New Zealand [300/5] defeat India [296/7] to win 3rd ODI by 5 wkts & whitewash India by a 3-0 margin

Shaw and Gill are future of Indian and there is no doubt about that. They have a lot of talent but all will depend upon how they handle the pressure of international cricket and crunch moments.

Gill is a better perecentage cricketer. But Shaw is mentally stronger.

Off topic but Indian U19 captain looked awful. I don't see him playing for India ever.

There is a huge gap between his bat and pad and that was visible even during the U19 WC 2018. He has not worked on that. He is lucky that Boult is not playing. He won't last against Starc.

No i don't think he leaves a big gap. Actually Pujara leaves a much bigger gap. If anything he hangs on the backfoot most of the time. You have to be really really full like Jamieson did last time.

***** Sharma is lucky that he's not playing this series otherwise his average would have come crashing down.

Hamish Bennett has mostly been bowling as poor lengths in LOIs as he was bowling when he debuted a decade ago in 2010. I thought he might have worked on that but he looks to be as wavered as he was in his younger days.

Pant not playing this match is really bad. He is the back up keeper. So he needs atleast one game as practice.

Iyer is much better than Shaw and Gill. I don't know why he is not rated highly.

In NZ you have to operate 135 and let the ball swing. Bowling at 145k with no swing means nothing. This is why Bhuvi was more effective last time.

Aman, u19 bowlers are faster than Southee.

They might be faster but international cricket is a different ball game and its not just pace which makes you successful its overall skills and how you use them.

Watching this only for Shaw, no interest in this match otherwise. Not playing Pant even once on this tour is disgraceful by Kohli/Shastri.

Guys who have troubled INdian in NZ over the years are medium pacers bowling at 130 to 135k. Gavin larsen, Simon Doull, Darrell Tuffy CDG

Oh my god. CDG is one bowler i am so scared of. This guy bowls this awkward length you can't go forward or backward.

Definitely deserved a go in T20s. Looks like Indian management have out Rahul and Pant against each other for the spot. Rahul who was competing with the batsmen previously is now playing as a keeper batsman and is probably the first choice now for LOIs.

Iyer is not as technically sound as Gill. But very good head on his shoulders.

Denly has a better technique than Root, that doesn't mean he is better than him. Shaw and Gill are overrated in my opinion, They are not as good as some people think they are here.

Why are they over-rated lol Give me one reason why? Shaw and GIll have done in all levels. Shaw especially has made Test debut as well and played well.

You don't score 300 if you have fitness issues.

Batting fitness can still be good even when you struggle with overall athleticism and fitness. Look at Rohit Sharma, guy scores 200s in ODIs with a pretty unathletic body now a days especially. Yousuf, Inzi are other examples who werent exactly live wires in the fields bit used to score double tons in tests and Inzi scored a tripple ton as well.

In modern day cricket, unless Sarfaraz becomes an absolute beast with the bat team wont compromise on his overall fitness and him struggling in the field.

Bennett at 32 years of age is bowling as unpredictably as maybe Muhammad Musa a Pak teenage pacer who has some work to do with his accuracy.

I remember Sabbir Rahman was great last time he toured NZ. Wasted his career by beating up kids. sweep_shot

Problem with a lot of young cricketers that they get carried away with bit of success pretty easily.

Voges? Where did he come from? Kohli is a modern great across the formats without a doubt but the point is batsmen score runs against weaker attacks as well, they cant be discounted.

Without taking opponents and conditions into account, Voges is a great

Gill has not done well in the opportunities he got in ODI cricket last year. Shaw scored hundred against WI. Even Abul Hasan Raju from Bangladesh scored 100 against WI on debut by batting at no 11, so I don't think its an amazing feat at all.

2 matches where Rohit/Dhawan also failed. You judge him based on that. one was caught and bowled.

I have a fear that Pant is being treated like this to keep Dhoni in the scheme of things. There is a reason MS hasn't retired from T20s despite being continuosly ignored. If he has a good IPL expect selectors/BCCI to capitulate before public pressure.

First bad fielding from NZ. This is one of the major difference between teams. NZ took some spellbinding catches in this series. India dropped some sitters.

It is not a fear. It is almost the reason why Patn is kept away. I don't mind sitting him out. But as a back up keeper not giving him even one chance is cringeworthy. Atleast he would have played India A game.

Santer is having a wood over Indians. Tall high action into the righties. They have trouble rotating strikes against such balls.

I agree, but I was responding to a point made which stated that Shaw averaged 118.5 and as such was very good

It is not just the runs. the way he made those runs . At a strike rate of 94. He also made 66 in 62 balls in the tour game in Australia. He would have thrived in Australia. Even in this match he looked better than Agarwal who made 2 fifties in Australia

One dayers take a back seat. Ideal time to build a core group for the middle order spots. With no Rohit, Dhaan and Kohli having an off-series ideal time for these guys to get used to situations like this. It will help us in the long term.

Ferguson, Jamieson/Henry, and Boult. Add in CDG and Neesham to chip in with 10+ and Sodhi/Santner means our lineup looks good in ODIs. Southee can be kept exclusively for tests as he is quite crap in ODI.

What an incredible stability these two bastmen brought to our middle order. Clown truly messed it up by trying Rayudus and DKs. Heck even the hack Pant played at #4 in WC. India's middle-order bastmen spots are not that cheap.

CDG and Neesham are too slow for pattas outside Newzeland especially in India where the next WC is. They will get slaughtered.

Yet another 50 for Rahul. And surprisingly no sixes so far. Tells how calculated he's become of late. Low perfectage of risky shots and mastered the art of reading the situations well. He's the right captain material to lead this indian team in future. Has all the ingredients of a champion player and leader.

Leaving a little bit of grass is good. It helps batsmen getting used to movement. Pace is there. Bounce is there.

It's a treat to watch KL, even in those rare sedate days of batting from him. When he started, I thought he'll push Kohli down to No. 4.... still he has time, may be by next WC at home, he'll be the main batsman for India. I wonder, in absence of Sharma, why thy are not opening with him - if it clicks, probably more dangerous than Sharma!!!!

They are doing it on purpose to give some time to Agarwal at the center. He is the test opener. Shaw is also test opener in the absence of Rohit.

If KL Rahul continues this form and increases the ability to convert he will be touching Kohli very soon.
