Mohammad Rizwan's captaincy - Thoughts?

Fakhar 26 sixes and his team won the PSL

By 1 run. Fakhar’s runs throughout the tournament in the position they came have won his team the PSL

Rizwan’s runs have botched 2 PSL finals

Rizwan the batsman has failed to make a big contribution with the bat in 4 finals for Multan and Pakistan he’s nowhere near the best batsmen in T20 cricket.

Final ho aur Rizzu bhai missing na ho

Yeh kaise ho sakta hai?

Very poor captaincy from him to not continue with Osama Mir and Khusdil with the ball when they were proving to be very difficult to get away.

T20 Cricket is all about going for the bowlers who are bowling very well on the day and are on a roll. The last 5 overs cost the Sultans 85 runs.

Disagree. Shaheen actually attacked Usama when he came on. You also can’t bowl Khushdil at Shaheen, because with the bowl turning into him, that would have been a butchering. Going to Ihsanullah was the right move.

He’d got LQ to 115 for 5. The next wicket from there would have got LQ to 160 all out.

Shaheen sensed that and disrupted that flow by going at the MS bowlers. Sometimes you just have to applaud the opposing team than it being bad captaincy.

His captaincy has been massively overrated by the Rizwan fan club. The green tinted hype brigade never learn.

The game was lost when MS conceded 85 off the last 5 overs. I don't think I've ever seen so many runs come off the last 30 balls especially in a final. Rizwan has to be held accountable for that. Abbas Afridi and Ihsanullah were two of the best bowlers in the tournament so it's not like he had bums for bowling him.

Some people will say MS choked in that run chase and that the batsmen are to blame but no they did so well to score 199. Chasing 200 in a final is seriously hard and it wouldn't have been anywhere close if it wasn't for Shaheen's two awful overs during the powerplay and Haris Rauf conceding 20 in the penultimate over with some very poor bowling. Also, Zaman Khan made the contest even closer when he somehow missed the stumps with what was an easy run out chance. That cost LQ a further 2 runs.

I'll give Rizwan some credit. He is a leader of men and I like his positive vibes but from a tactical standpoint, I don't want to hear anyone say he should captain Pakistan one day.

Poor captaincy from him today. Should have bowled Ihsanullah after his initial over.

Hes clearly the best captain of the the bunch You can clearly see tactically, player management and remaining calm under pressures hes well ahead of the rest of the candidates

Lol. If he had done this i can guarantee you would have said "very poor captaincy to keep the leg spinner on to the left hander. He should have brought a pace bowler on to bowl to Shaheen"

This is not bad captaincy, Shaheen just played a blinder.

You just have to be ruthless as captain of your team and forget about friendship and past performances of your players. Rizwan is great tactically, but just like other captains in PSL, he does get into dosti yaari culture. Khushdil is a nothing player and has been failing miserably for a long time now, but Rizwan refuses to drop him from his team.

Make Rizwan captain and this will be his team:

1. Rizwan
2. Babar
3. Shan
4. Iftikhar
5. Khushdil
6. Shadab
7. Shaheen
8. Usama Mir
9. Abbas Afridi
10. Rauf
11. Ihsanullah

Rizwan is not perfect, but still the best captain in Pakistan and easily the 3rd best player of Pakistan after Babar and Shaheen. Babar and Shaheen have a slow processing speed and always take time in changing the field unless they are helped by a senior. Shadad is just selfish and Imad is always trying to please Wasim Akram and overseas players.

Given how bad Babar is and yet still has decent white ball results, it makes you wonder how much influence Rizwan has been having for the national team.

We have seen Babar struggle a lot as a captain when Rizwan is not around.

It's easy to see he does the chunk of it. Constantly shuffling the field and the first person Babar goes to is Rizwan, not hIs VC

If anyone got asked if this bowling lineup is any good (Pre PSL), they would've said it was one of the worst in the PSL:

Ihsanullah
Abbas Afridi
Usama Mir
Khushdil
Pollard
Cottrell
Anwar Ali

There's not a single international level bowler bar Cottrell (Ihsanullah not proven himself yet) in that lineup. But still Rizwan made them look great, that's what captains do. His captaincy was great, keeping Lahore to 115/5, who would've thought that 150kph Ihsanullah would get tonked by Shaheen and start bowling 3/4 wides?

His bowlers panicked under the pressure because they're relatively new/not international standard. The batting was fine too, run chase set up perfectly but the big overseas players David and Pollard just collapsed. Rizwan is a great leader and his captaincy record in PSL AND domestic proves this.

Finally, someone with reason and logic.

It seems like the knives are out for players at all times no matter what they do. It is actually off putting returning.

It's hilarious the fact that if Multan made one more run the consensus would be Rizwan is the best captain in Pakistan. People need to look at the match from a neutral perspective, only difference was Shaheen Afridi's excellence, nothing Rizwan could do to counter that.

Shaheen looks like a great leader but as a captain he's been given Rashid Khan, Shaheen, Rauf, Zaman and Wiese. Let's see how he does with a worse team. On the other hand Riz has proven himself for years with KPK and now Multan.
