Imam-ul-Haq (132*) stars for Pakistan as they reach 245/1 at Stumps on Day 1 of the 1st Test

This wicket seems much flatter compared to the Pindi wicket against SA.
 
Green on now, pakistan need to be careful not to gift wickets here.

Azhar rejecting a simple single now. Imam ran halfway, stuttered twice and still comfortably made it back to his crease. :))

That single denied by Azhar shows he's the most timid cricketer playing the game. He could have completed the run walking to the other end.And that too after 80 odd games.
 
Imam deserves a hundred here. Flat pitch or not facing this Aussie attack is no joke.

its a bit rich coming from a region tht opens with 45deg spinners and thts tht....
 
a bold decision would have been to drop Azhar and have Shaan at 3 ...

would have prefered to see Shaan open and saud play in place of Azhr
 
Why aren’t they showing greens speed on the speed gun he looks no where close to 140 as the commies keep saying
 
Azhar will stay another 3-4 years. Our players don't have any pride to retire gracefully and occupy spot using all sorts of politics.
 
Azhar needs to be careful pushing at this shortballs away from his body.

He was hardly 135 in Ashes. I was surprised when commies referred to him as 90 mile bowler. He gets good bounce coz of his height other than that he’s an ordinary bowler. He might turn out to be a better batter as his career progresses..

There was no point play ifthikar we were better utilising another pacer , I reckon mir hamza would have been a good option to open the bowling with shaheen and naseem as the 3rd.

Problem for Pakistan is the 5th bowler. Ifti is a terrible pick. Should have gone for genuine bowler and far better batsman in Shadab. Or chosen Wasim Jnr. The two spinners are not good enough and need support.
 
The difference between the Indian pitch and thos Pakistani pitch is on display. While similar in most respects and especially so in terms of bounce, the Indian pitch is quicker and the game is moving along quickly but also all dismissals being either lbw/bowled. This Rawalpindo wicket is actually slow and requires attritional cricket.
 
I get that he wants his first 100 but he scored 90 runs playing positively
 
imam putting himself under unnecessary pressure here can see him doing something silly hope not been a good knock
 
Brilliant century full house in pak vs australia, cant get any better than that, well done to him, plenty of time left he need to apply himself and make it big century
 
This personal wins where batsmen slow down unnecessarily near to this century is the most pathetic and unpleasing feeling for me. Are you playing for a team or a for yourself only.
 
Congrats to Imam.. Great talent and gets undue criticism due to relationship with Inzi.
He is Technically solid.. and can add few more chinks to his game and improve more.
Not a T20 player though..

calm down , theres still 4 full days left in the game, its all part of the test, player makes a century it only benefits the team regardless of personal benefit too
 
So can someone give credit to the selectors for playing imam in this test match ?

In the morning there was so much criticism directed towards imam, some were calling him parchi, others were saying He did not deserve to be here.

Shan masood played good in psl but imam is the real deal. Selectors have so far got the team combination and pitch absolutely spot on.

No. Its about your mental attitude. it does not feel right. I have never seen anything like this from australian batters.
 
Disappointing that Pakistan can not score 350 on the first day, considering it’s one of the flattest pitches to be seen.

Warner will hopefully show it is done

you clearly haven't seen enough cricket then, it happens all the time with all teams from club to international, ever heard of the phrase "nervous nineties"

Being nervous is a separate thing and being unnecessarily becoming selfish for your personal milestone is a different thing.

its a cause and effect relationship, you reach 90s you become nervous you slow down , pakistan players getting criticized now for scoring centuries, some fans will never be happy :))
 
Brilliant atmosphere here. Tour will proceed unless there is an incident in Islamabad. India has been going all out but the security to get to the stadium was brilliant and quite foolproof.

if they win, nobody will ask them their personal stats. because in the end win/loss matters not your personal milestones
 
250-1 would be a joke score at the end of day 1.

Keeping in mind they are batting on concrete.
