Moin Khan versus Rashid Latif

Moin was a truly awful keeper, Rashid was very good. Moin was a better bat, especially in pressure situations.

My favourite was Moin.

I think Rashid would have had a really good career if he didnt carry this persistent injury (i think it was his neck?).

Happy Birthday to Moin Khan

This was posted on 29/12/2009. Just days before the fateful Sydney test. :91:

To be fair, Kamran had an excellent 2009. He was Pakistan’s top scorer in all three formats and had a very good run with the gloves. Unfortunately, the Sydney Test was the beginning of the end for him.

On topic: Moin was an average keeper and a decent batsman. Latif was an excellent keeper and an average batsman.

Rizwan has surpassed both of them by some distance, which says less about how good Rizwan has been and how poor Pakistan’s legacy is in terms of producing top quality wicket-keeper batsmen.

Moin Khan for a long while was one of the best keeper batsmen out there.

Right before the 1999 World Cup the keepers were

Healy
Mongia/Karim
Andy Flower
Richardson
Alec Stewart
Ridley Jacobs
Kalu

I would say between 1992 -96 you could make an argument that Moin was the best around for a batter keeper before that role was taken seriously by all nations. Heck India didn’t have a wK batsman before dhoni.

Moin is a cheeky street fighter cricketer...Latif can make acrobatic catches look easy...both were close in terms of potential and rightfully they had see-saw career

Moin was a terrible WK, easily the worst along Anil Dalphat that has played for PK in my time. Rashid was an excellent WK to fast bowlers but was very average keeping to spinners. Moin was a man for a batting crisis, Rashid started off as a good batsman but as the years went on, he was fairly average

Rashid Tests

Won 4 Loss 1 Draw 1

Rashid Odis

Wins 13 Losses 12 52.00%

Moin Tests

Wins 4 Losses 2 Draws 7

Moin ODIs

Wins 20 Losses 14 58.82%

We had Farokh Engineer in the 70s, a swashbuckling keeper batsman.

Rashid any day

No amount of runs can make up for dropped chancss and sloppy keeping

In that respect rashid was several tiers higher than moin

Street-fighter to the core but his 'keeping skills, were they better than those of Rashid Latif?

Moin Khan was a better batsman and Rashif Latif was a better wicket-keeper.

Both useless batsmen. Wont have made the side if they were playing today

However, Rashid Latif record as a keeper is much superior

both sucked.

but Azam Khan prefers Rashid Latif

In terms of skills my choice is Rashid Latif. He was one of the best wicket keeper which cricket has ever witnessed

In the 90s this was the most discussed topic.

For me when it comes to batting i think Moin Khan was superior but Rashid had better keeping skills.

What a healthy competition it was, now look what we have after rizwan.. Mighty Muhammad Harris!
