How many times have we heard people calling for this honorable man's head in the last 2 years?

Doesn't get himself into any major conteoversies, is an honest guy, just puts his head down and makes runs and looks as classy as ever. But no people always pick on the nice guy and want a youngsters beauty legside hack to replace him.

He's a senior, deserves our respect, and is nurturing younger batsmen with the incredible LOI form he is in right now.

Proving his haters wrong overseas already. Professor giving a lecture atm on overseas batting :hafeez2

Mohammad Hafeez : Pakistan's best batsman on pacy wickets?

He already had a stellar record in NZ.

And he usually loves it when the ball comes on to bat nicely at pace.

Plus the stroke play that he possess, where he effortlessly places the ball and hit boundaries with soft hands.

It's amazing. Rohit Sharma-like, beauty to watch when on song. Whacked NZ pace bowlers in the first T20I, now again in the 3rd ODI.

I think he's definitely among the best, but not 'the' best. A bit inconsistent for my liking.

How about this?

Mohammad Hafeez : Pakistan's best batsman?

:inti

He is currently Pakistan best batsman in ODI, with this being said I feel like Pakistan Cricket Board want him to develop and follow the way of play similar to Misbah. Basically I feel like PCB want him to be our new Misbah, a new anchor if you would. Personally I want to see him open in ODI rather than No.3. Ahmed is awful and Azhar and Hafeez have a good record of opening together. Babar Azam could be promoted to No.3 spot or Haris Sohail (once fit).

Most improved batsman in the world since bunnygate.

He has improved as a batsman since his bowling ban. Perhaps the ban was a blessing in disguise for him.

Very happy to see him bat well but I do miss his 10 overs of economical bowling.

There are no such things as pacy wickets anymore.

Our wickets are dead just quicker than the slow tracks of the SC.

No.

There's very good bounce on this track today. Good bounce being generated and pace looks exaggerated as well on a lot of deliveries.

Plus he's doing good against Milne/Henry who bowl at good pace anyways.

We'll find out next time he goes to South Africa :)

If there's decent bounce, how does it make the wicket pacy?

The WACA was pacy, this is certainly not.

Not consistent enough. Looks pretty but mostly underperforms.

Most PAK batsman are good on pacy wickets......

When it moves around, its when we struggle.

You've changed your opinion about 10 times now. Just the other day you were criticizing him.

Regarding OP, he will definitely fail in overseas tests. LOI pitches have nothing in them and the white kooka doesn't swing more than 5 overs.

Not everyone is this good. Apart from Umar Akmal and probably Azam.

Hafeez's batting is poetry in motion. Rohit Sharma level class.

Credit to Hafeez for doing well. But Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad have done well on these tracks as well in the past.

Hafeez has been in terrific form since his ban though. It did him a lot good.

This is the same ground he got his MOM award in, I'm sure that has a lot to do with the way he's playing right now.

Still doesn't change the fact that he's Mr.inconsistent.

No disrespect to the guy, nice batting today but my gut feeling when Hafeez is batting as comfortably as he is today is that this has to be a very good batting track -- defending 300 on this wicket will not be easy, mark my words.

Hafeez only looks fluent when the bowling is either very ordinary or the wicket is very flat, not being biased but history will confirm this fact.

SUPER consistent since the last 2 years. Our best performer and batsman in ODIs (tests too).

And unlike Don :malik , he has performed against top sides and bowling attacks. Malik has gone missing after bashing Zimbabwe.

Our best batsman in ODIs in the last few years. Super consistent.

None of our batsmen can score centuries when the ball is swinging. Today it was actually swinging at the start but he was good.

Give credit where due. I also have had mixed opinions about his batting but start liking him whenever he plays such poetry in motion.

Spot On brother.

Do you feel at this age he can improve his game against outswingers ? To cope people like broad , Anderson and Steyn better than his past ?

Babar was putting too much pressure on him to do all the work otherwise he was dead set for another scholarly hun'ed.

Lol bhai.

If someone is a beast batsman and also performs against outswingers of Steyn/Anderson, then he's already Tendulkar level talent.

Nobody in the world right now is that good, not even Kohli.

Facing quality bowling in ODIs is not a joke, so not sure where you got that impression of "spot on". Tell me why Malik can never bat against a top attack, then? Or averages 3 and 4 in NZ/England?

Or why batsmen from Asia fail even in ODIs abroad?

