain in 15th.

Cole Palmer's stoppage-time penalty denied former club Manchester City victory in a thriller against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

In a game of the highest quality in treacherous conditions, fortunes swung both ways.

City thought they had the three points when Rodri's shot from the edge of the area touched off Thiago Silva past Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez with four minutes left.

Chelsea, showing superb resilience, were not to be denied and Palmer - a £40m summer signing from Pep Guardiola's side - stayed cool amid the mayhem to beat Ederson from the spot to leave City just a point clear of Liverpool at the Premier League summit.

The reigning champions led in contentious fashion after 25 minutes when they were awarded a penalty for Marc Cucurella's pull on Erling Haaland, despite Chelsea's protests that the full-back had been fouled first.

Haaland dispatched the penalty with ease, but the hosts were level four minutes later when Brazil centre-back Silva glanced home Conor Gallagher's corner at the near post.

Chelsea turned the game around when Raheem Sterling also scored against his former club after 37 minutes, turning in Reece James' cross after Josko Gvardiol's mistake.

City, though, levelled on the stroke of half-time when the unmarked Manuel Akanji headed in Bernardo Silva's cross.

Two minutes after the break City went in front again when Haaland scrambled in Julian Alvarez's cross at the far post.

Yet Chelsea again battled back and deservedly drew level in the 67th minute when Nicolas Jackson pounced after Ederson pushed out Gallagher's low drive.

Guardiola's side thought they had won it with Rodri's stroke of good fortune - until the late penalty drama capped an entertaining, eventful encounter.

Defender Ruben Dias was penalised for a foul on Chelsea substitute Armando Broja and Palmer's calm finish left honours even.

Man City 1-1 Liverpool
All over. It's a draw between the Premier League's top two.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's late equaliser gave Liverpool a point at Manchester City in the meeting of the Premier League's top two at Etihad Stadium.

In a game that did not touch the heights of previous encounters between the main domestic powers of recent times, reigning champions City led when Erling Haaland was the beneficiary of Liverpool keeper Alisson's poor clearance.

Ruben Dias thought he had added City's second, only to see his goal ruled out for a foul on Alisson, before Alexander-Arnold made Pep Guardiola's side pay for a failure to kill Liverpool off.

Alexander-Arnold had a tough game defensively trying to contain the lively Jeremy Doku, but demonstrated his quality 10 minutes from time with a crisp, low strike from the edge of the area that gave Ederson no chance.

City remain top of the table but might regard this as an opportunity missed, while Liverpool will be satisfied with a draw.

Tomas Soucek scored a stoppage-time winner as West Ham completed a dramatic late turnaround to beat Premier League strugglers Burnley.

Jay Rodriguez's penalty had given the Clarets the scent of a rare win but the match was turned on its head in a five-minute spell late on.

Dara O'Shea's 86th-minute own goal put David Moyes' West Ham on level terms before Soucek volleyed home in the first minute of added time to clinch the win.

Jacob Brown scored a dramatic late winner as Luton Town beat Crystal Palace to earn their first victory at home in the Premier League the season.

It took until the second half for the game to spark into life, with one of the few moments of note in the first period when Odsonne Edouard's goal was ruled out because the ball ricocheted off Luton defender Tom Lockyer and onto the Palace striker's hand.

That escape energised Luton and Teden Mengi poked home a loose ball in the box after a flick-on from a corner to break the deadlock.

But a fine piece of individual skill from Michael Olise saw the Palace winger chop inside and curl past Thomas Kaminski from a tight angle to level within two minutes.

However Scotland striker Brown put the Hatters back again when he turned home a pinpoint Chiedozie Ogbene pass from close range in the 81st minute.

Luton are now four points clear of the relegation zone while Crystal Palace sit in 15th place.

Second-half goals from Jamaal Lascelles, Joelinton and Anthony Gordon proved the difference as Newcastle emphatically returned to winning ways in the Premier League against Chelsea at St James' Park.

Lascelles' free header from Gordon's cross gave the Magpies a 2-1 lead on the hour mark, before Joelinton capitalised on a Thiago Silva error to double the hosts' advantage just 90 seconds later.

Fit-again Alexander Isak had opened the scoring in an entertaining first half, sending a composed finish beyond Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez from 17-year-old Lewis Miley's threaded pass.

