He is 17 thousand runs behind Sachin.

Do you think he will reach 35000 runs in all formats combined by the time he finishes his career.

Couple of series will see him go Past Amla, Waugh, Gayle , ABD and Inzi and reach the top 10 all time scorers list.
Interesting thing to see is all batsman in this list played their cricket in 90s and 2000s and 2010s

Only if he plays till the age of 38.
Plays atleast 35-40 innings every year and scores average 50+ each innings.

Very difficult. As we know consistency drops when a player gets older and injuries and workload takes its toll on the body.

Statistically speaking, if he scores at the same rate as he has so far it will take him 729 innings to complete. That means 350 more innings from today. He has played roughly 34 innings per year in his almost 11 years career so far. At the same rate he needs to play another 10 years to get there. He is almost 30 yrs old right now.

Form, fitness and his goals will determine if and when he gets there or not. If I had to put my money on it, I would say NO.

The point is, in my opinion, SRT does not get sufficient credit for his endevours. Even Players like Kohli will have difficult task to come close to it let alone other players. Wow.

Is that humanely possible?

A few years ago , I thought it would be impossible for a batsman to score 10000 ODI runs at an average of 50+. Kohli looks likely to do it at an average of almost 60.

Seeing the amount of drive Kohli has, I would say I do see him going past Tendulkar's tally in the next decade. He seems to be a fitness freak so the likely hood of him having a prolonged injury is slim...

I have to admit, despite the fact that I don't like him, Kohli probably is the best batsman in the world and has been since Smith was banned for ball tampering.

Precisely. I've seen some dumb posts on PP but the dumbest of all has been the multiple posts I've seen which goes something like this.

"Anybody can make 35k runs/100 centuries if they play 200 matches".

No. They can't and they won't. Because nobody can play for that long, let alone with that level of consistency.

Sachin's 34k record will never be broken.

He will certainly do better than most of his contemporaries on runs aggregate internationally. His contemporaries being in Australia, England only. Since all other countries won’t be playing as many tests.

Amazing. He isn't even 30. Another 4 or 4 years of this and surely he will finish as the greatest batsmen to ever hold a bat.

The most irrelevant record I have ever come across. Combining of all format runs/wickets started with Sachin's 100th ton and then runs & wickets also started to crop up.

This data doesn't give us any info we don't already know.

It is not irrelevant record its important record.

Kohli is just something else ain't he. The guy is not even 30 yet. Got to be some sort of a run machine sent back in time to terminate all the Rubel Hossains of this world.

Already at #5 in the list for Most Intl 100s and 6 away from being in the top 3 ...

thats an incredible achievement already !!

He will definitely top the list of most hundreds, but I think he will end up with around 30k runs.

Assuming that he will play till 37-38, Scoring nearly 17k runs, which is roughly 1,900 runs/year, will be very difficult to achieve, especially when he is likely to have diminish returns in his last couple of years before retirement like all other players.

However, if anyone is capable, he is. He is at the peak of his powers right now and should maximize the next 3-4 years as much as he can.

Watch kohli score 1.4k plus runs these next 3-4 years. He’ll be on a solid 15k runs in odi format by 33-34. With an average close or over to 60

The man reminds me so much of the aggressive Sachin till 2002/03. Anything less than a century from Dynamite Kohli is almost like a disappointment for me personally. And when he reaches a century, I want him to go past 150. Anything less than 150 after that disappoints me a little :))

I never, ever imagined in my wildest dreams during Sachin's days that any Indian batsman after his retirement will be able to capture my imagination like he did. It's almost like a dream come true. We Indians are so, so fortunate that first we had Sunny from 1971 till 1987, then we had Sachin from 1989 till 2013, and now we have Kohli.

It's the same with me in regards to Kohli that I used to have with Sachin. I used to not move from in front of my TV when Sachin was batting. Now it's hard for me to move from in front of the TV when Kohli is batting. Although I'll be honest, watching Sachin was an ever greater joy than the current fabulous Kohli.

His attitude and peak both pretty much resembles Ponting. Will be interested to see how long it can continue.
