"My reaction to Watson’s inappropriate abusive comments was avoidable" : Imam-ul-Haq [Post#113]

There is a reason why Watson used to be called names his days. Now he is a mature fella and all the sympathy is being flowered to him - such a touchy-feely response from some people.

I am not defending Imam but he is young and more prone to do this immature stuff (assuming if he even started it). People need to get off their high horse before blaming a person without knowing facts. This is coming from a person who does not agree with Imam's selection in the PCT.

Imam is basically implying that what he did was justifiable under the circumstances (Watto being abusive) and somehow is making it seem as if the apology elevates his morality in the entire incident. This was a very standard two card trick that people, who have no substance, try to employ whenever they're caught between a rock and hard place.

You don't get to take the moral high ground by reprising the actions of which you are blaming your aggressor. Either walk the talk by carrying off the snobby persona that you're comtemplating on the field or just don't do it to begin with. A person is either meek internally and a massive pretender (which Imam has shown to be here) or completely at home with the actions that he does on the field (Watto) - It is pretty self evident on who is which in this case.

Lastly, Imam should be the last person to engage in such as, AND THIS IS THE TRUTH, without his Uncle he would be nowhere right now. Every human action takes about 7 years to reap its result and I am 100% sure we'll feel the second coming of Imran Farhat when that 7 year mark will be nearing its course - Because Hey! We never learn do we??!!!!

Watson has been known to have a bit of keera in him, when the opposition is batting. Has happened quite a bit now.

Imam should have been smarter than this, but I don't mind hin ripping into Watson like this. A non-issue really. People here have an issue with Pakistan players being soft or they have an issue with them being brash.

Lol @ at the posters calling out Imam because Watson 'deserves respect' as he is a 'guest' in Pakistan :))) This is one of the most ridiculous line of arguments ever! Respect and gratitude are left outside those boundary ropes. When you step on the field, you're fierce competitors!

Those asking for an apology have either recently started watching Pakistan cricket and are used to the meek and sissy behavior of the players or are themselves quite submissive.

What Imam did was in the heat of the moment and the fact that he confirmed it was responsive action, it is perfectly justified.

Lastly, he's had a solid tournament and anyone bringing his numbers into the argument is just clutching at straws.

Shan Masood played the short ball well in South Africa. He's probably one of our best against short bowling currently.

Yes he is pretty good from what I've seen, Babar Azam is decent as well. Imam's uncle, the legendary Inzi was fantastic against the bouncer for such a big and heavy guy. He should give nephew some tips.

good post. Imam's apology is pathetic. He is turning out to be a person with very little substance

People need to grow up, foreign players get paid for playing in PSL and not for some vip treatment in the field.

Imran Farhat had a good start when he formed good opening partnerships with Taufeeq in tests and Yasir in ODIs. He went downhill from there. Imam has only improved since his debut. There is no reason to compare him with Farhat. Imam first proved everyone wrong who were against his selection in the ODIs and then he did it again in T20s.

Oh god who cares ?! Why three pages on this ?

In a sport with red blooded men and so many emotions flowing through your head - people will lose their cool from time to time.

It happens, get over it.

Imam was the guy that got caught on camera regardless of his claim, he should apologize instead of acting like a spoilt ****

Plus this act, and him *silencing the crowd* with his finger after getting a match losing century, as well his cringeworthy quote about replying an Indian reporter before Asia cup. I don't really like the guy alot. His attitude reeks of arrogance and self entitlement.

Watson is a nobody. Stop pretending that he's some legend of the game who is bringing in millions of viewers to the PSL all by himself. The guy was dropped by Australia three or four years ago.

Someone like ABD deserves a bit more respect and protocol compared to the average player but Watson? Please.

he was never likable but he is not a 'nobody', problem with Imam ul Haq is he looked like an idiot with the sendoff, and sendoff is always in poor taste its not sledging and Imam ul Haq so far is not likable as a player or person. He maybe scoring runs but he will be figured out soon and have a bad patch and will be given a over extended run because he is a ****** and the problem with his batting is he has hardly played any match winning innings, cannot close out games like all of our other batsmen and and is not pretty to watch.

Caught on camera? :))) Caught doing what? Sending off a player? Oh, how could he?! :broad

Yes. To be precise. Haris Rauf received a 10% match fee for the same offence in the same tournament. So this a reproachable offence and we know why he was let off the hook

You are making Amir Sohail sound like Ponting. He was a decent opener who had his moments, but he was largely carried by his vastly superior partner (Saeed Anwar).

Nevertheless, someone with only 10 hundreds in his entire career is not a standard that someone like Imam should aspire to reach, and neither is the ability to hit fast bowlers for a six a qualification for showing aggression on the field.

The arbitrary stipulations to justify send-offs are quite funny though. From he hasn't achieved anything yet to he can't hook pacers to the stands. Let's cut to the case and admit that we were not happy with what he did because we don't like him.

His own uncle has only 11

Watson has better stats than Afridi #legendofthegame

Okay, so ask for the same treatment i.e. Getting fined. Saying that should he should apologize is plain dumb

Seems Watson not a stranger to confrontation - now in IPL vs Rabada