Raheem Sterling's delightful free-kick restored parity 10 minutes later, but Chelsea were architects of their own downfall in the second half as Lascelles and Joelinton put the game out of reach for the Blues.

They were reduced to 10 men when Reece James was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Gordon, before the former Everton man finished low to Sanchez's left to complete the scoring late on.

The win moves Newcastle to within three points of fourth-placed Tottenham, while Chelsea's fifth league defeat of the season leaves them just inside the top half.

Substitute Joao Pedro scored twice as 10-man Brighton condemned Nottingham Forest to a first home defeat of the season in a fiery five-goal thriller at the City Ground.

Anthony Elanga had put Forest in front early on, but Evan Ferguson levelled before Pedro's double.

He was called upon in the first half to replace the injured Ansu Fati and scored deep into injury-time with a header, and then after the break from the penalty spot to put the Seagulls 3-1 ahead.

Forest pulled one back with Morgan Gibbs-White scoring a penalty after a VAR review, while Lewis Dunk was shown two yellow cards in quick succession and sent off for protesting too vigorously.

Justin Kluivert became only the third player to score in Europe's top five leagues as Bournemouth moved seven points clear of the relegation places with a dominant 3-1 win at Sheffield United.

Kluivert has previously scored in La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, and pounced on an error from Blades goalkeeper Wes Foderingham for the visitors' second goal, his first in the Premier League.

Earlier, Marcus Tavernier had given Andoni Iraola's side an early lead after good work from Antoine Semenyo cutting in from the right, before Kluivert dispossessed Foderingham on the edge of the box to double the lead in first-half stoppage time.

The Blades offered little in an insipid display, and the result was put almost beyond doubt when Tavernier converted Adam Smith's cross at the back post for his second of the afternoon, six minutes into the second half.

Oli McBurnie headed in a consolation in the seventh minute of added time, but the goal was greeted only by ironic cheers from the home supporters.

While United had to wait until the 88th minute for their first shot on target, Bournemouth had chances aplenty and will feel their margin of victory should have been even greater.

Tavernier blazed over late in the first half when left completely unmarked, while Dominic Solanke twice fired into the side netting, with a fierce volley after teeing himself up before the break and then with a close-range shot after Semenyo's initial effort was parried into his path by Foderingham.

Victory was Bournemouth's first at Bramall Lane since 1987 and while the travelling fans celebrated, the home supporters let their frustrations be known - with boos following the announcement that there would be seven minutes of additional time, and more jeers at the final whistle.

Substitute Kai Havertz's late header took Arsenal to the top of the Premier League with a dramatic late win at Brentford.

In Mikel Arteta's 200th game in charge of the Gunners, Havertz's 88th-minute goal rescued a largely forgettable display in west London.

After Manchester City and Liverpool drew earlier on Saturday, this win moves the Gunners one point clear at the summit.

Arsenal's Leandro Trossard had a goal ruled out in the first half by the video assistant referee but defeat was harsh on Brentford who were only denied goals of their own by exceptional clearances off the line from Declan Rice and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Ultimately you got the point, which was huge but they were the better side

What Liverpool is very good at is being resilient, despite trailing and conceding chances and plenty of attacks you never felt they were out of the game and that mentality is invaluable

Going to be a close title race this year

Arsenal favorites for the title at the moment. If they get over the line this team the Declan Rice signing will be rightfully remembered as the pivotal moment.

Still think City are favourites but I think it will go down to the wire

I think come April we will still have 3 teams that can realistically win it (City favourites, very closely followed by Liverpool and Arsenal)

As for Rice, Rodri is the best defensive midfielder in the world but Rice is brilliant, a very good signing

Tottenham 1-1 Aston Villa

You will struggle to see a more entertaining 45 minutes. A goal apiece at the break. Tottenham, who had earlier hit the post through Dejan Kulusevski, scored through Giovani lo Celso's first goal of the season.

Ollie Watkins thought he had scored an instant equaliser, but VAR said no.

But Villa did make it 1-1 in the seventh added minute with Pau Torres heading in from Douglas Luiz's free-kick.

This could end up anything. One-one and hugely enjoyable.

Aston Villa came from behind to beat Tottenham Hotspur on the day they remembered former player and manager Terry Venables.

