Najam Sethi proposes to rename Gaddafi Stadium in honour of Abdul Sattar Edhi

Should name it after the driver who died saving the Sri Lankan team and officials.

This. The single most underrated man in modern cricket. If not for him, both the Sri Lanka and Pakistan cricket futures would have been very, very different

Name the stadium after a person who

1-Is from Lahore
2-Won the cricket world cup
3- The best cricketer produced by Asia
4-Is the prime minister of the country
5-Won many matches for Pakistan---------at this very stadium.

Oh bhai he didn’t die. He is still alive and his name is Mehar Muhammad Khalil. I think he again drove Sri Lanka (2017) team bus from hotel to the stadium. Jeetay jaagte admi ko mar diya

Well if he’s alive then all the better. It’s about time we start honouring the living.

So it was built by the money of Gaddafi and now people want to change it because he is not around. How ungrateful people can be? Just let it be!!!!

If u want a stadium tl be named after edhi than there is national stadium karachi air pindi stadium.

Edhi was from karachi.

Gaddafi stadium has already got its own name. Why change it?

As someone who lived in Libya for a while, I can confirm that many Libyans hated Gaddafi and there is no doubt that he suppressed his opponents ruthlessly. In Green Square student protesters were hanged in front of their parents. At the same time it is true that he was a strong supporter of Pakistan and stood up for Muslims. The Americans always hated him ever since he kicked out the American airforce base known as Wheelus base. When all is said and done it probably makes sense to change the name. Much as Edhi is one of the great Pakistanis, I think something connected with Lahore and or cricket makes more sense--Allama Iqbal, Fazal Mahmood, Imran Khan would get my vote.

Abdul Hafeez Kardar or Fazal Mahmood stadium

These people were the ones that got the Pakistan cricket going, youngsters need to remember them through this.

Who cares about Gaddafi? He is irrelevant and forgotten in Pakistan

Kardar would also be a good choice.

If Germans had the Pakistani mentality of leave it. We’d still have land marks named after Hitler.

I think you and a lot of other posters are seriously downplaying the importance of what Gaddafi said. It is right in front of the world how in this day and age, Pakistan is constantly the target of worldwide media and powerful nations and India for our possession of nuclear weapons and nuclear program in general. If it is like this now, imagine what it would have been in the 70's.

The significance of his statement as a powerful military dictator is unparalleled.

And let me remind you, had Pakistan not acquired Nuclear technology, Pakistan as a nation would have ceased to exist. Kudos to Gaddafi.
