Match Ka Mujrim (bechara) Thread

No mujrim for this one. Babar the batsman can be blamed a bit, but it was all about kohli today.
 
Haider Ali and to some extent Shadab with the bat.

When you already know that you don't have the aukaat to hit sixes during the middle of the innings in such a big ground - then why the EFF don't you use your brain and look for fours and singles and doubles and triples instead?

The brain "stinky gas" by our middle order is the key factor behind the loss. We should have scored 180+ here. EASY!

And frankly speaking, Shan Masood's innings wasn't some sorta earth shattering either ... very feeble, weak, lethargic, lack of intent and lack of passion was evident.
He played in survival mode with many miscued shots that could've gone anywhere. Yes, we got runs on the board but his innings wasn't convincing. I don't see him an improved T20 batsman. Should've scored 20 more runs in the end but he couldn't deliver the final flash in the pan.
 
Babar IMO his captaincy cost us the match and him going for 0 runs didnt help.

Also do agree with above poster shadab and haidar ali should have tried to build an innings hit a long the ground a bit and than try to go for it, their was still time left to bat but for what ever reason they just went out slogging.

Haris bowled 2 freebies in his final over too. What happened to being a Yorker specialist?

Nawaz for obvious reasons too.
 
For me it’s the unfit Shaheen.

Kholi is amongst the worlds best, him finishing the game should be no surprise.

Who's to blame for letting them simply bat?. 6 wickets left they knew exactly what they're doing with DK coming in next. Pakistan needed to stifle them but baked out from 12th over onwards. Unacceptable really and it falls on the captain who was too busy admiring his idol

Well… it passed with flying colors.
 
Pakistan team can take many positives from narrow loss against India and I have a feeling they will be pumped up in matches to come and will perform better .

Asif should be out and Haider now only one left who needs a good outing to gain confidence .
 
I feel Rizwan has hit the out of form patch as well, he cannot even get the ball on bat for a tuk, he is dancing around like a maniac. Baber still haven't gotten completely gotten out of "out of form" phase. Don't see how we can improve here when our No1 and No3 ranked are having issues.
 
Rizwan. 2 runs in 12 balls. That basically means we got 160 in 18 overs. He seems To be out of form and his weakness outside off stump has been exposed.

He’s not out of form. You can fully expect a 50 off 40 balls vs Zimbabwe.

This match was similar to the first encounter in Asia Cup. Nawaz (a spinner) bowled last over there too.

What could have been done?

Iftikhar bowled economically in NZ tri series. Babar should have gone to him for subsequent Nawaz's over (14th I think) if he had lost confidence in Nawaz.

Conclusion:

Spinner should not be bowling death overs in pressure situations. (Ajmal v Hussey, Nawaz v Pandya, Nawaz v Kohli)


2: TM (don't give confidence to players)

Playing half fit Shaheen. + Demoting Haider Ali down the order even after he helped us win tri series Final

What could have been done?

Waseem / Hasnain. Waseem might have improved batting depth. Haris couldn't connect last 3 balls.

Inability of our pacers to bowl YORKERS at death (overs 16--20)

Shaheen was half fit so could be excused.

Haris didn't bowl any. [MENTION=93712]MenInG[/MENTION] Kohli is not someone who's known for helicopter shots. (Last 2 balls of his spell went for 12.)

The batting for sure and Shaheen's injury. We had made a match out of even 137. With him bowling the two overs on this wicket, it could have gone either way.
 
For me, Babar. Threw it away after a start and was standing too far back in long off for the Stokes chance

It was a collective brain freeze by the entire batting squad.

We played 18 dot balls in the powerplay, so essentially our powerplay was 3 overs; however, we made up for it and were it a reasonable position after overs.

Hard to point finger to one individual but if I had to pick one, then, it's gotta be Chacha ji.

That one maiden over totally killed it.

For God's sake, you are playing WC T20 final ... and u got wickets in hand - why the eff, such a timid, full of cowardice and under-confident approach? You've got nothing to lose, go down the wicket and try to smack him over Adil's head .... what's the fear here?

I just can't get my head around it ... why the heck was he SO DAMN timid and tentative? You simply don't have time to settle in ... GO FOR IT - HIT EM !!

But no, he had his pants wet after seeing that little leg spin. What a farce !!
 
It was a collectively bad batting effort. However special mention for Ifti and Wasim as they were struggling to lay bat on ball. T20 games have such fine margins that 10 singles off those play and misses could have made a difference. After the Zimbabwe game it should have been completely apparent that Wasim should play at no11 on bouncy pitches. Pathetic. He also bowled an equally pathetic 3rd over.

The other problem was of course babar and rizwan setting such a poor precedent. If you look across the match, the first 4 overs or so were the easiest to score of. These two tuk tuk merchants choked.

Didn't bat with any confidence. Gave his wicket away. Should have told his team to target singles. Dropped catch opportunity. Not bowling out Shaheen
 
Match ka Mujrim, too many with bat. Tournament ka mujrim Mohammed Nawaz. Couldn’t win the game with the ball v India, balling full tosses and wides. Couldn’t finish the game at the end v Zimbabwe with what should have been a very simple chase. And then hardly balled in the remaining games. He turned out to be a useless selection.

Rizwan has now been the biggest culprit in two major tournament losses for Pak - Asia cup and the WC.

15(14) in a WC final as an opener? Unacceptable

Chacha completely killed the momentum of our innings just when we were about to kick on.

Harris did not apply his brain at all. Kept trying to go hard at the ball when the pitch was clearly difficult. Regardless of experience, you need to be able to read the game better at this level.

