Manchester United FC | 2024/25 Season

Yes, and No, Uncle Immy.

Whilst it will hurt our recruitment plans for the summer with player incomings .

Part of me is pleased, we can solely concentrate on the domestic scene next seen and prepare for the pre season Thoroughly.

Let's face it, we are million miles away with competing in the Champions league wth Europe's Finest.
Yes son but I think the biggest concern will be the financial standing of the club.
I do hope I'm wrong but the club is standing on a cliff edge at the moment.

'Are we good enough?' - Shaw questions Man Utd squad

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw says his team-mates must question whether they are good enough to be at the club following the Europa League final defeat by Tottenham.

Brennan Johnson's first-half goal ended Spurs' 17-year trophy drought and with it ensured United would be without European football next season.

United are already guaranteed to finish in their lowest ever Premier League position, with the side currently in 16th with one game to play.

Failure to win the Europa League will impact United's ability to sign players this summer but Shaw, 29, says there are question marks over the existing squad at Old Trafford.

"It's hard to put into words the season, but I think for a club like Manchester United, it's not really good enough," said England defender Shaw.

"I think definitely me and I think all of us have to question ourselves tonight. Are we good enough to be here? Because this club, this season, it's not acceptable.

"We know that and it's down to us. I think we have to look at ourselves. Something has to change."

Defeat in Bilbao means captain Bruno Fernandes has now lost two Europa League finals, following the loss to Villarreal in 2021.

The 30-year-old Portugal midfielder, who has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, says he will leave United this summer if they choose to "cash in".

"I have always been honest," said Fernandes.

"If the club thinks it's time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it's what it is. Football sometimes is like this.

"I've always said I will be here until the club says to me that it's time to go. I'm eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to the great days.

"The day that the club thinks that I'm too much or it's time to part ways, football is like this, you never know it. But I've always said it and I keep my word in the same way."

This fat cr*p Luke Shaw is definitely not good enough. He represents Man United's decline perfectly. A mediocre player who barely plays and is stealing a living at the club since 2014, yet there are Man United fans who rate this clown

Tough times for united. Never followed the PL matches so decided to watch the final only to be bitterly disappointed with the managers tactics as well as the players crappy performance.

Need a complete removal of all the crap players at united who are overally paid jokers.

Surely academy or under 19 players have more passion than the current clowns playing for united.

Arsenal have won nothing
They never really challenged Scousers for the Title, beat a mediocre Madrid side and flopped in other domestic competitions

As for Declan, I'd take Ryan Gravenberch or Alexis Macc Allister over him any day. Their performances speak volumes, hence, romped to the title.

You would take Casemiro over Rice and look how that turned out?

The thing is I don’t understand what the issue is with Rice’s price tag when you’ve signed an over the hill Casemiro for £60-70m.

We got Ugarte as the cover for Casimero in the long run.

Like I said. I'd take Gravenberch or Alexis Macc Allister over Rice far better players.

Man Utd close to signing Wolves' Cunha

Matheus Cunha's transfer to Manchester United is at an advanced stage as the Wolves forward nears a £62.5m move to Old Trafford.

BBC Sport understands United will be required to pay the full fee for the Brazil attacker in three instalments, during a two-year period.

The two parties are closing in on a total agreement over personal terms, with sources indicating a deal over the forward's package is now a formality.

Wolves are yet to receive a formal approach, but that is expected in the coming days.

Cunha's release clause is worth £62.5m, meaning there is no requirement for lengthy club-to-club negotiations - provided United meet the specific terms of the buy-out.

Well-placed sources have indicated that they will be required to pay the full amount by the end of the 2026-27 campaign.

The first £20.8m will be paid upon purchase and the second instalment at the end of next season, with the final amount due in the summer of 2027.

Cunha has made 92 appearances since arriving at Wolves, initially on loan, from Atletico Madrid in January 2023, scoring 33 goals for the club.

The 25-year-old almost certainly played his last game for Wolves in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Brentford and has since taken to social media to post a message to supporters.

He wrote: "Individually it was the best season of my life. All of this was only possible because of all the dedication and love I have for this club.

"I became the Brazilian with the most goals in a Premier League season along with Roberto Firmino and Gabriel Martinelli.

"I made mistakes and got things right, but always because I lived this club so much. All I ever wanted was to do the impossible for Wolves. Another one is over. And thank you for all the affection."

