Mohammed Shami on Monday defended his daughter and wife after a photograph posted on December 23 by the Indian cricket team pacer in Facebook led to a slew of unsavoury comments from his followers.

Mohammed Shami faced shocking criticism on social media for posting a picture of his wife in a sleeveless dress. Saying Shami’s wife was un-Islamic, people posting on social media demanded that Shami’s wife, Hasin Jahan, wear the traditional hijab that covers a woman from head to toe. Hasin Jahan is an ex-model from Kolkata.

Mohammed Shami, taken by surprise for the comments, took to Twitter and Facebook to say that he “knew what he was doing.”

“My wife and daughter are my life partners and I know what is to be done and what not,” Mohammed Shami wrote.

The Indian pacer, known for his deadly reverse swing, went on to take a dig at the online trolls saying people who made unacceptable remarks should first “look within.”

Shami has found support from many quarters, including the fiesty badminton star, Jwala Gutta.

Mohammed Shami is currently undergoing rehabilitation for right knee soreness after missing the last two Tests against England.

Former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif came to Shami’s defence on Sunday and called the comments made on the picture ‘extremely shameful’.

Probably some low life's who have nothing better to do.

That's why I stay away from social media as there are too many idiots hovering there waiting to pounce.

Do you personally find anything wrong with the dress?

I honestly couldn't care because it's his wife so if he doesn't have a issue I really don't know why others should.

Some people are just too judgemental especially from the subcontinent. They should focus on themselves rather than finger pointing at others.

Thats what Shami posted on FB today.

Why do you think SC people are so judgemental? Is it an attempt to show themselves as "more Islamic"?

I wish I could know buts it's do with a backward mindset. I think more people should challenge those with such views but I will say again some are just uneducated low life's who will never change.

Shameful stuff from those who commented on someone's personal life.

This is Mullah's tarbeeat yaafta brigade be it be any country.

Your words and your actions represent you, your family, your upbringing and your religious affiliation.

I miss the olden days of social network where only white people were haters

When it comes to the eastern world, Its hardly confined to muslims. Even Hindus pass lots of judgemental comments ,sometimes lewd, in the name of Bhartiya sabhiata.

Pakistan India mein jis ne khud kabhi masjid mandir mei paon na rakha howa ho kabhi dosroon ko bohot preach kartay hain... let people live their lives legally...

Dont take it otherwise, and i am talking about the entire SC,but we the educated lot have long hidden behind the "Uneducated, lack of knowledge"excuse.

No ones business how Shami's wife dresses. It's a personal matter, from attacking Saif's baby's name to having a go at how a Muslim lady dresses, it's ridiculous. Hijab was never really a part of the subcontinents Muslim heritage anyway!

Shami should ignore them.

There isn't a celebrity on social media who isn't a victim of this nonsense.

Some Muslims being ignorant again. You aren't anyone to tell a woman how she should dress. Mind your own business you idiots.

I have seen Hindu trolls online preaching when they see a picture of woman in bikinis.

But Shami's wife's dress is pretty normal for most Hindus. I guess its just the standards.

I don't know what social media was like in the old days but you'll find burning with jealousy and vitriol is a universal trait. For many it's what they live for, especially on social media, including here.

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, in a befitting reply to his detractors, on Sunday tweeted another romantic picture of him and wife Hasin Jahan wishing 'Happy New Year' to fans.

Shami was earlier trolled and abused for the outfit of his wife, after he had posted her picture on Twitter.
He wrote poetic lines too with Sunday's picture to support and show love for his wife.

The cricketer tweeted in Hindi and wrote,"Na Sathi Hai Na Hamara Hai Koi Na Kisi Ke Hum Na Hamara Hai Koi Par Apko Dekh Kar Keh Sakte Hain Ek Pyarasa Humsafar Jai Koi Happy New Year," (Neither I have any companion, nor anyone is mine nor I belong to anyone. But seeing you I can say there is one beautiful companion with me. Happy New Year).

Few days ago, Shami was attacked by a section of his 'fans' over a Facebook photo of his wife Hasin Jahan and his daughter. He was then viciously trolled, with some even abusing him for his wife's outfit.

Shami was reminded of his religion, with some even asking why Hasin Jahan was not wearing a hijab.

The 26-year-old, who is recovering from a knee injury, took to Twitter to hit back by writing.

"Not everyone gets what they desire, only a lucky few get it. They are my wife and daughter and I know what I should do. We should all look inwards," the pacer tweeted had tweeted.

Shami, widely regarded as one of India's best pacers, has struggled with injuries in the last couple of years. The Bengal bowler even missed the last two Tests against England.

Even Muslim female models aren't shown any mercy. It is not a subcontinent thing, even idiots born and raised here do it too. They also like mind numbing posts on facebook and it shows up on my feed. I unliked all the Muslim celebrities and even most of my Muslim Facebook friends so I didn't have to see a lot of stupidity.

Mohammed Shami trolled for posting Shivling picture

Mohammed Shami has been trolled for sharing a picture of his wife wearing a gown, posting picture of his daughter's birthday celebrations and celebrating Christmas.

Mohammed Shami manages to make it to the headlines for all wrong reasons every single time. Be it for sharing a picture of his wife with a gown and not ‘hijab’ or celebrating Christmas with his family or posting a picture with his family during his daughter’s birthday. The Twitterati pounces on him whenever they get an opportunity. This time, Shami was picked by the trollers for posting a Shivling picture on the New Year’s Eve. The message read, “As the new year renews all the happiness and good tidings, hope the joyful spirit keeps glowing in your heart forever! Happy New Year 2018 to you and family.” However, he later deleted the tweet. He then posted a video of the New Year celebrations in his locality.

Mohammad Kaif was recently picked up for welcoming the Triple Talaq verdict or for playing chess with his son. Irfan Pathan, too, has been amongst the other cricketers who is always targeted on social media.
