Imam-ul-Haq (132*) stars for Pakistan as they reach 245/1 at Stumps on Day 1 of the 1st Test

Cummins looks threatening (as usual). Rushing the batsmen and also getting enough movement and bounce.
 
These two take it to 50 and they would have done their job. Anything more is a bonus.
 
Lyon looks good, it’ll be interesting to see how much spin Smith/Marnus get.

Bowling to Australia with a 300+ lead on day 4/5 will be what pakistan is hoping for. Sajid & Nauman will be happy with the amount of turn and bounce Lyon is getting.

Exactly! I have literally been annoyed by scoring rate whiners! It's a world-class attack bowling on a fresh wicket. At-least give some credit to the openers for not losing their wickets and blunting the quickies! It's not as if we are running out of time on 4th day to set up a target!
 
What the hell is this guy Imam? Not only that he's not scoring... He looks so poor while batting.. No class shot or proper batting technique... Just jumping and moving and nicking and missing here and there... Poor opener... Next tour is in South Africa... We should prepare Shan right from now bcz imam would look joker on SA's pitches who is not able to block comfortably here in pindi on phatta

The pitch might settle down come second session and we might see spinner struggling to get the grip from the pitch.

Would be the most Pakistan thing ever to make a bowler out of him. Still have nightmares of us making a nothing cricketer like Marcus North look like peak Murali.
 
Impressed with AS thus far. He's been brave. Even though he struggled against Lyon a little, wasn't afraid to take him on either. Looks nice and compact too
 
After 100 overs you should be at least on 300 if not 350 anything under isn’t good enough on a decent batting wicket.
 
It's the first hour of the first day, relax. The openers have played very well thus far.
 
Good positive start with the bat, just hope all are batsmen play like this and Azhar Ali doesnt suck the life out off inns with his negative batting later.

Innings has somewhat stabilized now, so credit where due.

I hope imam builds confidence from here and plays a solidly.

Pitch has some turn already, so they'll want to bat big. Looks like a 300+ pitch first innings but Oz attack are good.

Some selections I'm surprised by- what is Iftikar Ahmed for? Bits n pieces? Why not play Shadab who at least is younger & more talent imo. Already have a (better) off spinner in Sajid Khan.

And Imam Ul Haq hasn't played a Test in 3 years, but he is suddenly back in? What happened there?

Shadab should have played in place of Nauman. He was so bad in Bangladesh.

And Mohammad Waseem in place of Ifti

Can't blame him- test match opening 101 is to survive the first hour, set it up for your team, then expand when it's easier. He ticked the first boxes and now is starting to expand.
 
Hafeez and imam put on an opening stand of 205 in 63 overs in 1st test in UAE in 2018. So we get same from openers today il be happy :)

Imam comes in the XI on merit cause he has been traveling with the team as a 3rd opener for a few series now. Shan should've never been dropped like that though.

If they were going to play Iftikhar ahead of Saud for his spin than I would've played Wasim JR in place of Nauman Ali.

Pitch looks good overall. Although it might turn a lot on Day 4 and 5.

Aussies had spin at both ends by the 17th over of the first morning, yet selected one frontline spinner. Bizarre.
 
Excellent stuff from imam, seems more postive in this inns then previous test inns.

As weather forecast is not 100% reliable, yesterday someone was saying that today will be half washout, but it is sunny weather.

44 runs in last 10 overs, excellent stuff. nothing in pitch for seamers so far.

Just a few drama queens. As things stand Monday morning session might be in doubt. Other than that forecast is good.
 
Of course they would make the pitch to negate the fast bowlers whether the bowlers can take 20 wickets remains to be seen.

Good to see Imam taking his chance. Proper opener with a long career, and was unfairly discarded from the ODI team.

Test cricket is in Pakistan generally boring as pitch were mostly flat. i remembed india once 410-0 lol
 
This track is not the best for Pace bowlers but Australia haven’t done themselves any favours with 4 seamers in the side

Reason it was spinning may have been dampness from yesterday's rain. Its playing like a road right now