United will do OK next season. They need to back this manager.
We have money to spend after sales, so we need to get 5 or 6 to go into the first eleven.
Amorim did this at Sporting first season. 20 players left in the summer, and he built from there.

You dont win any games in the prem if you start every game with 10 men (hojlund)

You cant play every game twice a week like that- it will kill you- and then a dodgy keeper on top.

Onana and Rasmus replaced by someone competent is 20 points more next season, straight off the bat.

Add in Cunha a wing back and a midfielder, and one game a week, we have to be pushing for top 4.

Money shouldnt be an issue as we will make big money on the following

Rashford 40
Anthony 35
Sancho 25
Garnacho 65
Malacia 10
Onana 30 (saudi)

That is 200m and then we don't need to replace Lindlof Evans and Eriksen, as we need a smaller squad with no Europe (so thats 25m in wages saved from them too)

WE might be able to shift on Rasmus, Maguire Casemiro Mainoo Bruno Mount Shaw depending on what the manager wants also.

Its over to ineos to back the manager.

I for one am happy he has come in and STUCK to what he wants to do, and if that has shown up certain players so be it.

We wanted ten hag to play ajax football, and he didnt do it and adapted to the players short term but could never go back.

Ineos needs to make sure this is different.

I am not judging amorim until the end of next season and even then the target should be to allow the big turnover in playing staff to bed in, and be in the top 4 if we make a table for the last 20 games of the season.

Amorim has no excuses next season. The bare minimum next season should be top 6. If he doesn't start the season well, he will be gone by October/November. Knowing Ratcliff, he won't hesitate to pull the trigger.

I don’t think United should give up on Amorim yet. But think so far Amorim has been one of the worst managers I’ve seen over a season. Tactically rubbish and stubborn. I’m not sure his system will even work even if he gets his player. Nearly every player got worse. I’ve never seen a manager so unadaptable.

Even Europa league final. It was amorims fault. Brought the subs on far too late, sent in the wrong team. I can’t believe he waited 70 mins to do something. Had he even done it at half time I think the result would have been different.

Spurs adapted in the final playing an unusual style for them to cover for injuries to their attack. And it worked.

Worse still spurs can blame injuries for this season. Man United can’t, they didn’t have anywhere near the amount of injuries nearly everyone was fit.

I even think sending away rashford, Anthony, now Garnacho is a bit of a mistake. They are better than the likes of Hojlund, Mount etc.

And because of this disaster season, recruitment will be harder too.

Kind of feel it’s the situation where he might be the right manager just the wrong time. I don’t think he’s the best guy to get rid of the deadwood in the squad, get the best of a bad bunch and get the club to get a stage where someone can actually build. Ironically for all the hate ole did that somewhat. Ten Haag when ahead and ruined the squad spending a fortune. All that damage has to be undone now.

I’d give him time, but it feels like the worst situation and extremely high risk to have a manager like Amorim come in.

Now lost to ASEAN all stars. Crazy stuff.

I don’t see how the board make that leap of faith backing Amorim fully in the transfer market with results like this. Too much of a risk especially when they are reeling from the signings of previous regime. And they will have to pay far above the proper price and higher wages to attract good players with no European football. And clearly Amorim can not succeed with these current players, he’s made that clear already.

If Amorim goes surely it’s going to be an experienced manager coming in with little financial backing to stabilise. They can’t afford another risk.

Man Utd booed off after defeat in Malaysia

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim believes it will do his players good to leave Kuala Lumpur with the sound of boos ringing in their ears after a 1-0 loss to ASEAN All-Stars.

After ending a desperate Premier League campaign with a victory over Aston Villa on Sunday, the club flew 6,600 miles to Malaysia only to find there was no respite from their troubles.

Less than 24 hours after Wolves striker Matheus Cunha was cleared to have a medical before completing a £62.5m move to Old Trafford, United's old goalscoring failings struck again in the first match of the post-season tour to Asia.

In temperatures of more than 30 degrees and high humidity, Amorim's side failed to take a succession of chances despite regular substitutions which meant they ended up using 25 outfield players.

A second-half goal from Myanmar winger Maung Maung Lwin was enough to give a South East Asia XI victory in front of an official attendance of 72,550 at the Bukit Jalil Stadium, triggering boos from a substantial portion at the final whistle from fans who had paid up to £260 to watch United on their first visit to Malaysia since 2009.

This would be too much even for comedy sketch writers.

Man Utd have turned Maung Maung Lwin into prime Maradona.

This team was assembled hastily with one training session too.