The ex-England manager's death was announced less than two hours before kick-off, and a minute's applause was held to pay tribute to a man who won the FA Cup with Spurs as a player in 1967 and as manager in 1991.

Giovani lo Celso's deflected opener looked to have got the early season pacesetters back on track after their unbeaten start came to an end with back-to-back defeats before the international break.

But Pau Torres levelled with a header deep into first-half added time before Ollie Watkins slotted in his 12th goal of the season to seal Villa's turnaround.

Spurs pushed for an equaliser but could not avoid a third straight defeat - and they have taken the lead in each one of those games.

Tottenham were top of the Premier League table after their first 10 games but are now below Villa after victory in north London sent Unai Emery's team above them into fourth place.

Everton 0-3 Man Utd

It's all over.

Alejandro Garnacho's overhead screamer put United on their way to victory.

Everton missed a host of chances and then the visitors eventually made it comfortable.

Alejandro Garnacho smashed in a sensational goal-of-the-season contender as Manchester United beat Everton in the Toffees' first game since their 10-point deduction.

Garnacho's incredible third-minute effort silenced the fiery home faithful at Goodison Park, as fans vented their fury with anti-Premier League protests following their unprecedented sanction.

There looked to be no danger when Diogo Dalot dinked a cross into the box, but Garnacho had other ideas, taking a couple of steps back before leaping into the Merseyside sky and unleashing an unstoppable bicycle kick which sailed over Jordan Pickford and into the net.

The goal was the only chance that United created in the first half and Everton will be left wondering how they did not go in at least level at the break.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the home side's main culprit in their flurry of chances, drawing decent saves from Andre Onana and sending a gilt-edged opportunity with a free header over the bar.

United, without suspended manager Erik ten Hag on the touchline, had given a debut to impressive 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo and the midfielder made a superb clearance off the line to deny Dwight McNeil.

Everton were made to rue their numerous misses as Ashley Young was adjudged to have tripped Anthony Martial in the box and Marcus Rashford stepped up to confidently score the penalty.

Martial finished off a slick team move for United's third as they moved up to sixth in the Premier League, while Everton are in significant trouble at the bottom end, in 19th position and five points from safety.

Willian grabbed an injury-time winner from the penalty spot as Fulham beat Wolves in an entertaining Premier League match at Craven Cottage.

With the score at 2-2 referee Michael Salisbury awarded the match's third penalty when he adjudged Joao Gomes to have fouled Harry Wilson, and Willian hammered the ball into the bottom corner from the spot.

Alex Iwobi had opened the scoring in the seventh minute for the hosts, side-footing Antonee Robinson's cutback through the legs of Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa.

Matheus Cunha equalised for the visitors after 22 minutes, heading in Jean-Ricner Bellegarde's cross after the Frenchman skilfully beat Robinson down the right.

Willian restored Fulham's lead with the first penalty of the game just before the hour mark after Nelson Semedo had caught Tom Cairney on the edge of the box.

But Wolves soon had a penalty of their own inside the final 20 minutes when Tim Reem bundled over Hwang Hee-chan and the South Korea winger struck Wolves' second equaliser from the spot.

Fulham rode their luck and benefitted from another late penalty call to sneak all three points.

Fulham 3-2 Wolves: Willian scores twice from the spot as Marco Silva's side eventually secure win at Craven Cottage

Willian scored an injury-time winner from the penalty spot as Wolves were on the wrong end of more video assistant referee controversy in their Premier League defeat at Fulham.

With the score at 2-2 referee Michael Salisbury awarded the match's third penalty after a VAR review.

Salisbury had initially waved play on after Harry Wilson and Joao Gomes came together in the box, but overturned his call after the VAR advised him to look at the pitchside monitor.

Willian then dispatched his second spot-kick of the half.

But Wolves soon had a spot-kick of their own inside the final 20 minutes when Tim Reem bundled over Hwang Hee-chan and the South Korea winger struck Wolves' second equaliser from 12 yards.

Fulham rode their luck and benefitted from another late penalty call to sneak all three points.

It was a tale of three penalties at Craven Cottage.

The first spot-kick referee Salisbury awarded was when Semedo caught Cairney in the area, although the VAR took a lengthy look at the call.

It upheld the on-field decision, even if Semedo did touch the ball as he made contact with Cairney.

