NZ's toss decision is interesting. May be the dew factor but there's added pressure chasing in a World Cup.

It's also 33°C out there so the fielders are subjected to the worst of the day's heat.

What's weird is that England also wanted to field
 
Sedate start from England...but they have enough fire power down the order to go big at the end....
 
After 6 overs, England is 35/0. Cautious but a good start for them.
 
Looks like a batting paradise out there.. let’s see how the spin goes on this pitch
 
Bat 1st in this WC is essential.

Heat and more spin and swing in 2nd innings make it simple.

Which is exactly why both captains wanted to chase. Not enough sample to know what par is. Easier to bat when you have a target.
 
Malan plays like Imam major part of his inning but can accelerate better later.

Great spell already from Henry and Santner has started well.

Root is going to be key here to play through as long as he can while Johnny and co hit around him.
 
Pakistan should bring in Spin early in Powerplay overs as pacers are more likely to be easier to target early on them slow bowlers.

Correct, won't mind starting with Nawaz along with Shaheen. Anyway we don't have any new ball specialist except Shaheen.

This pitch has made for interesting viewing sofar . Just enough in it for the bowlers to keep things balanced

Any bad ball or Overwatch bairstow has smacked, like he did with Boult. He's still striking > 100.

Bro give bowlers respect, batsmen can't just Bully every bowler especially if their bowling well especially when bairstow is still striking at 100.
 
Did we play Satner in warm up? How did we fair against him ? Ok trying to analyse the players in this game and see how we will fair against them . If Boult doesn’t run through you in his opening spell and if Southee is injured (probably will be playing by the time we play NZ) we might have a shout .

With regards to England their batting is beast just too good. But if you play off Wood (who might not be as effective due to slow pitches ) and play Rashid well then we might not lose as bad lol

Because, as per many pundits, the England team plays aggressive cricket regardless of the conditions, unlike some Asian players who often adopt a more anchor role. What happened in the powerplay, especially with Bazball approach?
 
Santner has been brilliant, as he so often is!

There are a lot of 2nd string bowlers to come, no idea why Johnny was wanting to go hard so quick.

Well he wasn't bazzballing, but what a weird shot from bairstow, he quite literally threw his wicket away. Reminded me of an umar akmal type shot lol.

Uncanny from him cause I've never seen bairstow do something like this before.
 
Actually you should credit the wicket to Santners variations . He pulled that delivery back a little bit , which is why the scoop went to long off instead of cover where Bairstow intended
 
Slow pitches may hurt England ??? You need some nice wrist play on these pitches to find the gaps . India will dominate. Brook to depart quick is my guess !
 
Man new zealand looks like nothing team and still they are picking wickets against giant england remarkable.
 
If this is the pitch for india vs pak it will suit pak pak plays well on pitches which are not high scoring.
 
Despite having poor record in IPL, Brook is another youngster to watch out in this WC.

And for all those saying NZ is a nothing team, Henry is bowling better then any team in the tournament so far(Warmups included) Besides stark.

And satner has looked like a top quality spinner. That quicker one straight is hard to play.
 
Shaheen needs to learn from Boults spell. If it’s not swinging he needs to realise the magic balls will not come, he has more pace than Boult so he should stick to back of a length, angle away from the batsman. If the batsman are being aggressive then introduce slower balls

Yes but when Henry was bowling in Pakistan posters were claiming he is B or C team bowler. I always rated him though.

I think Curran will cause more problems . I’ve got a feeling Wood if he’s not accurate hel go for runs, bouncing batsman out might not be an option on these slow pitches. However with his pace and back of a length will cause problems but if he’s off line hel go for runs

Should ICC investigate this, if was an Asian player doing it, there would be the usual cries of hokery pokery ;)
