Nawaz Sharif in London due to illness - Discussion Thread

Court can't do anything. This is a legal way to deal with it and Govt has followed a legal route. Even one of the famous lawyer (forgetting his name) said before 2,3 days that according to rules Govt will ask NS to provide a Surety Bond and he also said that i have conveyed my message to Nawaz as well.

Same thing was done in 2000 as well. So i hope Court will not change it's own law.

But with Sharifs........... You never know.

They will TRY find a way. This is the best thing to happen to PK for a long time. The LHC and IHC are disgustingly corrupt and they will find a way, if they dont, their paymasters will blackmail them like with Judge Malik. The Corrupt Nooras and the Corrupt Judges are cornered, lets see how this goes.

the medical misinformation posted on this thread and in general quoted by the media is SHOCKING. ITP is a self-limited diagnosis, meaning in most cases, it resolves on its own. If not, it is treated with steroids. Nobody just suddenly dies with platelet counts of 25,000-30,000. Now they are saying they have to be higher than 150,000 for him to not be critical?? That makes no sense whatsoever.

And you are suggesting automatic bone marrow in any patient with low platelets? Dude, bone marrow is not a joke of a test that you just order on anyone. Main reason to do a bone marrow would be to rule out leukemia or other blood disorders in which you cannot give steroids because it can make it worse. But those don't just present with isolated low platelets.

Very sad to see how much misinformation is being thrown around. Just last week I treated kids with platelet counts of around 30,000. Totally fine, running around the room, no issues. Sent home with repeat labs in 1 week. Yet in Pakistan we are acting like platelet count of 30,000 means automatic bone marrow biopsy and needing to be transferred out of the country. Absolute joke

If a doctor can't differentiate between ITP and Pancytopenia with CBC then this become a cause of concern about that doctor.

I am confused by the Noora narrative. Apparently NS doesn't want to go abroad and IK is desperate for him to go but IK is putting hurdles in the way of him leaving, which makes IK a bad person but according to Nooras NS doesn't want to leave anyway. Does this make any sense to anyone other than thick Nooras?

But IK is a puppet and can't give any NRO but IK is also putting hurdles and not helping his masters who want to give NRO so the puppet is more thn a puppet.

Let's see the legal gymnastics from their crooked friends in the LHC. I bet they are already meeting in Jati Umra to try to get the wording right in the judgement.

Shahbaz should take his brother to this azeem state of the art hospital he created in Punjab with all the best machinery from the world. Listen from the many himself about the greatness of this hospital!

The media is mostly supporting PMLN narrative that "no politics should be played on Sharif's health".

When PTI initially indicated that Nawaz Sharif can travel abroad, most PMLN supporters and anchors celebrated this as POLITICAL win since Imran Khan had always refused any deals or NROs. Shahbaz Sharif's son and daughter in law posted pictures saying "Shahbaz Sharif is a game changer", Imran Khan you were refusing us even Air conditioners and look how we have managed to take Nawaz out. ''"100 % POLITICS from PMLN"".

PTI government then added condition of "Bond" to ensure Sharif comes back AFTER his treatment is complete. This again is politics but very much justified since 5 Sharif family members are absconders currently.

PMLN government is now playing politics yet again that they will NOT let PTI claim political victory by committing to "bond" but what it means is Sharif's health can take a back seat while PMLN is playing politics.

This is jokes 😂😂

These guys are not going to be able to bribe the judges like the Sharifs, and bar the odd one that will be given bail to show that Sharifs were treated as any on other crooks, the wil rot.

Let’s get real. Imran is either worried that he ends up dead in jail and hence the $12b drama, or he has received orders from his superiors who don’t want to put all their eggs in PTI’s basket.

Either way, it doesn’t paint a pretty picture for Imran and PTI. If you think Nawaz was going to rot in jail forever, you were setting yourself for disappointment. This is a reality-check for PTI supporters.

Imran cannot fool the masses forever. He couldn’t even keep Nawaz behind the bars.

Your political commentary is a joke. Flip flop almost.

First you say Imran is powerless, and a puppet of the Army. And that the Army is all powerful. In the next breath, to suit your agenda, you say its his failure that NS has been released. Surely if your first point was true, NS would still be behind bars?

Stick to discussing kabadi.

BTW
Does anyone know what time today the LHC will find a way for the duffer to leave the country without a surety bond?

This is 'once-in-life' moment for Shehbaz Sharif. He will turn every stone to get MNS out of Pakistan and then make sure he doesn't come back in near future, a move that will paint Govt as incompetent and will also give SS more control over PMLn. Reason why MNS is not willing to go abroad yet is that he is reluctant to go without Maryam Nawaz.

