As the five-match men's T20I series shifts from Christchurch to Dunedin, all eyes remain on Pakistan's batting. Under new captain Salman Agha, Pakistan aimed for an aggressive, "high-risk" approach in the first T20I, but it backfired spectacularly. They slumped to their lowest total in the format, getting bowled out for just 91, which New Zealand chased down with ease in 10.1 overs.

With Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam dropped, and Saim Ayub still recovering from an ankle injury, Pakistan fielded a revamped top order. Hasan Nawaz made his debut, while Mohammad Haris returned to T20Is after nearly two years, opening the innings. Salman slotted in at No. 3, but the batting unit crumbled, with seven players failing to reach double figures. Khushdil Shah was the only one to offer resistance, scoring 32 off 30 balls. After such a dismal performance, how will Pakistan respond in the second match?

Despite missing several key players due to IPL commitments, New Zealand made a strong statement in the first game. Kyle Jamieson and Jacob Duffy dismantled Pakistan's batting, sharing seven wickets between them. Their dominance continued with the bat as Tim Seifert, Finn Allen, and Tim Robinson took apart Pakistan's bowling attack.

As New Zealand looks to extend their control over the series, they may continue to experiment with their squad. Jimmy Neesham, who hasn't played for New Zealand since June 2024, might have to wait for his opportunity.

The ladies match is ongoing

We should get a bit of a game today

Will likely be rained off.

The shorter the match, the greater chance of Pakistan winning as difference between two teams will be magnified in 20 over match.

As per cricbuzz, earlier match ( i guess ladies) on today was cancelled after 14.1 overs

Its clear after 4 pm.

So we might get an 8 over game if they really want to give it a go.

Not sure what will happen though.

lol we all know how these stop start rain games end they nearly always get abandoned they just give us a bit of hope here and there.

Now if pakistan lose the match then fans will say , rain has made conditions tough for batting. :kp

Alex: "Currently at the ground -- blue sky poking through, a bit of warmth from the sun, we could be in for some cricket here!"

From cricinfo.

Ish Sodhi: The ground is small so trying to bowl wider and away from the batter

Shadab: The ground is small will need to see where to bowl.

This explains their preparations for the match.

Nz has a halwa bowling lineup today.
Pak should give up playing cricket if they don't score atleast 150.

I think it makes sense going with seamer in a 15 over game. Spinners will be targeted on this ground.

Virtually no backlift, no down swing. Pretty late on the shot. Is he a proper batsman. or a pinch hitter?