Nawaz played such a silly innings. He had ample time to make an impact. Did not target the gaps in a huge ground. Very poor from an experienced player.

I’d add Babar to that list too but right at the bottom. Again, he was too slow for an opener.

I think Rizwan should be dropped from the T20 side and Iftikhar should not play for Pakistan again.

Without a doubt Ifti. Consumed too many dots without scoring. Even the lower order could have scored more runs if they had the same opportunity.

Then he gets hit for boundaries in his 5 ball spell.

Exactly.

It became all about 4s and 6s instead of 1s, 2s and 3s with the occasional boundary.

Clueless batting.

With respect i don't think Mohammad Wasim styles himself as an all rounder. He is a fast bowler with the ability to bash a few, ala Hasan Ali or Wahab Riaz. We shouldn't be relying on him to do anything with the bat.

Indeed. If both were still there for the last 10 balls then they can try and find the fence, they would have their eye by then too.

Shan in particular has a pretty average power game when the ball isn't a particular hitting zone. He needed to stay to the end and allow the bowlers to try be more aggressive around him.
 
Babars captaincy. You desperately need wickets upfront, you just picked up the wicket of Buttler, the ball is seaming, swinging, bouncing, traveling quickly to the keeper and you don't have a few slips in, you don't bowl Shaheen (When he was fit then) and Rauf out.

This is now the third major ICC event we have lost under Babars captaincy. There has to be some accountability at some point.

I completely disagree here. Bowling out Shaheen and Rauf would have been an absolutely terrible idea.

Accountability for getting us to an ICC final? The progress under Babar's wing has been pretty solid. The final step is needed but we're talking about a sample size of about what, 3 games? Hardly able to extrapolate much from that.

Honestly I have no idea if Harris was gonna work later on, maybe his nerves would have calmed down later in the game. But then everyone would have asked for heads by not sending him in PP as he is a "360 degree" batsman and would have been God send in PP. Agree with not bowling Shaheen earlier and that again comes down to bad captaincy by Babar. Not so sure about Nawaz either, maybe he hasn't fully regained the trust. We for sure are missing a reliable spinner like Hafeez/Imad.

For some reason at MCG our batsmen lose 50-60% of their brain cells.

Rizwan got out to due poor technique.

Babar got out because pressure got to him. He’s great for soft chases in the region of 140-150 but when it’s time to actually be the captain and lead from the front, he ***** his pants and transforms into Ahmed Shehzad where he’s finding fielder shot after shot and unable to clear the infield or find gaps. Compare this to Stokes, Brook who are not compared to Kohli, yet… somehow… can find gaps.

M Haris has IQ problems. You see the ground is massive and still go for a good old heave. Also, this guy cannot rotate the strike. Couldn’t rotate the strike Vs NZ either. It’s either big shot or bust. Struggles Vs spin continue.

Iftikhar got a good delivery.

Shan punched far above his weight. A true clutch innings where batsmen more talented than him decided to have brain farts.

Nawaz has mentally checked the **** out since India game. Seriously. No idea why Babar told him “you are my champion, my match winner” but refuses to bowl him now and knows this guy needs therapy if he is to continue to bat for us. Wasted batting slot.

Shadab also lost brain cells with the bat at a crucial juncture. Did the same thing he did in game 1 at MCG.

Why did the think tank not intervene after they had fallen- nawaz and Wasim could have been told to not hit aerial to the long boundary until the last few balls.

I was just talking about the dismissal which was a good ball. He goofed up Vs Rashid for sure, didn’t mention that but should’ve. Goes without saying.

Did selection of Zahid Mahmood cost Pakistan?

Pakistan had Mohammad Nawaz, who did well against SL and Abrar Ahmed, who has been the best performer in FC cricket. But they went with a 34-year-old who aversges 37+ in FC cricket. He conceded runs at almost 7.5 rpo across both innings. He was bowling 1 poor ball almost every over.

He is also a typical tailender who averages 11 with the bat. So how did he get selected.

This one bad selection has cost Pakistan this test.
 
The team overall were totally unprepared for Bazball and how it totally changes the approach to the game.
 
Naseem Shah, the so-called super talented fast bowler conceded 206 runs in 33.5 overs at an embarrassing economy rate of 6.19 runs per over.

That was the difference between the two sides. Had he kept his economy rate around 3.5 - 4 which he should have if he is as talented as his fans say, Pakistan would have won the match.

An embarrassing Test match for a deeply mediocre bowler who Test career has been nothing but a joke so far.

Hasan Ali, any other tail ender even Naseem could have won it for Pakistan , Hasan almost lost the match.

Don;t know why was he in the team ??

I think Babar the captain lost it for us today. 194 as a target with two first over wickets. The chase shouldn't have been on

Twice when Pakistan were on top first he brought Shadab (7th over) instead of Ihsan who had bowled a searing over to Chapman and then gave Faheem an over from where NZ totally turned the tables.
 
Babar's captaincy that was big total. Babar was also wrong to slect Faheem over Zaman Khan. With Imad and Shadab in the team and Shaheen hitting Pakistan have enough lower order batting to bat out 20 overs effectively.

Pakistan need Babar and Rizwan to open and bat through because we have poor players after them…

But then Pakistan can easily close out with Imad, Shadab and Shaheen….

Seen it so many times. How much more do we have to sit through with him giving the game away after we’re in control? It’s been more than a year of us throwing won games in t20s now..
 
In today's match versus NZ I think very few of the players can actually hold their head up high and say they had a good match.

Most were awful, below par, complacent and simply not good enough.
 
One and only bad captaincy! he seems to struggle with the timing of deploying different bowlers and managing their rotations.