Next step : Agree for bond but will apply for same options in case of Maryam Nawaz.

Govt agrees to hold debate on controversial bills, opposition to withdraw no-trust motion

National Assembly was full of surprises on Friday as the opposition agreed to withdraw a no-confidence motion against Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri while the government agreed to hold a debate on the ordinances that were previously bulldozed through the parliament.

PML-N stalwart Khawaja Asif — who had yesterday accused the government of "playing with Nawaz Sharif's life" — said today that the opposition will withdraw the no-confidence motion that was submitted by the opposition against Suri last week. The motion was submitted after Suri refused to listen to opposition parties' protest as the government passed 11 ordinances without holding a debate.

Asif, while speaking in the assembly today, said that it had been agreed that the controversial bills will be withdrawn and sent back to parliamentary committees.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Swati said that the bills that were passed and ordinances tabled in the assembly on November 7 will be presented in the parliament again for debate and a consensus will be developed. He added that a debate will be held on the controversial ordinance, which dissolved the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and paved the way for the establishment of Pakistan Medial Commission.

Swati told the House that the government and opposition had agreed that Letters of Administration and Succession Certificates Ordinance, 2019, Enforcement of Women's Property Rights Ordinance, 2019, Legal Aid and Justice Authority Ordinance, 2019, Superior Courts (Court Dress and Mode of Address) Ordinance, 2019, will be withdrawn and passed on the day of withdrawal, APP reported.

Benami Transaction (Prohibition) (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and The National Accountability (Amendment) Bill, 2019 will be sent back to the relevant committees, he added.

Defence Minister Pervez Khattak said the government had "decided to improve the assembly's atmosphere".

Ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MNA Asad Umar lauded opposition's decision to withdraw the no-trust motion against Suri and said: "All of us have come here (in the assembly) from the public's vote and we should focus on solving the people's problems."

He added: "Legislation done by committees is more effective. After five years, people will say that Speaker Asad Qaiser strengthened this House."

Meanwhile, MQM lawmaker Aminul Haq urged the government to allow former premier Nawaz to leave the country for medical treatment. Grand Democratic Alliance's Ghous Bux Khan Mahar seconded Haq's demand and said that the government "should not do politics over Nawaz Sharif's health".

He further said that the government's condition for Nawaz to submit an indemnity bond in order to leave was "ridiculous".

The Lahore High Court (LHC) is hearing a petition challenging the government's condition of furnishing indemnity bonds in order to secure the removal of ailing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's name from the Exit Control List (ECL).

At the outset of the hearing, the court asked if the federal government had submitted its written reply, to which the government's lawyer, Additional Attorney General (AAG) Chaudhry Ishtiaq A Khan, responded in the affirmative.

The court asked that a copy of the response be given to the petitioner's lawyer and told them that if they needed, they could take time to read the government's response.

Following this, the proceedings were briefly adjourned.

In its 45-page reply, the federal government opposed the request seeking unconditional permission for Nawaz to travel abroad, saying the LHC does not have the jurisdiction to hear the petition.

Cases against Nawaz are being heard in various courts of the country, the government said, adding that it has allowed the former prime minister to travel abroad for four weeks.

According to the government response, Nawaz's name was added to the ECL based on the National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) recommendation.

The government pleaded to the court to reject the petition as non-maintainable.

Following the recess, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif's counsel Amjad Pervez argued that the LHC has the authority to hear the petition.

He said that several past court judgements support their stance, and presented copies of court orders to support his argument for Nawaz's name to be taken off the ECL unconditionally.

Ahead of the hearing, strict security arrangements were made. PML-N's legal team, as well as party leaders including Ahsan Iqbal, arrived in court for the proceedings.

A two-member bench of the court comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem had taken up the petition on Thursday evening, the same day that a PML-N legal team submitted it. The court had issued notices to the federal government and NAB to submit a written reply by today.

'Dirty politics'
Addressing a press conference yesterday, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif had rejected the government's conditional decision to allow Nawaz to travel abroad for medical treatment, accusing the government of playing "dirty politics" on the former prime minister's health.

Shehbaz, during the presser, announced that the party's legal team had approached the LHC against the decision.

He said the government, by asking the PML-N to submit indemnity bonds to secure permission for Nawaz to travel abroad was, in fact, demanding "ransom" and the decision was not acceptable to the PML-N under any circumstances.

On Wednesday, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government, after much deliberation, had granted a one-time permission to Nawaz for four weeks to travel abroad for his treatment provided he submitted indemnity bonds worth over Rs7.5 billion.

