What's new

MANGO season is here

We had a Mango tree in our garden in PK, it was planted by my mum back in the 1960`s and although one side of the tree was virtually dead, the harvest was decent. The taste wasnt as good as the commercial variety but none the less the locals enjoyed them. For some reason those Mangoes never agreed with me so i used them as a laxative when i ever trouble with my tummy.

Went and bought Pakistani mangoes last weekend. 6 for $17.. quite expensive but I finished them in two days. Totally worth it.

Not really a fan of Pakistani mangoes. I prefer Central American/Mexican mangoes. Maybe I need to try few more Pakistani mangoes.

Similar here, 3 mangoes for around 8 Euros from a small Pakistani vendor. Also have the green Brazilian abominations for an euro in most supermarkets all year round but they taste like cardboard.

The Mrs who is more sentimental than me (probably due to the Romanian/Greek blood) still reminisces about how she could smell the mangoes on the Rairis from around 800 metres away during mango season. Had a very good nose for jasmine too.

Last summer a coworker was raving about the awesome Dominican mangoes he got over the weekend and then next day I got him some Pakistani mangoes and he comes back and tells me those were the best thing he had had in his life.

Our mangoes are well and truly the best in the world and wipe the floor with garbage like the Alphonso.

I did the same in our school. I put out PK Mango slices in the staff room, and many of the staff commented that they were amazing, some went as far as to say that this was the best fruit they had ever eaten.

Man, I love the subcontinental mangoes! Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to get them here in Ireland. Best I could do was order 20 boxes of mango flavoured Rubicon juice off Amazon. But then I left it out of the fridge for 3 days in hot weather and, well, it now tastes more like lemonade.

Find mangoes very over rated, summer means arrival of the true king of fruits, Lychee..

Karachi starts growing world's priciest 'Miyazaki' Mango

The cultivation of the world's most expensive mango, the 'Miyazaki', has recently begun in Karachi, marking a major milestone in the agricultural landscape of Pakistan. Previously grown exclusively in Japan, this prized fruit now finds a new home in Pakistan's commercial hub.

The 'Miyazaki' mango, renowned for its unique red and purple hues, is a high-value fruit fetching prices between $800 and $900 per kilogram in the international market, translating to approximately Rs250,000 to Rs300,000.

Locally, the price of this luxurious mango can soar to Rs3 lakh per kg, making it a rare and elite commodity not easily accessible to the common consumer.