It's not as demanding as consistent swing in Tests, yes, but not a joke either and certainly requires skilled batting.

now this is the acid test which will confirm for sure how good this batting wicket is - Shoaib Malik arrives at the crease, if he looks comfortable too then it's a belter :)

It indeed is a belter, I think we aren't denying that.

Anyways, Shoaib will require a miracle to perform against good pace bowling even if it's a flat runway.

Good innings by Hafeez, will give credit where it's due , regardless of conditions,, it's been a long time since I have enjoyed watching Pakistan bat for a 10 over spell.

Nothing has changed.

He still hasn't got a clue where his off-stump is, but in ODIs it doesn't get exposed because there is no slip cordon.

And, of course, he has moved down to number three to try to hide from the new ball. Even if he comes in in the fourth over, Boult only has one or two overs left in his first spell.

Played a great innings today.

Great by Pakistani standards.

That shot of middle and leg of 152kph milne delivery for six for a quality shot. Loved it.

The Professor brought the schooling to the Kiwis

Since thread is about hafeez so let's talk about him.

Yousuf also got out alot in slips and so did Saeed Anwar (talking in context of hafeez) but they sometimes succeeded aswell against such quality bowling.

Hafeez's issue has been that if the baller is bowling outswing at good length than if bowler is Anderson or Steyn than 90 % of times he will get out cheaply. If it's anyone else than too 60 70 % chances he would get out cheaply. Few examples even from Zimbabwe medium pacer panyangara , chatara and Brain Vettori in test cricket and few odis.

Shoaib Malik. Well he has played few games in new Zealand. But i don't consider him a better batsman against pace compared to hafeez. He is and was very weak against short pitch fast medium or fast bowling and unlike Hafeez who was a top order batsman since college days Malik was a number 9 batsman who was a offspinner when he made pakistan team. Still Malik with hardwork and playing most of his cricket in Asia averages 34 I guess which isn't that bad.

Hafeez should work with Basit Ali & Mansoor Rana at NCA for 2,3 weeks before England tour. He is a free flowing player and if he can average 30+ in England test series than it will be hugely beneficial for Pakistan team.

Despite all the deficiencies in hafeez since 2010 he has averaged 40 plus in tests , 30, 35 plus in odi cricket and 25 plus in T20 cricket. Which isn't bad. Is good. Also uptil getting banned he has done v good with ball too.

All of Hafeez haters report for some humble pie. Those who said Bolt Henry and Milne will have fishing and choking to outswingers.

Hafeez since getting banned from bowling is averaging 46.30 in ODIs, much higher than his career average 32.35.

I think its 'China Hafeez with 15 years of experience,' who's deal is make or break this year!!!

Yeah haters, talk nah!:hafeez2

I was the only one backing him when y'all were trashing him left, right and center for his batting and Amir issue.. So don't join the Professor brigade now:hafeez

after his bowling been stripped off, he has improved his batting leaps and bounds to earn for a living....very good knock today..

He is a much improved batsman after his bowling ban and should be commended for maintaining the hunger to improve and perform for the team. He is easily the best Pakistani batsman in Tests and ODIs (combined) at the moment. However, he should really not play T20s.

Mohammad Hafeez should get the credit that he never tried to hide behind inexperienced batsmen like actual ODI greats like Inzimam and Yousuf who were far superior batsmen but did not like to face the new ball.

He is the only Pakistani player i remember who has improved so much. His ODI and Test form has been superb since he got banned. He and Azhar both are being targeted by everyone because of the stand they took against Amir and co.

Yeah performing well but still not taking his team home. Find it really strange.

He's mercurial. Either he is a total dud and looks absolutely lost out there or he is very solid and you wonder why you were ever agitated by him.

Him and Malik are our veterans now.

Owned his haters in New Zealand already.

Now will send them packing in England as well where a lot of said haters are based.

But he is getting injured too much in recent times.

He gets injured every few weeks, so I can't see him playing more than two more years.

Honestly think he'll look to be ultra aggressive in possibly his last game in England.

He has improved since his bowling ban, England test is his chance to silence his critics. Personally I'm not expecting great things from him in England but let's see if he can prove me wrong. His bowling should help us as well.

People need to remember that he got bullied by the best Test bowler in the world. Does that necessarily mean he will flop in England? I don't even know myself.

He got bullied by the out swinger. It doesn't matter who bowls it. He should not be an opener in these conditions.