The former prime minister had been rushed from Kot Lakhpat jail to the hospital last month after his personal physician Dr Adnan Khan raised an alarm over his deteriorating health. Following this, Shehbaz had submitted a request to the interior ministry as well as NAB for the removal of Nawaz's name from the ECL so that the former prime minister could travel abroad for medical treatment.

Nawaz, who was incarcerated after an accountability court found him guilty in the Al Azizia corruption reference, was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court on humanitarian grounds. He also obtained bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, in which he is a suspect, from the LHC.

Meanwhile, in a statement, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb, said on Friday that the Sharif medical board held a meeting. She said that doctors cautioned that if there was a further delay regarding Nawaz's health, it could prove to be deadly.

Thursday's court proceedings
A PML-N legal team led by Advocate Amjad Pervez filed the petition in the court as an urgent matter at around 3:15pm on Thursday with a request to condone the delay and fix it for a same-day hearing. Additional Attorney General (AAG) Chaudhry Ishtiaq A Khan and NAB’s special prosecutor Naeem Tariq Sanghera had appeared before the court as the petition was taken up around 4:30pm.

Advocate Pervez argued that the government’s condition of furnishing indemnity bonds to remove the name of the petitioner from the ECL was not based on any provision of the law. He said the condition had no legal standing since the petitioner had already been granted bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case by the LHC and his sentence in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference had been suspended by the IHC.

AAG Khan sought time to verify from the record when asked whether the impugned order of the government for indemnity bonds was a result of any consensus and whether the petitioner was placed on the ECL on the recommendations of Lahore or Islamabad office of NAB.

The law officer also sought time to file parawise comments on the petition, which the bench duly allowed. The bench asked the law officer to assist it in a legal point on whether the government had the power to put any condition for removing the name from the ECL if there was a court order.

This is my analysis, albeit with bias. But History of Sharif demands bias against them.

Time corrects everything. In human history, No one has been able to outsmart Time. I will rely on time. Already hearing has been postponed till Monday, a lot of time and a lot of water will pass under bridges till then.

Should there not be any accountability for these patwari judges? What the heck is the CJ doing?

Should there not be any accountability for these patwari judges? What the heck is the CJ doing?

Let's see what happens. LHC won't go against the Laws, even their own decision. But if they do so, then it will raise 1000s more questions about credibility of LHC.

finally a good decision by PTI to ask for a bond in case Nawaz Sharif does not return.

Pretty sure it was not Imran Khan's idea; he was ready to send Nawaz Sharif abroad without any conditions.

But there are still some old PTI guys who have the original vision of justice, and who realized that sending Nawaz Sharif abroad without any conditions will be considered an NRO and it will be the biggest deceit to their voters and will be a political suicide, and thus they pushed for this bond condition and force Imran Khan to accept it.

Now if LHC gives verdict in favour of PML-N then it will be a big setback to PTI and PML-N's viewpoint that "PTI was playing politics on health of Nawaz Sharif" will become mainstream in Pakistani public. Lets see.

Why would Imran Khan send NS abroad without any conditions? He was stuck in between rock and a hard place. If he didn't let NS go and something happened to NS, PML N would gain emotional sympathy, if he let NS without any conditions, he would be accussed of compromising on his biggest promise i.e. accountability of the corrupt, looted wealth. By imposing these conditions, he has proven that he was not in favor of sending NS but is also not going to inhumanely endanger his health, the ball is now in the Sharif family court.

If the High Courts rule in favor of the Sharif's, i would want IK to take this up in the Supreme Court

After watching Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi's recent interview with Nadeem Malik, its clear what "establishment" wants from IK and that they are clearly upset on not getting what they have asked for, i.e. get Nawaz out of the country ASAP.

However, regardless of what establishments wants and what politics demands of IK, I think it would be wiser to just let NS go, without any conditions. If PML-N wants to score political points then let them as other then hardcore PML-N fan boys, no one else will be buying into it. IK will emerge as gracious leader who acted with dignity and compassion and had mercy on his sworn enemy. Instead, with the current actions IK is coming across as a petty and vindictive person, who only cares about his party base and hardcore supporters.

I hope better sense prevails for the sake of the country.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) will on Saturday hear a petition challenging the government's condition of furnishing indemnity bonds in order to secure the removal of ailing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's name from the Exit Control List (ECL).

The high court had yesterday declared the petition as maintainable after hearing the arguments of PML-N's legal team and the government — which has been named as respondent along with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The case was heard by a two-judge bench comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem.

