How is Yousuf avoiding criticism whilst Wahab and Razzaq have been removed apparently?

What exactly is his role? Is he a batting coach? Pakistan’s batting performances have been ATROCIOUS since the NZ home series, leading into Ireland, England and then the World Cup. Pakistan didn’t cross 180 once batting first! He’s done nothing to improve Pakistan as a batting unit.

What has he been doing for all these free rides with the PCB? Why has he been retained apparently? Is it because he is a good ambassador of Islam first and then a coach of the national side?

I struggle to understand this as well, and I’m a huge Yousuf fan having watched his entire playing career. A brilliant batsman, but tactically he doesn’t offer much. I thought he did a decent job with our junior players and U-19 team but as a national batting coach there were zero results. As a selector, the results have also been abysmal.

I've said this for years that YK, MoYo need to be inducted in the U-19 and grass root levels to see if they can actually do something that can bring something to the intl scene.

It's not entirely Yousaf's fault though however he is 50% to blame.

Firstly Yousaf himself is an orthodox technical batsmen and in the modern era that doesn't work for T20.

In odi I can only see him improving players like Abdullah shafiq.

Players like rizwan, Usman Khan, Saud Shakeel, Fakhar Zaman who all either have ugly techniques (Rizwan and Usman), or are mostly free flow with very unorthodox stances, In the case of falhar he stands like a baseball player and in the case of saud he usually takes 2 steps forward while standing wide of the crease.

Secondly, it's not like babar and rizwan even want to listen to him lol, if yousaf says its time to improve Sr, What do you think Rizzu's response will be?

Lastly he just isn't a good teacher. His idea for improving player's six hitting ability was to Throw 40kph pies so that they can hit them. He should have had shaheen or naseem or even amir bowl to the batters and given each batsmen 3 tries to hit a six.

Faheem Ashraf had improved under his guidance albeit the Faheem Ashraf era didn't last long.

Anyone who whines on TV the way MoYo did in the past should not be given a job in the PCB.

Are you telling me Yousuf just sat there quietly as a yes man to Wahab and Razzaq???

Na bruv

Anyone who whines on TV the way MoYo did in the past should not be given a job in the PCB.

Maybe that's the reason he has (been given the job). The PCB don't want a loose cannon floating around the airwaves, much rather keep them in their purview instead.

I don't know if you are joking but I actually think this is the reason

This sounds more like a breach of discipline rather than an actual surgery based on facts or performance.

Wahab and Razzaq were the only two gentlemen missing from the meetings PCB have had with the head coaches, while you can clearly see Yousuf, Shafiq and that nepotistic data analyst in the videos.

Maybe Wahab and Razzaq were explicitly told that the meetings will take place in the current dates, yet they decided to skip them and go play Mickey Mouse T20 leagues.

Harsh but true , MoYo is a complete cronie , he never criticised PCB even as a pundit , PCB needs that kind of personality, he has all credentials of this generation Intikhab Alam

PCB needs a guy who is a "YES BOSS" kind of guy and I think Yousuf is that guy in PCB's eye. Otherwise there is no reason for his stay.

Well Mohammad Yousuf's intact position shows that may be he was behind the selection of top performers of T20 WC 2024. But i still doubt it.

I got a pet cat about an year ago. And I now I understand why MoYo is in the PCB. He is like a cat who doesnt actually do anything but brings calmness to the PCB bosses through his mannerism and behaviour.

Well guys...he's gone.
Some of these chats are as toxic as PCB. You'll be hard pressed to find a positive interaction.

What I suspect must have happened:

-Yousuf wanted to select a squad he thought fit the bill on merit and performance. Might have wanted to pick Kamran Ghulam and others whilst dropping Shafique

-Gillespie and Shan (mainly Gillespie) overruled Yousuf’s proposed selections and insisted on sticking with the current squad opting for continuity and backing of players. What can they do? If they drop one player, Abdullah for instance….how can they justify keeping Babar in the team?

-Journalists and fans go crazy on social media, Yousuf faces extreme criticism for the squad selection (although he may have not wanted to go this way).

-PCB gives into the social media frenzy as always and ends up adding 3 players from the champion’s cup to cool down everyone baying for blood. Yousuf still suffers abuse and criticism for being the one at the forefront as the chief selector.

Probably one of the few professional people in the PCB set-up has walked away.

Doesn't spout on Social media like others and focuses on his Job.

He is no longer a selector for the Pakistan cricket team. He announced on X.

Yousuf steps down as selection committee member to focus on coaching role

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today announced that Mohammad Yousuf has voluntarily stepped down from his role as a member of the national selection committee to focus on other key responsibilities within the cricket board.

“The PCB expresses its sincere gratitude to Mohammad Yousuf for his invaluable contributions during his tenure as a selection committee member. Yousuf will continue to play a pivotal role at the PCB, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience as the batting coach at the High Performance Centre.”

Yousuf was the head coach of the Pakistan U19 side that finished third in the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 in South Africa.