About 15 minutes later Wolves won a penalty of their own when a long ball over the top had Hwang sprinting in on goal, but he was caught by Reem inside the area. The VAR had a quicker look at the decision, although the call appeared to be clear-cut.

Salisbury had initially waved play on in stoppage time when Fulham's Wilson hit the deck, but was sent to his pitchside monitor by the VAR and awarded a third penalty which Willian dispatched.

There was time for a late penalty shout in the dying seconds of the match, when the ball struck the arm of a Fulham defender - albeit accidently - and play was rightly waved on.

The result ended Fulham's four-match winless run in the Premier League as they recorded their first league victory since beating Sheffield United 3-1 on 7 October.

Plans for football to introduce 10-minute sin-bins for cynical fouls and dissent have been recommended for trialling in the professional game.

The game's lawmakers, the International Football Association Board (Ifab), said it will "identify which levels are best to test".

The trial will also include a rule allowing only the team captain to approach the referee during a game.

Sin-bins have been trialled at grassroots level since 2019.

The proposals were announced at an Ifab meeting in London on Tuesday and are subject to approval at their Annual General Meeting in March 2024.

Former referee Pierluigi Collina, chairman of the Fifa referees committee who sits on the governing body's technical subcommittee, said the proposed trials would "very probably" involve professional football.

Ifab secretary Lukas Brud said one of the next steps was to identify the appropriate competition where the trials could take place.

"The positive message of the meeting is that 'yes, we're going to do something in that direction'," Brud told BBC Sport.

"Over the next weeks and months we are going to identify which levels are best to test.

"I'm hoping in the next few months we will have clarity about which competitions will want to trial this as well.

"It's up to them, competition organisers, to decide whether they want to participate in those trials or not.

"I think it is important to understand that something big like this, and a big decision like that, has to be considered thoroughly when creating protocols and setting up the system to trial it."

Trials on sin-bins for tactical fouling under consideration
Sin-bins were piloted in 2018-19 and led to the Football Association reporting a 38% total reduction in dissent across 31 leagues.

They were then introduced across all levels of grassroots football from the 2019-20 season in an attempt to to improve levels of respect and fair play.

The rule change was then implemented up to step five of the National League system and tier three and below in women's football.

FA chief executive Mark Bullingham, a member of the Ifab board, indicated sin-bins for tactical fouls could also be considered in the future.

"I think [there is] frustration for fans watching games when they see a promising counter-attack that's ruined by that [a tactical foul]," Bullingham said.

"The question of whether a yellow card is sufficient for that has led to us looking at whether that should be involved in the protocol as well.

"The starting point was looking at player behaviour and dissent - we're then looking at whether we should extend it into other areas, such as tactical fouls, as well."

Manchester United's flight to Newcastle has been cancelled, forcing a late change of travel plans for the Premier League clash on Saturday.

The Red Devils now face a three-hour coach journey to St James' Park.

It is understood United had a contingency plan in place due to freezing cold weather conditions across the UK - but 'Plan B' is far from ideal on matchday.

The squad arrived at Manchester Airport at 10am on Saturday morning ahead of an 11am flight.

But the short plane journey was cancelled due to bad weather and technical problems.

The Red Devils could face yet more delays after the Met Office warned that road journeys are likely to be affected by the icy conditions.

Multiple flights have been suspended in the UK after temperatures dropped below minus 10C in some areas overnight.

A number of football matches have been called off due to frozen pitches.

The Gunners, 6-0 winners over Lens in midweek, took an early lead when Bukayo Saka got the better of Craig Dawson in the penalty area before firing low into the bottom corner.

It was 2-0 not long afterwards, Martin Odegaard finishing a magnificent team move involving Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus to double the hosts' advantage.

Gabriel Martinelli struck the outside of the post with a low shot, while Leandro Trossard and Jesus both went close as Arsenal pressed for a third goal that would have put the result beyond doubt.

Wolves improved in the second half and Matheus Cunha tested David Raya's reflexes with a powerful effort at the near post, before curling a superb drive into the top corner to give the visitors hope with five minutes remaining.

Gary O'Neil's side were unable to complete the fightback, however, and Eddie Nketiah fired against the frame of the goal for Arsenal not long after Cunha's strike.