The government, represented by Additional Attorney General (AAG) Chaudhry Ishtiaq A. Khan, had argued that the petition was not within the jurisdiction of the LHC. The argument was rejected by the bench, which relied upon superior courts’ judgements cited by PML-N's legal team and observed that the petition was maintainable before the LHC.

"The arguments advanced by the learned additional attorney general that the conditions mentioned in the impugned memorandum are based upon the judgement pronounced by the accountability court, Islamabad, and challenged before the Islamabad High Court, therefore, this court lacks jurisdiction, has not impressed us," said the bench in its three-page short verdict.

On Wednesday, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government, after much deliberation, had granted a one-time permission to Nawaz for four weeks to travel abroad for his treatment provided he submitted indemnity bonds worth over Rs7.5 billion.

The condition was challenged in LHC by the PML-N legal team, on behalf of the former premier, on Thursday and was taken up by the two-member bench on the same day.

Nawaz, who was diagnosed with an immune system disorder, has been advised to go abroad for medical treatment. The name of the former premier — who is convicted in two corruption cases and is a suspect in another — was placed on the ECL.

The former prime minister was rushed from Kot Lakhpat jail to the hospital last month after his personal physician Dr Adnan Khan raised an alarm over his deteriorating health. Following this, Shehbaz Sharif had submitted a request to the interior ministry as well as NAB for the removal of Nawaz's name from the ECL so that the former prime minister could travel abroad for medical treatment.

Any updates when the law will be changed to allow a convict to go abroad?

Bewal Express LHC has done the damage multiple times

Media reports saying LHC has changed it's stance, in new draft which they have sent to boht parties. It says " 4 weeks are permitted for treatment, but it can be CHANGED if he don't get better with in mentioned time frame, Govt will be able to contact Nawaz through Embassy (I think not directly)"

Right now we dont know what about Surety bond.

Bewal Express LHC has done the damage multiple times

Let's see these crooks of LHC desperately find some "technicalities" to let a crook abroad. Nowhere in the world do find a serving prisoner be allowed to go abroad. I will be very disappointed if IK doesn't appeal the decision.

Only 4 lines are written in the draft and Court has given 15 minutes to both parties to study it.

Reports says Govt is going to reject this draft (Which they should). Because if they reject this draft, Court will postponed the hearing to next working day and more hearing will be done.

Court said " Both parties should solve this matter with better mutual understanding" LOL..

It seems like both parties are doing some kind of RISHTA and Court is the Rishta Aunty.

They arent going through laws.

I think as expected, Nawaz will go without any Surety.....

Just WOOOOW.

Even a school won't accept such thing.

Break is over, session is resumed. It seems Judges want to send Nawaz TODAY to London :)) They are working on OFF day and clock is ticking around 5 45 PM in Pak. But court is still working.

Its FINAL.

LHC has rejected Govt reservations and has allowed Nawaz Sharif to travel abroad without any SURETY.

Justice Baqir " An undertaking is coming to the court, is it not enough for Govt"
Some body should tell this ***** that same undertaking was given by SS in 2000 as well.

So who is the laadla now? Next time someone paint IK as establishment ka laadla and Nawaz and PMLN as anti establishment should think twice.

So who is the laadla now? Next time someone paint IK as establishment ka laadla and Nawaz and PMLN as anti establishment should think twice.

What if Govt dont agree to remove his name from ECL? Or can this decision be challenged in SC?

Further info says which is very confusing. This order is INTERIM one :))

Final decision will be taken in January, proper hearing will be done in January.

Everything is a joke.

2 big defeats of PTI:
 1. The court has ordered government to let Nawaz Sharif go.
 2. There is no surety bond needed from Nawaz Sharif.

Now PML-N will propagate this decision as huge victory of Nawaz Sharif and huge defeat of Imran Khan.

Well, it's an interim order and Nawaz will have to come back after 4 weeks. In january further hearing will be done and final decision will be taken.

Shehbaz Sharif is himself on bail in corruption cases and court has taken his affidavit to approve removal of Big Brother :)))

LHC rocks.

Excellent decision by LHC.

Please elaborate? Why do you classify this as a good decision?

Are you also okay with any prisoner who is sick to go abroad for treatment or are you accepting that NS should he given preferential treatment?

LHC ke liyay ikhees toppon ki salaami. "Hum waqeel nahi judge kartay hain"

Agree with Mamoon, great decision, get them out of country one at a time, so government can continue to get on with moving country forward.

Establishment wants Nawaz to actually go abroad and Khan can't do a jack about it.

So Nawaz and PMLN are still on bed with Establishment and GHQ after all the vote ko izat do drama?

Disappointing.

There is no justice for the suffering of innocents.
